I've been gone from Minecraft for a while and am just coming back into it. I'm a big fan of structures and have a world full of random structures that I'd love to be able to spread around a world.
I don't understand a lot of the technical side of Minecraft, though, and have no idea what datapacks are or how to use them, but I'd love to be able to use something like this to see some of my stuff randomly spread across a world, or even to send some of my structures your way for you to use in your pack.
All that to say, this looks very cool and I'm definitely interested!

Hey there, world. It's 2020! Weird how time flies.
So just to close this chapter, Annavarld is dead. Without MCEdit, there's just no way I can really do anything. I have a world full of great structures waiting to be placed into Annavarld (I had a world chosen and everything and was starting to work on it), but without MCEdit or something easy and simple like it to edit the world and place structures from one world into another, it's dead. Sorry about that.
The last half of 2018 and all of 2019 was basically spent away from Minecraft with plenty of other life stuff going on. But I've been enjoying getting back into things recently. I've had a vague awareness of some of the last few updates and things that have been added (along with all the lovely new structures!), but I hadn't really had a chance to play around with them and really dig into them until now.
In tha past few weeks I updated and added a few structures and locations in the greater world of Minerva while also updating some of Criswelvania proper. And in the past weekend since passing the map back to Criswell, I've begun working on a new world. I spawned in a swamp and already have a few swamp villages built.
And may I add that I'm a big fan of these new villager mechanics! Letting them have jobs tied to blocks and daily routines while sleeping in beds at night makes player-created villages work just as well as villages created by the game, something that didn't work nearly as well back in the day when I was working on Nyvarld. It feels far more immersive now. I'm excited and enjoying making a new little bustling world that feels full of life.
It's a large biome world and I've flown around a bit and not found any generated structures yet, but I'm gonna keep building on this and see what happens. Who knows what sorts of things I might create. And maybe this will turn into something larger over time. We'll see.
Until we meet again, I wish you all happy building!

I've been following the updates in the game. There's amazing stuff and I'm excited about all of it. I'm more interested in changes to the community, though, especially regarding Minecraft Forum and Adventure Maps.

I've been gone from the Minecraft community and this site especially for a few years and I'm wondering how things have changed. Are adventure maps still a thing? If so, where do people go to find the best ones? I can't seem to sort the maps section here like I once could in order to be able to find recent ones or sort by type and version. How do most people around here play (what kinds of things are the Minecraft community into these days?) or do as many people play as they used to back in 2012-2015?
Thanks for indulging me!

Those seem pretty great, especially the first one. Thank you!
With MCEdit out of date, this seems super helpful for Criswelvania production.
Did I mention that Criswell is back working on Criswelvania again? Well, he is.

And 1.13 is released! Plus, I found what I think will be a great new seed with all biomes and almost all structures included in about 2k blocks from spawn. I think I might make it a large biome world to make it even bigger and give more room to maneuver and build and explore. So, definitely much larger than Nyvarld ever was.
We'll see what happens. I've got a lot of projects going on nowadays, but I might have the chance to start working on this a bit this weekend.

I'm gonna basically create a new Nyvarld in a new world with some of the same and new structures for the sequel world, Annanvarld.
I really did fall off there a bit. A lot going on in life. I have been watching all of the 1.13 development, though, and it's got me very excited. I think once we get a solid release of this, I'll definitely get back to Annanvarld and probably create a new world for it since the old one that I picked last summer is now sorely out-of-date.

Not dead, but yeah. Definitely on a severe hold.
Actually, we'd like to get back into it, but what we really need is someone who's well-versed in the technical side of Minecraft to help us. Someone who's very good with NBT and can help do a lot of behind-the-scenes coding sort of stuff. If we can get someone like that, we'll probably be able to finish this up to at least release what we have so far.
If anyone would like to volunteer, please feel free to send me a message here or an email at spookyhappyfun (at) gmail.com.

I decided it's time to finally get started on Annanvarld and get to placing these many structures into a world, so I found what looked like a great see with many varied biomes and a good-looking map, and I've begun the world. Annanvarld is a go!

It did, unfortunately. You're right. We're still thinking about it and it's absolutely still on our radar, but life and world events have put Minecraft on the backburner. Hopefully we'll be able to return to it sometime soon, but I can't say when. We'll let you know when we have more information.

And would you look at that? 1.10 is out so quickly, and with new fossil structures and ground-level mesa mineshafts too! Plus changes to the villages, broadening them to spawn in new types of biomes! This kind of variety in the world is exactly what I love.
And I'm still plugging away at structures. I'm compiling and recreating some great one I've seen around and making new ones myself. I haven't yet found the right world or seed yet to call Annanvarld, but I'm at least preparing the structures in my test flat world so they'll be ready for ease of importing once Annanvarld is found.
And let's all hope that the addition of the structure block is only the beginning of great things to come that will open up vanilla Minecraft to having user-created structures easier to import all around the world!
