    just wanted to let you guys know about the current status of the mod;


    "the hype for the mod is mostly dead. every so often i get the occasional forum visitor (and i do appreciate that you guys are still interested !!) but i hate looking at this mod. this started as a simple, fun project that i wanted to do over the summer and quickly spiraled out of control with people hyping up a piece of scrap work, making mod reviews and treating it as an official, this-is-the-real-deal mod. it never was that. it never was meant to be anything more than the starter for something way more, and unfortunately many people couldnt see that.


    i guess a lot of that is my fault. when dealing with a fandom of mostly children, (no offense !! but in looking at the actual demographics) and making something that is also targeted towards kids (in looking at the demographics of who plays minecraft) theres really not much good to expect if you dont take extra special care with things, and even then, theres only so much you can do.


    but i quickly got sick of this because of the community. i hate being pressured to add in either completely irrelevant features, or features that i wouldnt know how to do, or features that would be game breaking or ruin the central aspect of the mod, or features that would cost me actual money to work with. i was sick of being pressured to do so very much. i was sick of people treating the mod like trash because it didnt have this or that or because it was in alpha or the models were all the same or they didnt have animations (because they again, could not realize this mod was a WIP). i was sick of all the bad stuff that came with making this mod and i didnt particularly like being misgendered or bad mouthed because some people werent happy with what i had to show.


    anyway. i wanted to make this a reality, i really did. and i still do !! its really impressive that the mod has had 3000+ downloads (last i checked my media fire counter) and nearly 30000 forum views. like, that still blows me away. but i really, truly cant keep working with this mod (i lost the files for it anyway lmao). and tbh !! who knows !! i really want to pick this project back up in the near future.


    i cannot make any promises; there is a change i will continue working on a wings of fire mod, and there is a chance i won't. so please, dont assume one way or the other.


    all i know is that id want it to use a different name.

    hey mod is dead for rn but Im planning to pick it back up, possibly w a friend soon. lost whatever code I had to begin w so Im starting over from scratch in 1.10, might play around with making a different mod to get a feel for modding again

    May I redo the textures? I LOVE texturing and I was going to do it for myself but seeing as you mentioned it, I'd love to do it and send you them.


    ill consider it !! i do have someone im working with on the mod, though, so ill ask them what theyd think. i generally prefer to keep my teams as small as i can when im working on mods ^-^;

    hey guys ! just figured i should keep you all updated on whats going on, seeing as theres a lot of people excited about the progress of this mod.


    long story short, my computer went kaput and ate up all my mod files. ack, even the ones for a horse-centered mod i was working on. ive lost about everything for the wings of fire mod, minus maybe the textures which needed to be updated regardless. i doubt i could salvage any of the code.


    in all fairness i was planning on redoing about everything in the mod; although i had recently updated it from 1.7.10 to 1.8, had some good structures code going, and some good armor and tools going for me in it (namely all the armor and tools) and ironed out the spawning issues. there goes all that work and uh, everything from the very beginning when i first started modding. this was the very first mod i ever started working on !! hard to believe it in retrospect.


    but dont worry about the wings of fire mod's fate !! in fact, im hoping itll recieve quite a bit more work on it in the upcoming months than it has since the almost year since i first booted up eclipse and got to coding. ive got a friend on deviantart im skyping with to help me work on it and i hope that working as a team will really help get more work done quicker and motivate me to get to it.


    i dont blame anyone for being upset at me for having barely worked on it in the year or so ive started it up, life has just been so, so awful lately so ive been lounging about and trying to deal with it; this mod ive been having difficulty with was pretty much at the bottom of my priority list.


    but we're working things out !! im going to get the twitter back up and going hopefully, make a new account here to have a clean slate and start up a new WIP mod page once weve gotten a good chunk done and ready for beta testing. we're working out lots of mod ideas as im typing


    so !! we'll be working on the mod and ill report back to this thread with some good progress.

    hey guys, al here again. (curse my forum name, I'll make a new account just you wait) sorry I haven't been on much lately, I just haven't had much time nor interest to work on this lately. I'm hoping that once I get through all the grit work of the models, base coding and all I'll be more excited and back into working on this mod. I haven't really made much in the way of progress since the last update, and I'm also fairly certain I'll have to rework the mod, lost all the files XP One of my biggest roadblocks was animating the models, I didn't want to get into doing that since I knew I wouldn't know how, but since I've finished most of geometry and gotten through trigonometry (sine, cosine, and tangent stuff) I'm hoping that'll help out. Don't wanna promise anything, but I'm hoping I'll be back into this by summer and ready to work on it over the break (who knows? maybe sooner, my tablet is broken and my arm has been hurting lately so I needed to take a break from drawing :) )

    the multiquote button, kind of a pain to work with at points though lol. I can't really remember much going on in the mod, so I don't remember what's going on with peaceful spawning anymore, sorry ;-;
    world painter gave me a one - hour real time estimate (not including all the generated oceans on the sides, as well as trying to cross mountains and forests) but since the map was pretty big I'll probably be scaling it back by 25 - 50%, so in the end it might take a little over half an hour. the map is just uselessly big at this point, I don't think I'll ever be able to fill it at this point (nor could my computer ever be able to keep up with it!)

    I wouldn't expect any problems with the morph mod, but if it didn't work I wouldn't really be able to help you out either

    you'll have to download forge from here : http://files.minecraftforge.net/ (for minecraft 1.7.10, and I used forge version 10.13.2.1230 but it might work with other builds) and the installer should automatically do all the things you need there. then download this mod, and put it in the "mods" folder in your .minecraft (if there isn't a mods folder, you can go ahead and create one) theres plenty of youtube tutorials that can help you out I bet :)

    thanks, glad you like it :D I've had a lot of suggestions to play as dragons and I'm really considering it. I started building a pyrrhia map too where all the structures would be, but I'm not certain how I'd implement it so far X) I think for the canon book dragons I'd probably make them spawn in certain locations (like the sandwing sisters in their castles, or glory with the rainwings) and that sort of stuff (maybe even a boss battle with queens, lol)

    my favorite dragon is sunny but Id probably feel safest as glory, too XD

    sorry for the inactivity lately! I really haven't had the time, interest or patience to work on this, and I'm really hoping that once I've caught up on some work I'll be able to get back to this mod :)

    heh heh, I had completely forgotten about that XD right now I'm really the only person working on it, I might get together a few people as beta testers or map checkers, but otherwise I'm going solo on this

    I checked out the newest update of your mod and I'm happy to see that all the dragons have been added even if they don't have their fancy additions to their models. But just a little thing that I thought I'd suggest is to add little dots to the underside of the nightwings' wings.


    I plan to make updated and much more canon - like models eventually, it's just that model making is quite the long process and I wasn't expecting it to take a whole day for the current, simple model alone! :) times that by seven and we've got what I'm working with. it's not much if you try to nail it all in one go, but modeling definitely is the most fun part of the process so I've set that aside for last. I don't really plan to work on the textures just yet, as I think I'd rather expend that energy more into getting the new models done, considering the current will be thrown out.

    I like the ways the dragons attack too, and the way the rainwings run away. But for when you add Glory or some other vicious rainwing, they should give wither, and other normal rainwings could turn invisible. Weird suggestion, but somewhat true to rainwings.


    thanks, I was kind of iffy on all the attacks :) I'm not exactly certain how I'll add certain dragons but I do plan to modify some of the rainwing code so that they might use their venom as a last - ditch resort. I also really like the invisibility idea! not certain how I'd implement either of these at this point, but it's definitely something I'd like to work on down the road

    sounds really cool :D I'm not certain how I'll work out rainwing textures, but I'll probably either create various, colorful and static textures or colorful textures that change hue just slightly (as in, the blues on a rainwing would change slightly from teal blue to purple blue and in between) and sort of sparkle :) and jeb_ could cause the rainwing to cycle through the whole rainbow

    probably once I've gotten enough work on the mod to consider it pretty well finished up and polished. in the mean time I'll probably update this thread with all the little mod updates, like when I create the map to when the dragon models are done and once they have good animations. (this thread could definitely use some cleaning up, though)
    last I checked the dragons could spawn in peaceful? that's something I worked on for the longest time, actually XD I haven't worked on the mod in awhile though so I don't really remember everything from it

    I considered that originally, but was worried they might kill each other off before the player had a chance to find any. or that one tribe might be slightly stronger than all the others and annihilate all the other tribes XD plus, it's not something I'd know how to code easily at this point.

    as for seeds, I don't really know any good seeds in general. I'd try looking for one with a lot of various biomes in close proximity so you could find all the different dragons. right now I'm working on a map of pyrrhia where all the structures will spawn :D it's about 15.000 blocks across so it'd take about an hour to walk from one edge of the island to the other, give or take some time depending on how long it take to get over the mountains.

    Hm, it looks like you've opened a world that was a version different from 1.7.10, is this true? I'm not very good at getting the information from a crash report. I would try creating a new save, and if that doesn't work, redownloading Forge 10.13.2.1230; back up your saves, screenshots, anything else you'd want to keep, delete the .minecraft folder, rerun mc and generate a new world, install forge and create a folder called "mods" in the .minecraft folder and add the wings of fire mod to it. then boot up a new world.

    I can't imagine it would still be crashing after that, hopefully this helps.

    hm, okay. it sounds like there might have been some messing around in the configuration of the main menu, something with disabling mods, I can't quite remember what the function was. try this :


    go to appdata and copy your saves, screenshots, and login info, if desired. (copy all these into a folder on the desktop)

    copy your mods folder into the newly created folder on your desktop

    if desired, copy your entire .minecraft folder just to be safe

    after that, delete your entire .minecraft folder in appdata, rerun minecraft and let it regenerate the appdata files

    install the same forge version, run minecraft 1.710, and exit out

    drag the mods, saves, screenshots, and login info back into the new .minecraft folder

    start up the game again


    hopefully this will help. if not, pasting the error log would be much appreciated <3

    the mod wasn't made for 1.8, so if you're booting the game up in those versions either the content is missing or it would crash, if you're loading an old save with mods on it.


    I can't say I've heard of pyrrothia? If there's an error / crash log and you could post it here, that'd be much appreciated. It sounds like a compatibility issue between pyrrothia and one of your mods, I don't have enough information to determine if it's this mod.
