Huh. I guess you're probably right. I thought the farlands started that far out, for some reason.

posted a message on Upgrading PC, will FPS in modded minecraft increase?

Edit: Nevermind, I've mixed things up. Since I spent much more time than I should have to find this, I'm going to share this here in case someone happens to google an issue similar to mine:

-If you need to check what GPU you have in Windows 10, go to the search bar and enter "run", then enter "dxdiag", then check the "display" tab for your first GPU and the "render" tab for your second GPU. This is also where you can find a few other useful things such as the processor in "system" and maybe the display rate of your monitor in "render" but my laptop doesn't have that. You first GPU might be an integrated one, like mine.

-To get better performance from your GPU on a game, right-click the file (whether it's on your desktop or in the file explorer), then hover over "Run with a graphics processor" and select the "high-performance NVIDIA" option. Not sure if other GPU brands have a high-performance option, though.

Continuing the second tip, now, I haven't tried this because I've only had time to test Minecraft but I assume it works. For your Steam games, you can right-click an application that has the "high-performance NVIDIA" option available but instead of selecting that, click on "change defaults". Now you can select a program/game or just the global settings and pick which graphics settings to run for each by default. By graphics settings, I just mean you can pick "high-performance" and/or which GPU to run.

I feel like I'm talking to my past self. Hopefully I'll have helped someone in the future.

Hi, I'm still learning about computer hardware. I bought a computer from Amazon but they sent me one with the completely wrong GPU that is just pure crap! I'm returning the computer to get the correct one.

I'll still have an Intel Core i5-7300HQ but the GPU is going from an Intel HD 630 to a GTX 1050. The GTX 1050 is supposedly 250% better than the other, according to userbenchmark, but will I see a difference in modded Minecraft?

I ask because I want to finish my mod pack of 50 mods and start playing on this crap computer. From the moderately-sized mod pack of 45 I'm using on this junk GPU, I get 30 FPS on my settings.

If the GTX 1050 increases FPS, then I'd love to get a few more of my favorite mods in and start playing before the correct laptop is sent.

Quick edit: I haven't got any shaders or texture packs.

posted a message on Got an old Mac? We need your help!

    1. Yes, it runs.

    2. 10.13.6

    3. iMac14,1

    4. Intel Iris Pro and system information says "Intel Iris Pro 1536 MB". Not sure what the last part's for.

    5. Pretty sure I'm on the latest version.

Other info from system information and Minecraft:

    - 21.5-inch, Late 2013 iMac

    - 2.7 GHz Intel Core i5

    - auto-allocated 2 GB out of 8 GB RAM to Minecraft. That's different from my PC that allocated 1 GB, if I remember. Also, it typically uses up to 1200 GB RAM on the new world I made with 1600 MB allocated in-game.

    - It runs with 40 through 100 FPS on 16 chunk range and all settings on their "high". That actually surprised me! It's running a new world in a taiga biome above ground. Edit: after running the world for a few more minutes, the low drops to 70 FPS. Guess the world was still loading.

Actually, to whoever said the world isn't infinite, AntVenom can prove you wrong! He removed his world border and later discovered what he called the "farther lands".

If I were in this situation, I'd do what this guy did. This 2-minute video shows how you can mine a few chunks of space out, press f3+g to view and separate chunk borders with fences, then go AFK to come back in a few minutes to find which chunks contain slimes.

posted a message on How to Transfer Inventory from one Minecraft account to another on my private server.

As far as I know, no. I'm saying no instead of yes with a helpful answer because I doubt anyone will answer because I don't believe there is any way to transfer inventories.

Since it's your private server, can you enable cheats and add what items you knew you had? If you can, you can also give yourself experience using the command "/xp number".

Before posting my reply, I googled your question by typing "minecraft transfer inventory between accounts" and the websites seem promising. I can't read too much since I'm falling asleep but here is the first one: https://gaming.stackexchange.com/questions/112513/how-can-i-move-my-character-including-all-its-content-from-one-world-save-to-a

posted a message on Is this a bug?

I've seen this bug before on the Hermitcraft server from YouTube. It's probably been reported because the bug was in 1.13, too, but 1.13.1 didn't claim to fix it. Please report it? Hopefully that's an easy thing to do but I've never done that before.

Also, Husks and Strays are boring but not a bad mob. Mojang's idea for them was poorly executed but they're still not very different from zombies and skeletons. I say this because I'm pretty sure you made a thread about how awful these two mobs are.

That's why I don't play with larger biomes--I'll never be able to find all of them without traveling tens of thousands of blocks. You can use the biome finder website I linked to in a post above for survival minecraft if you don't consider that cheating!

I've spawned in normal-sized ice spike biomes before and they've been extremely tiny, like every other one I've found. If you're playing with normal-sized biomes, you shouldn't have that problem. Why do you like your large biomes?

posted a message on 10th Anniversary Update (1.14) for 2019?

What do you want to bet that the next major update, 1.14, will be given special care and features since it will be Minecraft's 10th anniversary?

With that realization in mind, what features might we receive for such a special occasion? Do you believe Mojang will make this update any more special than others?

I doubt that we will have an "optimization" update since 1.13 introduced tons of fish and laggy water-logged blocks and more. Maybe a Dimension overhaul where the Nether and End might be fun to survive in? I can imagine more interesting caves, especially since 1.13 made a step by adding ocean caves. We really need more interesting caves, especially since "Mine(ing)" makes up half of its name!

The wiki claims that the theme hasn't been revealed but there will be many new slabs and stairs. Isn't that great? It's about time!

posted a message on Seriously seeking a jungle

I assume you already know this, but in case you don't, here is a biome finder. Type in your seed at the top, press enter, then select the game version at the bottom and you'll probably want to set the filter to jungle only. Also, if you don't press enter after typing in the seed, then that seed won't load.

posted a message on Slime Spawn Low Minecraft 1.13

    Alright.

I found this reddit post on it and u/PhantomSwagger fixed the OP's (Original Poster's) slime farm. He said that the render distance, if less than 10, is what's causing this and the OP came back and confirmed that this was the issue. Try setting your render distance to 10 (or 11 to be safe).

posted a message on Any good mods for a survival world 1.12.2

Try Aether Legacy and/or wait for the end of the year when Aether II is released! You can add both mods at any time without an issue because all the new content is in a whole other dimension.

And Worley Caves makes caves generate in more interesting ways. Here is a short video to give you an idea of what to expect. You don't even need to watch all of it.

And, most importantly, Enhanced Snowmen lets your snow golems deal .5 damage with snowballs so they're useful once again!

posted a message on Slime Spawn Low Minecraft 1.13

Is 24 blocks the closest you can get to still spawn? Maybe you should sit 3 chunks out just to be safe. Also, difficulty level affects spawn rates. So hard difficulty spawn more mobs than easy difficulty (along with damage and sometimes health buffs).

And I hesitate to say this but you don't always need tons of slime. Unless, of course, you actually use tons of slime or trade it on a server.

Sorry for not having an exact answer but I wouldn't want this post to go without any help.

posted a message on Tell me about world corruption, please!

I've recently just fixed my first corrupted world, but now I'm curious. What I did was generate a world with the same name and seed and custom settings, then replace the corrupted level.dat of the corrupted world with the fresh level.dat of the fresh world. This allowed me to keep all of my structures but I did lose my inventory. For anyone using this info to solve their corrupted world, know that you don't need the same seed.

Then I noticed a few odd things. I can't remember everything, but the only major one was two very out of place chunks. They were close to each other and seemed to generate as two chunks pulled out of a different seed. If anyone knows why this is, please tell me about it. I picked out 40 medium and small mods myself that I knew wouldn't cause lag in the long-term. Could one of these mods have helped to corrupt my game? I'm just a few hours into my game so I am absolutely prepared to remove some if I must.

I simply went into creative to get the exact coordinates of two corners of each of the chunks and used the "/fill x y z x y z block 0 DESTROY" command and gave myself all the cobblestone of the chunks because I totally deserved something for my time, lol. Then I replaced my inventory. I always have cheats enabled because I know I will encounter strange things.

If you've read through this, thanks so much for your time! I understand not everyone will have answers I'm looking for, so thanks in advance for checking this post out!
