Thanks for looking into the issue. Would there be any way that you could patch the 1.1 version of wireless redstone with this fix? My server is still stuck on 1.1 with certian other mods taking their time updating, and I would love to readd this mod to my server.
Hmm. Thought the code was pretty thread safe as it was.
But I'll have a look at it when I get back home from work.
PS: This is for the vanilla SMP mod, correct?
This was on a bukkit port of the mod, but it looks like it's in the orignal mod as well. If you would look into it, it would be greatly apperciated! I would LOVE to have this back on my server!
I joined Godcraft a month ago, and I love it! Totally worth the 10$, one of the best investments in a game in my entire life! You may think that paying 10$ is silly, and that you can find a better server for free, but you can't. I pay 10$ to get into a movie and get entertained for 2 hours, but when I paid 10$ to get into Godcraft I get entertainment for up to 6 hours almost everyday! Join us and the fun :smile.gif:
This question is what the entirity of the last half of page 9 and the first half of page 10 is about? would it kill you to read some - in the end the answer was no.
If a server required me to have spout, i would be doing what i call a "disappearing act"
The end answer was that he'd look at it, but chances were low. I'm sure if I got enough support behind making a spout compatible version, he'd do it, or I could get someone else to do it as well.
And, to be honest, I wouldn't care if you do a "disappearing act". Server controlled client side plugins, I think, are awesome.
Anyways, if you could just make it not require modloader, I could probably make it work with spout since there is only one conflicting class file, px.class. I could probably splice the files together and make it work.
Obviously you haven't done your research, a server can have spout without it needing you, but that is only to install plugins that require it - plugins like "CapeMe" for example require the user to have the client version of spout in order for players to actually see the capes others are wearing.
In the config of spout a admin of a server can optionally require all users to have spout before joining the server, as they may have capes for specific factions and what not. There is also a lot of plugins that like "capeme" require both the client and server to have the client and server addition.

I'm sorry, what part of that post explains where every spout server requires you to have spout to play it? Just because you won't be able to use a spout plugin doesn't mean that you are required to install spout. You can go on a server that has CameMe on it, without installing spout, and you just won't see capes. The only way you would know that you're missing out on something is if someone told you. You have an option if you want to install spout or not, and play on just about every server, other then of course the ones that require all users to have spout via spout config.
i saw this rant, and i wanted to say i don't like spout, and will never ever EVER join a server that requires me to have it, and if a server did start requiring it i would shortly disappear from exitense on it, instead i look to minecraft forge - which is a collabaration mod API aiming to help the community produce mods together for increased compatibility, i personally beleave that it itself will 1 day replace modloader
Also i would like to say spout is on the wrong forum to pick up ANY recognition and possible replacement to modloader - unless they come here with a bang, it in my opinon is just a big waste of time
Spout doesn't require you to download it to play a server. If a server runs spout and you don't have spout, you will notice nothing different. If you do though, that's when everything comes to life with all the custom server settings.
I'm not saying one "loader" is better than another, not at all. I'm sure Spout is better just based on the fact it has more people behind it and they seem to know what they are doing. But the state of MC modding is frustrating from a modder's perspective. I want the most exposure, the most number of users. To do that I have to maximize my mod's compatibility with others. Loaders, like ModLoader, are designed to increase the capabilities a mod can have without having to conflict with others. They are like a common ground for mods to agree on. It's a necessary step in lieu of a proper modding API from Notch (which isn't going to happen). But then, everyone seems to think they know better, and there are at least 3 different 'loaders' that I know of off the top of my head, that are incompatible with each other in one way or another. That defeats the whole purpose of having them. Each loader is creating a separate ecosystem of mods which fragments and harms the modding community, not helps it. It just makes it bad for modders, bad for users who often have to use trial and error to figure out if mods are compatible, and bad for Minecraft. All I can do is hope 1 of them wins out, becomes a defacto standard, and no one expects support for the others. I honestly don't care which. Anything would be better than this :smile.gif:
I whole-heartily agree, I do which they would just stick with one. But Spout seems to be the front-runner feature-wise with server control over plugins, and I would LOVE to see everyone drop support for any other loader. Unfortunately, this is going to take time, and as hard as I know you modders work, you're going to be bombarded with requests such as mine to support, well, two completely different versions of your plugins.
