posted a message on My 'pink aisle' experience
Imposing gender roles on our children is all part of the lifelong process of cultural brainwashing that begins the day you are born. If your born a boy, you get given things the colour blue. A girl is given pink. Naturally you begin to associate blue with boys and pink with girls. From the very beginning, you are bred to abide by a certain set of prerequisites considered 'normal' for someone of your gender, ignorant of the fact that the concept of normal is only relative to the society in which it is defined. While you might have been able to step in and provide your opinion on the brainwashing, the mother would have likely dismissed anything you would have said, and continued as she had before, continuing the process of burning her idea of what a girl should and should not do upon her daughter.

The only way to stop this is to break the cycle. Raise your own children, make them know that normal is relative, blue is blue and pink is pink. They do not have to associate with boy and girl. Hopefully, as generations progress, they will continue the process of breaking the culture. As for converting someone outside your personal influence, it is only a matter of recommendation. You cannot force your will upon people, they will ultimately make the choice for themselves. The least you can do however, is say something.

In this situation it would have been futile however, and it also would have drawn you some dirty looks from other parents, should there have been any nearby.

As if picking either party matters. They're both servants of the bourgeois, and even taking that out of consideration they are essentially the same party with very slight differences. However, their aren't really any good party's in the US, most if not all of the communist ones don't advocate violent revolution or encourage some sort of class cooperation. From what I've seen, there isn't really anything good here.

I'm not getting into this socialist/communist/somethinist debate.

Can you put the map in the IC post at least?

Also, how about we make it a rule that you have to color your own country into the map so Spartan doesn't have to do it for you?

No, I'm not saying you can't go into space, just that you can't do it classic Untold Empires pace (IE: single orbit rockets > unlimited fuel spaceplanes > Mars colonial domination in a year.) A bit more slow paced space expansion is all I'm asking, I don't want to have to rely on creating civilizations off Earth in order to attract new players, because that simply won't work with the storyline. An Earth-focused RP is all I'm after, space is for later.

Russian Resources: Large mineral deposits scattered across Russian territory, untapped resources are still plentiful even after mining operations were expanded during the Eurasian Union era until it's fall. Hydroelectric power is one of the staples of Russian energy after they were deprived of Siberian oil with the dams along the Volga River being especially productive. Despite them being exploited heavily with the loss of the east, the forests of Russia are still vast and rich with wildlife.

Russian Pros: The urban population count is very high, though has been reduced by several million due to a combination of emigrations and post-war hardships. The military is large and developed, though cannot compare to either of the Scandinavian or Polish military's, which can outdo them in everything from size to technological advancement. The countries leadership however, after the wild and almost mystical though still reasonably realistic reorganization of political power after the events of WWIII have left many ruthless, strong, reliable, and ambitious people in power. When they cooperate (which they do rarely,) they are extremely cunning in their political maneuvering and negotiation. All that they need is unity in order to be unstoppable. The people of Russia are fierce nationalists by nature, and will work, even under extreme provocation, in the defense of their country

Russian Cons: Russia is surrounded by enemies who would only seek them to give into their demands. The nations of Scandinavia and Poland are by far their most fierce rivals. Relations between the three powers are all quite cold, however, due to Russia being the one most harmed in WWIII, they are the one that gets picked on most of the time. Relations between the three regions are highly unstable and capable of erupting at any moment, likely against Russia herself, if not for the cunning maneuvering of Russian leadership. The borders are long and not very well defended, however Moscow is capable of holding the line no matter what unless a large portion of both armed forces placed it under siege. Moscow is a fortress.
