You think the flaws of the educational system are about the discipline of who hit who first?
Oh god, we're in worse trouble than I thought.

In Australia at least banana's have been unuasualy expensive recently, but their dropping back down now.
OT: Bananas. unless its on pasta, in which case, cheese.
I guess I do live in a fairly tropical region...where bananas can be grown locally.
Apr 11, 2012How the heck are bananas expensive? They're $0.69/lb here. Cheaper if you go to a fruit stand. Even cheaper if you buy them ripe, which is how I prefer, because otherwise I have to wait for them to ripen. And they taste great.Posted in: General Off Topic
Cheese is expensive at ~$6/lb. Same price as deli meats, or a bit cheaper.
You posted on the VEGAN section. Vegans don't eat cheese...don't you think they're a bit too biased to get a fair opinion from?

What are your grades at school?
I'm in all honors classes and I've managed to keep up straight A's all quarters of the year!
Graduated 15 years ago, so my grades no longer matter. But I graduated with a 4.04 average.

When I swallowed pen ink, I had to go to the hospital. That was a looong night of throwing up my day's meals. I think I consumed a little under an ounce, like 3 quarters of one, if I remember correctly.
The symptoms didn't show up until evening, and I swallowed the ink earlier in the day (around 8:30, maybe 9?). Yea, I wouldn't feel so safe if I were you.
EDIT: Wow, stupid 502 gateway thing.
I'm partially curious how you managed to consume that much ink. 20+ml of ink seems like a significant amount. He's talking about maybe 1ml in a pen.

Hey. Just got an aquarium! I have two 10cm(?) koi, and two 15cm(?) goldfish. I wonder, will they eat or tick on smaller fish? For example, Cave Tetra (blind cavefish)? If they do, is there a way to avoid it? Any plants, hiding spaces? My aquarium is about 35cm x 70cm and about 30cm high, so its not so big.
Thanks, hope for answers!
That sounds incredibly small for so many fish. They may fight for lack of space if nothing else.
I've heard goldfish are very dirty.
We had koi in a pond in our back yard, and they got huge. I think some were at least a foot and a half (~45cm). I know they grow relative to the size of their environment, but don't know if they'd stay that small. Ours, by the way, came from a pet shop, we took them home in plastic baggies, they were no bigger than yours are.
Feb 22, 2012Why do people seem to think it's either headphones or speakers? I use both. I use 2.1 speakers, and headphones that cost $10 on Newegg about a year ago. They sound fantastic and are comfortable. The speakers are nothing special, I think they were $30 about 4 years ago.Posted in: Computer Science and Technology

I said LIVE was obviously better, but made points about M$'s greedy money-sucking.
Both controllers are great. PS3 has retarded trigger/bumper things, XBOX has a bad D-pad. PS3 supports most USB devices that have a practical use with it, XBOX most likely does not. Move is basically a great improvement on the Wii, and has some pretty decent titles. Kinect is cool and all, but unless you're looking at homebrew, there's nothing very special (correct me if I'm wrong).
I prefer the Playstation controller, but bought an XBox anyway, because it was about $200, including the Kinect. At the time I was comparing it to a ~$100 networked BluRay player (to have Netflix). The PS3 was hardly a consideration, because it wasn't about gaming.
Kinect is great for Netflix, which is what I use my XBox for the majority of the time. The gaming capability is there on the big screen, but I rarely use it. I like using voice commands mostly, the room is always too dark to bother trying to control with motion.

Consoles are cheaper for the price. Most good gaming computers are $800+, whereas consoles are somewhere between $200-$400. So consoles usually strike the better deal even though the computer can be better.
Most good gaming computers are made to run games made to run on good gaming computers. A game like Skyrim that was ported from the console to the PC doesn't require a $800 gaming computer. Also...can I play EvE on a console, or a real MMORPG? I prefer keyboard/mouse for shooters, so the only thing left for a console is sports games, of which I only play football games, and that's hardly worth the consideration for. I got Madden '10 for $10 at a pawn shop, so I'm good for a few years.
The article provided seems biased, but maybe I'm just not looking at it from a gaming perspective. The main draw for the PS3 is the BluRay drive, which I don't need until I get a better TV (older model 51" projection screen). The rest is opinion-based. Gaming may be better with the "Move" controllers, but they are an additional expense. And as mentioned, my XBox was $300 -$100 gift card, so essentially $200.

"Pop" is just short for POPULAR. That's all. It changes with the times.
Even when referring to music from the 70's and 80's, most people are going to remember the popular songs, the ones that hit the radio. Is that not 'pop music,' just from another era?
And, it's been said many times, each generation brings new music, and the previous generations deride it as unoriginal crap. Previous generations think 'good' music died with whatever music they listened to, and it'll never return.
Preferences change, technology changes. As people experiment with new or different ways to make music, some stays, some is thrown out.
And one of those technological advances is the absolutely astounding number of choices we have for how we get our music. You aren't limited to 2 or 3 radio stations. Unfortunately, the 8 radio stations you have to choose from might play oldies, country, rock, and pop, but are all owned by 2 mega-corporations, who ultimately decide what to play. But there's satellite radio, and the multitude of mp3/cd/tape players you can choose from.

It's not missing a PSU, it's included in the case.
My point wasn't simply to provide the best option available, just that you can do much better by building than going to Best Buy.
Feb 13, 2012If you want to save on a PC, you have got to start building, and stop buying from the box stores.Posted in: Computer Science and Technology
$412 Build with a 3-core processor, Win 7, 8GB RAM, and similar specs otherwise to your first PC from BestBuy you linked.
There's several points where you could upgrade now rather than later. Also, this has integrated graphics, so you would probably want to spend another $100 or so to get a halfway decent video card.
Don't forget tax...a $400 computer is going to take another $28 or so in taxes.
And my god, a Mac, on a budget? Seriously.

Edit: What he "should have" done is part of what makes him human. Get over it people. C:
And what he 'did do' is part of why Yogscast had lost 20% of their subscribers. Apologizing is what would make him a decent person. But he hasn't, even though I'm sure by now he knows what effect it had.
But I have a feeling he doesn't care, because it's not him.

Its funny how some people are worshipping the yogscast's response, when it contains about as much facts as Notch's twitter posts.
I just see this as Notch's word vs. The Yogscast's word.
And it seems most of the beta players, Who don't know notch in the least are taking Yog's side.
I see it as Yogscast being forced to defend against something they didn't do, which is pretty hard to provide evidence that you DIDN'T do something. Notch is the one with the burden of proof here, not Yogscast.
Personally, after seeing how poorly Notch has handled all of this, I hope the Yogscast crew were consulting with a lawyer when they landed, as that's the only thing that will wake Mojang up to the effects Notch can have with his tweets. He needs to stick to coding, and let a PR person handle communication.
