laurenvc posted a message on [v3.7] AMIDST - Strongholds, Village, Biome, Etc. Finder. [1.7.4]oh my goodness, this is an awesome program. Thank you so much for creating this and extra thanks for making it work on macs, most people don't bother. really though, it worked perfectly for me right off the bat. I've been bumbling around my world for days looking for a village, and I just couldn't find one for the life of me! now I can go and find a use for all the emeralds i've gotten. thank you, thank you, thank you!Posted in: Minecraft Tools - To post a comment, please login.

Thanks for supporting me! Every bit helps!
As for your problem, I'll need a detailed error message. Unfortunately (as I've noticed) the error messages people have been posting quickly lots of screenshots and generally they don't get the whole message. I think my next goal will be to add a crash dialog with an easy-to-paste error message.
Until then, if you could give me a full error log, that'd be great.
I was thinking about this a bit. I think that logging might not be the best option.-- I may add it temporarly, but I'd like to see a more flexible way to search through maps.
I'm not entirely sure what's causing this error, but I'll do a bit of testing today.
The problem is that there's only so much I can do with Java's 2D rendering system. However, I'll see what I can do!
Thank you, thank you, thank you. I barely get by as it is, so all support and advertising I can get helps.
That IS weird. Maybe it ties into the problem other people have been having. It would really help if you could upload your map. However, since maps are large, I would include everything BUT region/DIM1/DIM-1 folders.
Weird... I don't recognize a lot of the libraries in that list. Perhaps you've used Forge and it downloaded them?
Thank you!
I'm certainly looking into adding something like this, but the problem is finding a user friendly way of adding it.
That's not really a bug report, now is it?
It works fine for me.
And so no one became any wiser. If you would post errors or perhaps describe what doesn't work for you - does the program start at all? If so, that part obviously works. Does it render random seeds? Custom entered seeds? Did you upload your level.dat somewhere so Ski could take a look at it? No? Then that might also be a good thing to do.
Also, read http://www.catb.org/...html#idp5122192 for future reference when reporting something that doesn't work - for you.
Exactly this. I can not magically look into a computer and see what's going wrong. Especially if there's no information provided.

Try the debug version.

It's a bit unclear on what Minecraft does when the spawn-point locating code returns 0,0. I'm under the impression it does something using block data. I may look into it again, but for the time being, we may just have to put up with that.

Edit:
Did a quick release to support these new snapshots. This may or may not cause issues on some computers... but I doubt it.

It looks like 39a requires some new libraries. Unfortunately, one of these is Mojang's new "authlib-1.1.jar" which I cannot redistribute. I suppose I'll just make AMIDST use the libraries it finds. At the very least, this will lower the file size of AMIDST.

AMIDST 3.3 is completely backwards compatible. (Possibly more so than 2.1)
This is actually a bug, I thought I had already added support for it. Turns out, I forgot one little bit. It'll be in the next update. (Until then, just use the world seed)
I might be able to do something like this, but it's very tricky to do using Java2D.
This will be fixed in the next update, sorry. (Although amplified does not affect biome generation)
Not actually the case. I just stole their color scheme.
Use the debug version, and get me the error log.
There's a few options here. I do think something like a color key on the side (as an optional layer) would be nice. However, the trick is that I can't make a specific biome highlight itself within the map. This would require a large amount of work, as I'd have to rewrite how the entire map is rendered. Ideally I'd switch to something like OpenGL, but that's a big change.

I have no idea what you're saying.

Unrelated, but: When I hosted a private server, I would just use Mystcraft and have portals going back to each of our old worlds as we regenerated the entire map. The backup size got a bit large, though. I even had a world from one of the original releases of Minecraft multiplayer. It surprisingly worked (after opening it once in single player to change the formatting)
Thank you very much. Tickets always make things so much easier to keep track of.
I'm hoping to move to a bit faster release model. At the moment, I think I'm going to stay away from many new features. (Specifically ones that require a nice preferences menu-- spawn location is fine) Instead, I'm doing bug fixes, and more importantly, performance increases. I think I -might- be able to greatly increase world generation time. Or at the very least, reduce the RAM usage of AMIDST.
