I knew this "java edition" nonsense was the beginning of the end. Microsoft is starting to dig its claws in and you can be absolutely assured it will not stop.

You'll get nothing but corporatese propaganda. This is a business decision, not a financial one.

Oh it WILL be lost. Make no mistake about it. These greedy monsters will pull the plug on the archive too soon enough.

What an unbelievably stupid and greedy thing to do. Fits your MO perfectly, huh? One final garbage decision atop a decade of many. Edit: And frankly the idea that you'd have the nerve to say that closing down is what's best for the community is a cowardly slap across the face of everyone who's come here for 10 years. Man up. Own your choices. If you're going to do this thing, have the fortitude to speak honestly.

PLEASE do something about the horrific cobble texture! Make it look like actual cobble stones and not like someone vomited charcoal onto the screen.

In order for Minecraft to run on IOS, Windows, Linux, Minecraft needs to use code created by the developers of those operating systems to run functionally. Java is the programming language used to develop the game. Java is owned by Oracle. Oracle lets developers use their language and sell what ever they make with it. You are not allowed to sell the language it self as that is selling Oracles property.
MineCraft is able to work on so many platforms because of its graphics library. It uses OpenGL. In order for OpenGL to work on a computer, the developers of the hardware and software need to program in special command line instructions. Microsoft does this for support up to OpenGL 1.1 or something, where was independent graphics card developers have support up to the most recent version.
Apple is in charge of their own hardware and so they created the software for their support of OpenGL. Linux is up in the air as how it works. Probably similar to the Microsoft implemented it.
If Minecraft decided to use DirectX (OpenGL's Only competitor), then the game would only run on Windows machines. Why is this? Because Microsoft wrote DirectX and they only want it to run on their machines.
Your only other argument is "I don't have enough money, nor the resources to start a company, but I'm going to do it anyway because I want to". If you want to start a server you need the resources to do so.
If you purchase a server then you need to make the money in order to keep it up. If you can't do that, then you shouldn't make a server. Simple as that.
You are not allowed to sell another companies property in order to fund something.
People who play minecraft like to believe everybody should create a server. That is not the case, if you do not have the ability to make a server, you should perhaps instead join one that can.
The server I play on is able to stay up not by pestering it's members to pay in order to gain features that they have the right to, but because the owners have actual jobs. The person paying for the server wants the server to be up so they willingly give their money to keep it up. If your server is really fun, and its member actively want to play on it, they will donate, they don't need bribes.
And then there's reality in which your opinion isn't the only one and your book of self righteous ramblings doesn't constitute objective fact.

There are several venues!
You can go to the "looking for" forum here on Planet minecraftand post what kind of a server you want to play on and maybe someone will reply. You can also go to the "servers" forum under the Serves: Java Edition heading and search through the lists of servers that people have posted. Some are very large, some are very small. There's also places like planetminecraft.com, and various othe rserver list sites you can google, many of which will let you explore the listings according to criteria, such as "vanilla".
Finding the perfect server can be a chore, and usually takes time if you have very specific wish lists they need to fulfill. Luckily, yours seems pretty to the point and I"m sure there's vanilla servers out there for you to play!
Best of luck!

So...do I understand that you want a patchwork of various zones from a variety of worlds in one world? If so, your best bet is to do a little research into the offline version of world edit. You will have to mod your install to get it to work, but it's not so difficult once you have done the reading. If a slow dummy like me can do it, I promise you can too.
What you will be able to do then is to select "cuboids" (imagine a cube comrpised of individual blocks. You select one block at the corner of the cube, then go to the opposite corner and select another block there, making a 3D cube-shaped selection). You can use //copy, //paste to insert the selection where you like it. (//experiment with //paste and //paste -a to see which is better for you.)
Be aware that you may have to also use //rotate 90 to get your selection in the right position when you paste it in. World edit remembers which direction you were facing and the chunks it copies are always oriented that way. Another consideration is that depending on just how large these regions are, you may even have to split them into smaller chunks and reassemble it at the destination one by one. You may make use of the "schematic" command by copying your chunk with //copy, then using //schematic save Mcedit (nameofchunk.schematic). You can then use //schematic load (name of chunk.schematic) to put it into your clip board so you cans ave many portions of your world at once and reassemble them all without having to run back and forth witht he copy-paste commands.
If this is all new to you, it probably sounds intense, but it's honestly pretty straight forward. Once you have it installed, go into a practice world and just play witht he commands I showed you a little bit. You'll get the hang of it quick and you'll wonder how you ever lived without it. World edit takes a lot of crafters to the next level.
I hope this has been of some help to you and wish you luck in getting your world together!

The new world generation excites me! I love mountainous terrain and have been dissatisfied with how mountains generate in this game for a long time. I'll be waiting very impatiently for plugin and API devs to get everything up to snuff for 1.13!

Personally I am dissatisfied with Mojang's reply. I do a lot of violent and deplorable things in video games that I would never do in real life. I play Call of Duty almost daily, but I've shot exactly 0 people. I played Jaws on the NES as a kid, but I've speared 0 sharks. I love GTA but I've stollen 0 cars and done deplorable things with 0 hookers.
I don't think pointing to the mania created by the original Jaws movies as an example of why there can't be sharks in Minecraft holds water. It's two different scenarios that take place in radically different media cultures, spanning almost a half century! If they don't want sharks, hey, it's their game and they can program what they want. My issue is with the specious reasoning in the given excuse. If that is really what is standing between us and shark infested waters, then it's ridiculous and needs to be addressed publicly.

This is a small server that focuses on survival with RPG/Adventure elements. It has lots of fun stuff like ranks that give you new abilities you can work towards, envoys for those who follow the short quest line to unlock them, and Voter/PvP crates for those who participate in those activities. Likewise, there's a suite of protection software to keep you and your builds safe from harm, as well as the necessary tools to roll back any damage done by griefers, should that occurr. It is a brand new server so there are no regulars besides myself just yet, but maybe you'll be among the first! Thank you for considering RagnaBlock and I hope you enjoy your time where ever you land.

It's an SMP server with Adventure/RPG elements to make the game feel fun and deliver a sense of fun to exploration. There is a suite of anti griefingand protection software to keep you safe and lots of fun extras like loot boxes for voting rewards, and envoys for those who follow the short quest line to unlock them. I won't lie, I just opened the server to the public so there are no regulars yet, but maybe you and your friend will be the first!

Although not fully vanilla, I run a small server called RagnaBlock with a focus on SMP with non-game-breaking plugins sot he challenge remians. It features a spawn nation where you can follow quests to purchase ranks and open new parts of the server. It is very quiet now because I'm just one guy and the serve rjust opened recently to the public, so it may be too quiet for your tastes, but I hope you'll give it a try!

Hello everyone!
I have been working on a server, RagnaBlock, and am looking for players to come and experience the world I've created. The adventure part takes place in a spawn nation called Eldignjord. It's a place where characters lead players on the road to ranking up, receiving new abilities, and opening up new parts of the server. What exists right now is basic, but more is being worked on as we speak! For those less interested in the adventure part of the game, the whole rest of the world is open to SMP with envoys, loot crates, McMMO and jobs, along with a suite of protection software, to build whatever you like!
Of course, you will be among the first players so please understand there isn't a player base yet. I'm here hoping we can change that! It's no fun being the only person on a big lonely server.
Feeling guilt tripped enough yet? I could do a little dance, if you like!
I hope you'll come and join me on RagnaBlock, and please feel free to critique it, good or bad, on the forums at RagnaBlock.enjin.com, or right here! Don't be afraid to be honest. I cannot fix it unless I know it's broken, you know? The server IP is RagnaBlock.tk:28584, or 172.106.203.31:28584
Take care, everyone, and thank you for reading my thread.

Update!
The higher level professios update is well under way. New zones are under construction in the spawn nation, soon to be followed by the quests which will lead players to powerful new abilities of their choosing!

Whitelist has been removed! The server is free to join at anytime, if you are interested. Please keep in mind it is brand new so traffic is low. I am keeping weird hours because insomnia is mean, but I'll be around.

This sounds like a good time! Maybe I'll drop in.

Still looking for help if anyone's willing.

Hello everyone.
The title says it all really. I have a new server that's going to go live sometime later this week. It's more or less put together, and I think mostly correct. But I wanted to make sure that certain features are functioning correctly. If anyone would be willing to donate a half hour...well, I don't know what I could give you,b ut it would mean the world to me. I'd really rather not use my first few official server residents as guinne pigs, but that's where I'm headed if I don't find some help.
Thank you for reading my request. You can get ahold of me at Sonata_Blue#3600 on discord if you're willing to help. Send me a message whether I'm online or not. I'll get it shortly.
