Why? It's your HW. Ask Google, or someone from class. Not that hard.

In other words, I have been out of school for 15 years, I don't remember a damn thing about physics.

    Go ask your mother.

    Quote from TerribleSphinx

I disagree with the death penalty. The death penalty does not scare anybody, It is just a quick way out of a punishment. I do see why they would give her the deah sentence. But i would just say "Throw her in prison for the rest of her life." Long punishment. Alot of thinking time.

That's what I don't get about being against the death penalty. What difference does it make how much she thinks about what she did, if she'll never get out (life in prison). It's really no better than ending her life sooner artificially. Either way, she's not going to be back in society, so whatever she may learn will never be put into use. And it's not like anyone else learns from the mistakes of people on death row, because people STILL commit crimes that are known to be punishable by death. So whether you execute or not, it doesn't deter, and if they do learn from their time in prison, it's all for nothing.

All lifetime in prison does over execution, is that they die a 'better' person, assuming they've learned from their time in prison. I see neither as any better than the other.

posted a message on Cheese or bananas?
How the heck are bananas expensive? They're $0.69/lb here. Cheaper if you go to a fruit stand. Even cheaper if you buy them ripe, which is how I prefer, because otherwise I have to wait for them to ripen. And they taste great.

Cheese is expensive at ~$6/lb. Same price as deli meats, or a bit cheaper.

You posted on the VEGAN section. Vegans don't eat cheese...don't you think they're a bit too biased to get a fair opinion from?

posted a message on Dying patient with inoperable brain tumor kicked out of hospital for using medical marijuana.
For the third time...the hospital has a policy against it. She wanted to violate the policy, was warned, and as far as I can tell SHE LEFT.

And no, the hospital can't necessarily just show her somewhere outside she can go to smoke. I know at our hospital, the entire property is non-smoking, including the parking lot. Smoker employees are upset that they have nowhere to go, but the idea is to prevent it on the hospital property, and once you allow it at all, then forget having a policy, because people will stretch the exceptions until it's a policy on paper only.

A doctor prescribing it doesn't mean she can have it without question. She got it outside the hospital, but it's not allowed at the hospital.

    Quote from MichaeljMM79

God is pretty cruel for putting the dog's foot in a wolf trap and then making it chew it off to free itself.

Religous people are selective in what they consider to be an act of god.

    Quote from Shpaget

Furthermore, the minimal wage, according to Sortin, is $4,65. She got another $1,33 which is almost 30% bonus to the wage (I'll suppose it didn't take a full hour to service them). I would guess that any half competent waiter can service far more than three tables simultaneously (two persons at this particular table), which means that she can more than double her wage even if everybody tipped just $1,5.

I'd love to hear your opinion after actually waiting tables all day, and making less than someone at McDonald's.

contains literally hundreds of pages of unrelated spending.

That's basically how bills get passed. Someone opposes it, but you get their vote by including something they want. That thing is unrelated, but it doesn't matter...it can be added anyway. Now everyone else has to look at it and weigh whether it's worth the additional "pork" to pass the bill. If you vote against it, you're against the original bill in the eyes of the media and voters. If you vote for it, you support 'pork' spending.

    It's just politics.

Wow...what a strange school, assigning essays at 11pm the night before it's due. Who DOES that?

The truth is, you probably won't put any more effort in when you're given an extra day to turn it in, so it doesn't matter.
