posted a message on Adult Minecrafters Unite
33, checking in. An Alpha player as well. About four years ago my wife (then girlfriend) kept making fun of me for how much I played and enjoyed this "kids game". Then one day while I was at work she came with and sat on my laptop to "give it a try"...two hours later I walked in to her excited voice wanting to show me the house she built. Survival, both modded and vanilla are the preference for us.

If there is room and I'm not considered too young, would you mind if I were to log on and have a go?

posted a message on [Launcher] Magic Launcher 1.3.4 (mods, options, profiles, news)
    Using OSX 10.5.8
updated Java ( as much as possible via apple)
    fresh minecraft.jar file using 1.3.2
keep getting "bad version number" crash

Downloaded the 0.9.9 mac applet so I could run some mods. After trying all stable builds and latest (bleeding edge) builds of both ModLoader and Forge, I could NOT get minecraft to run through MagicLauncher. crash after crash.
I can use optifine but NO mod loader of any kind or build.

So I downloaded the MagicLoader.0.9.9.jar instead. works just fine with ALL of the different versions I've been playing with all day. mods work correctly now.

Just wanted to post in-case others are having as much trouble as I was.

posted a message on [Software] SimpleServer Wrapper 8.4.7 [1.4.6]
    Sadimusi,
I took a look through this topic and haven't found a solid answer. Going to try it out and I'll edit this post with results later, but let me ask anyway.

Can you run two simpleserver instances on the same computer? Assuming that you change their outbound ports and any other settings that might need to be unique. Let's say the scenario is that I want a 1.8beta world (using appropriate versions of SS and minecraft) and a second of 1.2.3 (with updated server files).

As an aside: thank you! I've been using this wrapper since close to the beginning and we have had an amazing gameplay experience with friends because of it. You rock and your work is appreciated.

Are you able to get team speak 3, and will you speak: already have it, yes.
Have you read all the rules, and will you RP respectfully? Indeed, been roleplaying in games a long time.
What do you look to accomplish in the RP server? I love a sense of community and I find that it's easier to find on a RP server. The Skyrim theme is an excellent setting for a group of rogues to band together and forge new factions, rise to power, and rule the world beneath our wings.

btw: surprised to see the Op Ivy avatar. I played in a ska band years ago and loved those guys. never expected to see that in these forums. stay rude!

Sounds like a good time. I've been running a small server from home myself based on a similar idea. Though the slow development has made the player-base small.
I'd like to contribute what I can: simple knowledge of operating a server, configuration for some common plugins, builds you'd like in place for when the server goes live.

I'm not going to rag on you because I know that we all get what we get. Sometimes you just can't afford much, or you get something recommended to you by a "friend". In all honesty, anything eMachine is bottom of the barrel.
As long as it can run minecraft, right?

posted a message on I just want to play with my sister
K, dude. First are you in the same house? or in different places?
EDIT: so you guys are in the same house. NO HAMACHI NEEDED.
If you are in the same house then NO PORT-FORWARDING. That is only for "outside" connections.
Once you get that stuff established you only need to A) know how to start the server and B)know what your IP address is your own network (not your internet IP address. They are different) and give that to your sister so she can connect to it.

to find your own IP address in windows go to the start menu -> RUN type in "CMD" without the quotes. When the black box shows up type "ipconfig" and hit enter. That should show you your IP. most likely it will be something like this:
    192.168.1.100

    OR

    192.168.X.XXX

your number could vary so just give her those numbers.

Plenty of tuts on the forums to start your own server.
    Good Luck!!!

posted a message on Your Minecraft OCD
My "OCD" would be people who don't use the English language properly.

OCD is NOT a word it's an acronym. Obsessive Compulsive Disorder is not the same as a Pet Peeve. You can't have "an" Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, you just HAVE OCD.

If my comment on this post is any kind of basis to judge off of, then you can only imagine how neurotic I am when playing Minecraft. :wink.gif: Just playin fellas.

posted a message on Minecraft Series with Long Episodes... Want Yall Feedback
Got through most of the video, but didn't watch it all...kinda long.

Your commentary is fine, but I would suggest playing through first, then over-dubbing a new commentary. when you play AND talk you tend to get distracted and repeat yourself....a lot. viewers don't want to waste time watching you chop away at iron and say "I need iron" a whole bunch (just an axample). no need to change the tense of what you said either. just speak like you are playing it now, but this gives you a chance to think about what to say. all the extra stuff can be edited out in your favorite video program. show some of it, but splice it into something more relevant so you can move on. That would make the episodes shorter and people will stick around for it.
You can show us alot though. like when you were laying down track, forgot the 2nd stack, you had to run back. fine. I'll watch that., but there's also alot of walking around that doesn't need to be there.

MORE TORCHES!!! I know it's a resource hog (survival resources, not PC) but when you jump into a black hole and start telling us about "WHOA creepers" there is still nothing to see. remember that what you are doing is both Audio and Video.

So there you go, critique and suggestions. Good luck!

posted a message on Server Test People Needed
the ip that you posted is the LOCAL ip for your home network. no one can reach that except people in your house. (or wherever you are at)
go to www.whatismyip.com and then try again.
ALSO you are most likely behind a router, so you will need to FORWARD the PORT for minecraft which means changing settings on your home router.
There should be plenty of tutorials on that stuff here in the forums. search it.
Also, ask your parents before you change stuff on the router.

I don't believe in thanking people for doing their job, since most others don't find it appropriate to thank me when I'm at mine.

Well, kid. One day you might realize it's not about what happens to you, but what you choose to do about it.

I've been playing for well over a year now and friggin' love it. Still finding things to like about this game.

I would assume that was preemptive to creating the modding API. We can hope that by the time the game goes gold, we will see people using the modding API to create mods which integrate smoothly with the vanilla game.

posted a message on Mob Castles/Forts
Apart from building, exploration is a huge draw for the minecraft crowd. On my own server, my friends and I love finding new places to build and locating dungeons. Why couldn't there be something better and bigger than the few extra dungeons we've seen?

I could imagine walking over a hill and seeing this spire-like castle, resting upon a far mountaintop. Waiting to be purged of the evil which waits inside so that we may claim it's treasure as our own! Traversing the labyrinth inside, hacking away at zombie after zombie, avoiding the deadliest traps.

From a modders standpoint, I imagine it could be simpler than we think. Random dungeons are cool, but if you want to get elaborate with traps and make these things huge you may have to resort to placing pre-made castles. We've seen alot of mods which add pre-made structures to the terrain so couldn't you step it up? What's more, would you be able to have the mod read from an external source (i.e. zip files) which contain "world info" for the pre-made castles? This would allow players to create there own unique structures, share with the community, and give players (and server admins) an endless source of "freshness" to their worlds.

These external sources would most likely need to be created using MCedit (or some other program) so that you only have the "castle" and not terrain around it. Otherwise you'll have lakes and stuff being spawned into inappropriate places.
