    Quote from BENJAMIN1

I have both hamachi and have port forwarded and neither works. People joined my hamachi server but can't log into my MC server. I have tried everything. My Ipv4 is 10.0.0.7 and my ip is 93.103.104.180, my hamachi ip is 25.106.126.245. I port forwarded with 10.0.0.7 and the port 25565 in both spots.
    .

You don't need to use Hamachi if you are going to port forward. IPv4 is a version of your IP, so they should be the same. I recommend that you try port forwarding port 25565 with 93.103.104.180. If you need port fowarding help, use this website. Just select your router on the first two pages, and then find Minecraft Server on the third. The page will guide you in port forwarding your router.

posted a message on Plugin Name
    Quote from DarkAngelScreams

    Hey,

I have a Minecraft server and would like to have a plugin that shows when other owners or staff have banned a player. How do I find what plugin this is? Is it like McBan. I want like a plugin so I can search banned players or a website and a notification.

I don't know what plugin this is or if its even made yet.
    All help is much appreciated.

    Thank you

    Here you go: Ban Management

Keep in mind you will need to hook up the plugin with a MySQL server and set up a website which users can use to search for banned players.

Right, but like my post said, I've tried actually all 3 of them (permissionsbukkit, PermissionsEx, and bpermissions. Also tried YAPP, to no avail. I can set groups all day long, but as far as them actually performing the commands, no dice.

You can not use the same config for all 3 plugins, as they all have different formats. You must configure your permissions in accordance to the format of the plugin you are using. Also, could you please elaborate on what you mean when you say "performing the commands" because I am unsure as to what commands you are referring to. Are you talking about commands for other plugins that you don't have permission to use? Or are you referring to the commands used to configure the permissions plugin? (some plugins have this)

alright, instead of reading through every single post to find what is closest to my problem, I'm just going to post it and hope it gets fixed. I have a newer server, and I've never dabbled with the permissions before. My groupings and individual player configs are not recognizing and not allowing me to use the groups in-game.

    here is the config.
    http://pastie.org/7653416

I do not have any permissions plugins, because as I understand it bukkit has it built in. I've tried the same config with PermissionsBukkit and PermissionsEX, and still no luck. Please help!

Actually, you will still need a permissions plugin as CraftBukkit does not have an actual group or permissions system built in. It is merely an API for plugin developers to create permissions plugins for server owners. I recommend you install PermissionsEx or bPermissions.

Here is a quote from Dinnerbone, a Bukkit Team Member.

Does this mean I don't need plugins to set permissions now?
Bukkit just provides the concept of permissions, you'll still need to get a plugin to tell bukkit which players should get which permissions when.

I'm really stressed out and having problems. I use groupmanager because I don't understand PermissionsEx at all. I need someone who knows Groupmanager well and can figure out why my prefixes I set for individual groups isn't working. Also I need to disable items for only certain groups if you could give me a little input on how to do that also it would be much appreciated. Mainly I need the groups to be working with their designated prefixes. At this point I'm completely lost and don't know what to do. Please help me ASAP.

It seems your groups.yml file is flawless. I think you are lacking a chat managing plugin. In order for prefixes to work in chat, you must have one. In your case, I recommend you install EssentialsChat, which can be downloaded here, and is included with the core Essentials plugins.

This part NEVER seems to work for me. In single and multiplayer! When I drag the files over they copy over fine but they never show in actual minecraft. Btw thanks for replying. :)

Also how to I download bukkit? I can't find a link that works!

That is very strange. Did you make sure that Minecraft or the server wasn't running?

You can download Bukkit here. Click on "Alternate Versions" to see the newest builds.

Yes, I use mods all the time in singleplayer but I have trouble with using universal mods on my servers.

If you want to install a Minecraft Server mod, then I have listed the steps below (for Windows Operating Systems). Keep in mind that only some mods are available to install on servers. You can not install a singleplayer mod on a server, unless the author has provided a server version of the mod.

    1. Get WinRAR. Don't worry, it is free.
    2. Download the mod you would like to install on the server. It usually comes in a .zip file or .rar file.
    3. Open your mod files.
    4. Go to your server directory, and be sure you have minecraft_server.jar, not Minecraft_Server.exe. You can download it from Mojang here.
    5. Right click on the minecraft_server.jar file and hover over Open With. Select WinRAR.
    6. Open the WinRAR window for the mod files and the WinRAR window for the server at the same time. Be sure you can see both windows at the same time.
    7. Select all the files in the WinRAR window for the mod by clicking the top most item (the file bellow the ".."), holding shift, and then clicking the bottom most item. Click and drag those items to the minecraft_server.jar WinRAR window.
    8. Lastly, in the server's WinRAR window, delete the "META-INF" folder by selecting it, and pressing delete on your keyboard.
    9. Run the server. Try double clicking the jar file. If this fails, go to your "cmd". The best way to do this is by holding shift, right clicking on the server's folder, and selecting "Open command window here". This will automatically direct the cmd to the folder. If you are launching the cmd from another location, use "cd (file directory)" to change directories (without the quotation marks or parenthesis).
    10. (Skip this step if you were able to run the server by double clicking the .jar file) Use one of the commands below, depending on how much RAM you want to allocate to the server. Do not include the (#GB) when pasting the command into the cmd.

    java -Xmx1024M -Xms1024M -jar minecraft_server.jar (1GB)
    java -Xmx2048M -Xms2048M -jar minecraft_server.jar (2GB)
    java -Xmx3072M -Xms3072M -jar minecraft_server.jar (3GB)
    java -Xmx4096M -Xms4096M -jar minecraft_server.jar (4GB)

    11. Join your server with the same mods on your singleplayer that are on the server.

    Hope this helps!
