New free-build community Bukkit server looking to recruit new players. The focus of Rubylands is cooporative creative freebuild. While currently a vanilla server, we will eventually be incorporating plugins which add to pleasure and playability, while remaining true to the overall spirit of the original game. Possibilities include an economy, RPG-like advancement system, Spleef arenas, towns, monster hunts, trivia, and whatever else we find clever and fun. We also plan to host special events from time to time, like hellworld days, PvP sprees, crazy invasions, and contests. We will be looking for admin/mods/ops and all that good stuff once things get running well and stable.
So, if you're interested, please stop by!
The rules are simple:
1) Be constructive (i.e. no destructive griefing)
2) Don't crowd others' builds. Most of the main area is pretty well spaced out, so find a remote space to start your zone. The world is VERY BIG, so don't be afraid to run off for a ways from the spawn point to start your constructions.
3) No cheat/hacks (just use common sense folks)
4) PvP is enabled for fun, but don't use it to harass people that don't want to play with you.
5) Have fun!

Khash: Yes, I checked to see if my port was forwarded properly, and the program I have said that it was unable to ping my computer as well
External IP Address: Your external IP address is: 67.167.206.248
Ping Result: We were not able to ping your router
Port Check Result: Your port is NOT OPEN or not reachable!
However, I have only one computer connected to the internet through a broadband modem, and I don't have a router.
I'm ran a standard server (the one from minecraft.net) for a long time, and didn't have any an issues with others connecting. Maybe it is a new problem since I updated to the Bukkit server. Looking for help on the Bukkit forums.
Well khashai, I can connect to the server (from the same machine), but apparently noone else can. The server is not showing anyone even attempting to log in.
I'll probably check back on this thread at least once a day, so if you don't get added within 24 hours, let me know.
Right now there is a 20 player cap in place on a non-dedicated machine, but we will be moving to a dedicated server soon, so the cap will probably increase significantly.

Ok... my guy is stuck in a bug. Can't move from the spot I am stuck in.
There is no suicide/reset command, and I don't have any sand, etc. on me to drop on my head to kill myself with. Logging/re-logging doesn't help. Even tried copying the world to another world, and that didn't help either.
Basically I am stuck in a bug and I can't kill myself, and no mobs are coming along to kill me neither. I thought about digging down until I hit lava or something, but although I can dig below me, I just stay where I'm at suspended in mid air in some sort of limbo.
What can I do? Aren't there mods available to edit the position of my character? Could someone tell me which one to use please?
Or if anyone has any other ideas... I can't figure out a way to kill myself to get back to the respawn point, and no mobs are killing me so I am basically stuck in a bug and can't do anything/play/etc.
please help.
Try using MCEdit to change your location.
Ugggh.. Ok.. well thanks for the advice, I'll give it a try.
I actually tried loading the Single Player Commands Mod hoping I can just do a /home command, but I can't get the command console to pop up. Is there a way to force the game to re-load the minecraft.jar now that I got it installed?
I don't understand why this has to be such a complicated procedure using all sorts of advanced mods and what not. I've seen several other people have this problem. I don't understand why they don't just add a simple suicide/reset/unstick command to address issues like these.
EDIT: I was able to install MCEdit and get things fixed pretty quickly. I just don't understand why this fairly common problem cannot be addressed in game with a simple command without the use of all sorts of fancy third party Mods.

Can someone try logging on please?

Already did that working with the guys on the Bukkit boards, and it does seem to be Bukkit...
For instance:
with Bukkit -
Error: I could not see your service on 67.167.206.248 on port (25565)
Reason: Connection timed out
with standard server from minecraft.net -
Success: I can see your service on 67.167.206.248 on port (25565)
Your ISP is not blocking port 25565
we're working on it.

Any thoughts?
Btw, you're added as well.

Someone try to connect and tell me what connection message you are getting.

I am able to log on just fine.
I have run servers in the past and not had any problem with people connecting. This is the first time I've run a Bukkit server though.. hmm...
What connection message is it giving you?

The server is not showing anyone having even attempted to log in.
Are you sure you have the IP right? I double-checked it, and I typed it properly.
