fairly sure its a biome water mod :smile.gif: ask the guy that posted the picture, he doesnt bite hehe

Oh alright. I wasn't sure if it was something you did in the pack. I've never seen it before.

But the screenies I'm seeing of structures are awesome! The one thing I really like about your pack (and the thing I think makes most of the most popular packs so great) is that it's all very coalesced. It ties together well and structures are appealing to the eye because of that. It's very difficult to do and I'm a fan of your work because you're able to do it so beautifully!

    Just my 2 cents. :Sheep:

I was browsing through the zillions of pages that I haven't been able to get around to yet. Is the water...green and blue? Or is that just a strange effect made by something else?

better than my texture pack making at the moment, its consists of building PC's for other people and playing deus ex. :tongue.gif:

p.s. not hawt, hence why I cover my face with a masquerade mask in my picture.

What is up with that game?! I see it everywhere and have no idea what it even is. I need to Google may way back to modern times apparently. :blink.gif:

And I'm sorry you have to build lots of PCs! Here have a Notch head! :iapprove:

    P.S. I don't believe it!

P.P.S. Since I value your opinion I may send over some PM screenies of wool to see what you think. I don't really want to release screenshots of unfinished textures. I don't want this thread to go completely to texture Hell!

Not as HAWT as you! Thanks Dorian. :tongue.gif: Stupid dumb wool is giving me trouble, of all the things. And I think I'm going to redo that stupid cloud layer too. Today has not been a very productive day for Ashencraft. I do something, delete it, do something else, delete that. Bah.

Hi! Aw thanks! Torches are one of the few textures that haven't been touched (and probably won't be heh). :happy.gif: I'll be releasing a public "beta" of the texture pack as soooon as I finish the terrain file. I'll be sure to let you know when!

Aw hi Oxi! Thanks! I'm glad you like all of the changes and stuff. :smile.gif: Thanks for sticking with me through it!

I'll try to show some new stuff off soon, but the work week is coming back around. >_<

Thanks. :happy.gif: I'm going to post with some new updates soon!

And by soon, I mean in like five minutes. I'm working on a few textures that have been left rotting for weeks now so I hope I can show you guys a peak.

In other news, though, I *do* have something to show you that I've been working on for quite a while!

    Custom cloud map

I know that it may seem all "herpty derp, black and white image of squiggles" but it's really somewhat of a milestone for me. This is the first cloud map that I've made that I'm more than ... at least 75% happy with. Cloud maps are ridiculously hard for me, since I mostly hate Minecraft clouds to begin with. Anyway, thought I'd include you guys in my mini celebration!

Wahoo! Another screenshot! I really should be sleeping and I'll regret staying up this late tomorrow but for now I'm loving it!

Anyway, here's a mock dungeon to showcase the new mossy cobble. I really, really, really wanted to stay within the boundaries of cobblestone itself so it's not just a random block that looks nothing like cobblestone. BUT, I absolutely hate how the transition from normal cobble and mossy cobble looks if you simply make cobblestone with moss on it.

So, my compromise was to make a block that had the same cobblestone "border" so that it would tile nicely with a larger interior tile that has moss on it! I think I like how it turned out, and it tiles nicely so my OCD tendency doesn't fire off every time I see a dungeon.

    Anyway, enjoy the preview!

posted a message on Tips and tricks my First 32x Texture Pack?
The best tip I can give you is to look at real pictures of what you're making. Even if you don't want to make it look realistic, you can get some really cool ideas from looking at reference photos.

The biggest thing that I struggle with (and I am making a 32x pack as well) is knowing what to leave in and what to leave out. You only have 32x32 pixels per item to work with, so you can't include every detail. Think about what needs to be shadowed, what needs to be highlighted, what needs to be seen, etc.

Just play around with it and have fun. Don't worry if your first few tries doesn't come out exactly as you want it to, you'll be able to learn new techniques on your own by redoing things! :smile.gif: Good luck and I hope you do decide to show us!

    Quote from drfrozenfire

I see what you mean. What do you think I should put for this category? I think it should be treated differently than original work, but I'm not sure the best option.

A simple "If you made it 100%, it's yours" would do. Like steelfeathers said, there are texture pack artists out there working on communal packs and such. Obviously copies (even if they hand drew it, but it's clearly a stolen design from another pack) wouldn't fit into this category.

Anything too strict and this might be seen more as an "elitist" crowd than a union open to all artists. I know there are some growing artists and newbies out there learning to use their drawing programs who probably look like they're mooching off of a simple style that's been done about 500 different ways, but are doing their own thing entirely.

Sure! Sounds like a good idea to keep texture artists together and in a loop. This sort of community "center" could come in handy sometime down the road.

    I'm in. :smile.gif:

Yay! New screenshots for the slightly tweaked wood and the brand new stone slab (top and sides).

I've shown the stone slabs with a couple of pieces of normal stone in there to show that you can use the regular stone with stone slabs on top for a little bit of architectural decoration. The tops of the stone slabs are obviously the tiled floor.

posted a message on How does this Mossy Cobble look? (32x)
I really like it! Though it looks a little too round and flat for my own personal taste. I can see how it would be mossy cobblestone obviously, but if I knew nothing about Minecraft I'd say it looks more like slime oozing out.

I think other people are right - the top is too flat and there needs to be more variation in the green (noise).

    That is one sexy cobble.

Thank you! I think I'm finally happy with it, it blends well with the stone and that's what I was going for. One texture down - 17 gazillion to go!
