PvP is a large part of the game whether you like it or not. Just take a look at the survival server lists, ~half are pvp.

    Quote from Awesomebob74

While the vid may have been a joke, it did have a lot of truth to it:

TRUE. I've played with texture packs the moment I discovered that section of the forums. Roghly 3 days after I bought the game I was using soartex x64. There's no heart the appearance of the game's graphics. I could easily compare this to walking onto a car lot and buying a brand new car covered in rust and primer.

TRUE. It's nice, but nothing to write home to Ma about.

FALSE. Double tap forward to sprint? No fluid swimming controls? No way to low crawl through 1x1x1 openings? Not game breaking, but damn lazy design.

TRUE. I've play simpler games with more intuitive combat. This part of the games needs to be scrapped and completely redone.

TRUE. They used to not be there in 1.8. If they'd have kept it like this, it would have been great. But instead, in 1.9, they added a bunch of ugly, brainless, useless NPCs to clutter up the place. Now after release, do they do anything new? Nope. The official response? We hired an AI guy, he starts in January. :Skeleton: **** you notch.

TRUE. If you don't agree with this, try using your 1.0.0 mods in the latest snapshot.

TRUE. This, right here, is the only thing they should have been working on. The modders are what makes this game good.

TRUE. But very forgivable. Skipping trolls along the coast and zombie Klingon spaceship dragons in Skyrim say bugs are okee dokee. Just fix em, k?

TRUE. Where's copper, tin, bronze, aluminum steel, etc. ? These are all very useful resources and frankly, I'm surprised they weren't in day one. Plus, finding more stuff is ALWAYS better.
Not only should there be more resources, there should be more basic building blocks.
Lessee... Marble, granite, limestone and shale would be a nice addition to the 3 very similar stones we already have access to.
Also, there can be more gems that could be used like ruby, emerald, opal and jade (first 4 that popped into my head) that could be made into even more building blocks or used in things like potions, enchanting and circuitry. Or even used as currency with lord Whatanose in the village of shame.

    TRUE.
Sandy deserts bordering a taiga, Swamps, Tree-less mountains, mountain-less forests.

    TRUE.
If you go with the "flow" of the game, you have to have had diamonds already because you used blazes to make the things the found the place, right? SO WHY AM I REWARDED WITH IRON GEAR?! Not to mention the usualy crappy selection of useless saddles and cocoa beans with the occasional golden apple. I like the paper and books from the libraries... Not that there's any, you know, BOOKCASES around to plunder. They need spawners spitting out mobs unique to strongholds. They needs mazes and puzzles. Most importatly... THEY NEED TO BE THE LAST THING GENERATED! So sick of having to rebuild these things just to explore them.

TRUE. Food has so many problems in the eyes of the users. Needs to be torn apart and redesigned.

TRUE. It's more tedious than challenging. Hopefully that AI guy can re-make the encounter.

TRUE AND FALSE. Multiplayer mileage may vary. I follow Mr. Crowshaw on this: A game needs to stand on single player alone. Multiplayer is just a bonus.

For me: TRUE. For anyone else: ?
This one's mired in opinion. I, for one, can't play vanilla. It's boring and missing so much that I have to have mods installed to even double click the launcher.

    .
    TRUE AND FALSE.
True in that there was a lot of potential wasted. The adventure aspect of the game needs a heavy dose of borax to get the grime off.
False in that the creative side of this game is what caused it to explode. Kinda like what Gary Newman did with his little project...

I have no opinion as this game is the first I've heard of notch, and due to the sloppy nature MC was handled, I will not be sampling anything else from him... ever.

    TRUE.
    Dictionary relevant entry on "release"
The act or an instance of issuing something for publication, use, or distribution.

    Examples:
Bethesda released The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim on 11/11/11
Rocksteady released Batman: Arkham City on 10/17/11
Warner Bros. released Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows part 2 on 7/15/11
    Mojang released Minecraft on 11/18/11

Even though the game is still very much a beta game.

    FALSE.
For me anyway. For as vocal as I am against the asshattery with this game, I've definitely got my $24 out of it.
Heck I get more out of this game than some of the $50-$60 games I have.
Doesn't excuse the sloppy release, however.

    That's not the point.
The point is to voice concerns on the OFFICIAL minecraft forums so that these concerns may be viewed by the proper people and FIXED.

You are the most intelligent person in this thread so far.

posted a message on Why do people hate minecraft on a minecraft website?

No , that is not the case , this people is not ciriticizing.

Have you seen that thread called " why does minecraft suck "

That is right , it is just saying : MINECRAFT SUCKS , and this is why.

If it was : Minecraft is heading on a wrong direction , but this is what could make the game better.

    That is criticism.

But , what we see in this forum is not criticism , is whining and hating, specially whining.

    It's the same f*cking thing.

point out the flaws, notch plz fix these to make the game better.
    vs
notch game is great! but it has some issues, like etc. fixing them would make the game so much better! thanks!

all the same except the second one is done with some whiteknighting, which is really just patting notch's @ss.

Love how very few people actually respond to the issues the guy addresses, and instead call me a troll, retard, and calling the video a satire video when it's obvious one of the channel's (few) serious videos.

But for those that want to acutally discuss the issues with me and not just be a notch fanboy, i'm happy to oblige! It seems the only logical argument you guys have come up with is that minecraft deserves a 8+/10 because of it's creative side, and you think that just because it's a sandbox game it automatically deserves a 10/10. I mean, sure, minecraft could be fun if you enjoy building and have an extremely high attention span, but for most this is not enough to keep them playing. It has obvious issues and just because it is a sandbox game in which you could technically be infinitely entertained, doesn't mean you'll enjoy it.

So you rage that minecraft is a horrible game, yet you have over 250 posts on the minecraft forums? If you want popularity, earn it the right way. Get a life.

Since when is 250 considered a lot of posts? lol... how about you stop being a dumbass and realize I've been here a lot longer than you, and naturally have more posts?

love how you all say the reviewer is "biased" because he doesn't like the graphics. It is only one of the MANY points he makes in the video.

He set a date that he shouldn't have and it's a game that progresses faster then it is polished, I still enjoy it.

If you get arrows and a diamond sword (investment in strategy) it's a lot easier, which makes sense. Go out fight naked with a shitty sword and tell me the combat system is easy.

Well no **** that'll be hard, go fight an endgame boss with no equipment on any other game and it's going to be difficult. Horrible example.
    Quote from Niclauke

Are you expecting to see a GTA-Graphic game with an infinite world, and you can build whatever you want and combat more like SKYRIM, and NPCs like OBLIVION?

    Well, then you are nuts.

I expect a better mob AI, slightly better graphics (not talking GTA but notch hiring an artist and working a bit on it), better combat system, NPCs you can communicate with, all the features notch promised, unique updates rather than updates stolen from mods, less glitches, more challenge, better biome transitions, etc.

Leo, it's more when there are obviously things in minecraft that are lacking but still fanboys go "ITS NOT FINISHED YET" (note it's now RELEASED) "SO WHAT ITS MINECRAFT, GRAPHICS DONT MATTER!"

Kyo It doesn't matter, the mob AI is horrible and I'm sure if he played it carefully he could EASILY kill all those mobs without taking a single point of damage. The video was just to make a point.

Yes, he makes a lot of troll videos, but this one is serious.

It doesn't matter if he didn't go over positives (which he did, sound, controls, etc), he makes some very good points. I'm not taking it as a review, I'm taking it as a video addressing some of minecraft's major issues.
    Quote from DaBiggman

That's a pretty solid review by someone who isn't drinking the koolaid. Though I wouldn't have shown it here where most people on these forums are jumping on Notch's pole thinking he will notice them.

I appreciate it though, good work.

Just lookat the amount of notch fanboys in this thread, it's amazing.

Graphics do not make a game, unlike most big game companies think.

Mojang is hiring an AI specialist around December.

    The game isn't finished yet.

Now Jeb is working on a modding API. As for including mods, isn't that what so many mod makers want? Some major mods' (ex allocators) makers try hard to get their mod included. And its what the players want too. Also, look at pistons then look at the piston mod. Mojang did not include the piston mod, they included pistons, which are completely different even if they are based off of the original piston idea.

There's a lot more to Minecraft than mining.

Cocoa beans are not useless if you want brown wool. Two cocoa beans + two sheep = infinite brown wool. Plus, they can be collected as a "trophy" to show how many dungeons have been found. Also, have you tried coding a randomly generated structure more complex than strongholds?

Wrong. Poison foods do not heal. They increase the hunger bar, but since they decrease a little after it's full, the bar is never high enough to heal hearts.

Provide an example of a non-tedious boss.

You don't have to play on multiplayer, but many find building with friends is easier and more fun.

So far Minecraft is the only game that hasn't lost its appeal after a few months to me. It hasn't because the amount one can do isn't limited.

I could just as easily say that anyone who gives MC 2.25/10 should not be trusted, because there are obviously good things about it.

Whether or not this is true, many still came. the price regulates the number of people that try to get a ticket, if it is higher than less people will be disappointed in not being able to get a ticket for lack of space.

    Explain.

How are they hypocrites, and when did they curse in front of children? Unless you have video evidence or enough trustworthy witnesses to back up that claim, it's probably a rumor.

Isn't every game nowadays at least somewhat based off of other games? Every genra of game has already been taken. Minecraft is more original than most games created at that time and after. The game it was based off of was discontinued, but if you want to play it instead of Minecraft, go ahead. Nobody is going to stop you, we'll all just have fun in Minecraft without you.

Mojang is still working on it, unlike most game companies would do. Besides, every game has downsides and glitches.

But graphics do make a game more fun to play, say whatever you want but a more visually appealing game is obviously better. It's why so many people use texture packs.

I'm actually really glad he is, because as of now they are horrible.

    But it's 1.0, technically "released".

Yes but it's a lazy move on Notch's part to use mods when he ran out of ideas. When he did run out of ideas he should have started working on the modding API, he didn't so he could make more money.

Yes, but the point is the game isn't very challenging, and that you can pretty much get the best mineral in the game in only an hour.

So what? Yeah sure, it can make brown wool, but what's the point of that? You could say it looks nice but really it has no point other than aesthetics, it adds nothing to the game.

You're actually wrong here, I've tried healing with poisonous flesh and it works just fine.

Any game with a half decent ending has a better boss fight, in minecraft the boss just flys around getting healed, while you shoot arrows at him and his towers. Tell me that's not tedious...

You could say that for ANYTHING. ANYTHING is more fun with friends.

Maybe you have a high attention span, but it became very boring for me after a month or so.

What he's trying to say is major gaming sites like IGN, have inaccurate reviews. I can bet you that many game companies PAY major game reviewing sites to give their games a high score.

Scrolls is just another card trading game turn based game, google that and see how many of those there already are. :sleep.gif:

Watch the damn video and you'll see your video 'evidence'

Yeah but mots of those games don't get awards for "innovation", like notch did.

    Still, it's the release version.

Okay , i watched like half of it, so know people wont say " Omgz , yu dydnt washed teh video , thu knt say its teh bat revyw " ( yes " a blind moron " im talking about you ).

He literally just said : Ok , guys , this game sucks , because of this and this and this , this is all , best game review ever.

Where are the positive points? , his review is not neutral ( like every game review has to be ).

a real game review : Welcome guys to this game called minecraft , it has only 16bit graphics , that is alittle boring , but it is very popular with an amazing gameplay, the AI of the creatures is bad , but this game has made to the top , some people say this game is way too simple and boring , which i kinda agree , but the gameplay and the unique features of this game make it unique.

That is how you review games , you say some positive stuff , then you go with the negative stuff... then everything adds up to a NEUTRAL review.

This guy barely knows how to make a video.

Since when does a review HAVE to have positives? He can review it anyway he wants.

    Quote from JD3V3N3Y

    - Minecraft's retro graphics are lazily done, kept programmer art rather than hiring a good artist and giving minecraft it's own style. Provides various examples of games with retro graphics like minecraft that look better.
There's a reason for keeping programmer graphics. Minecraft wouldn't be the same without them. Also, if you don't like it, there's plenty of other texture packs out there. Quit your bitching.

    - Combat is extremely simple, easy, and boring. No attack animations from enemies, weak pathfinding (example trying to walk through walls to get to you) Only thing you can do is crit, sprint, or regularly attack.
The game isn't made for the combat. In case you forgot, it was originally a sandbox game.

    - Abrupt and ugly biome transitions.
Again with the graphics. IT'S MINECRAFT. And besides, I really don't see anything wrong with the biome transitions...

    - Doesn't see the appeal in multiplayer, far more entertaining multiplayer games.
How do you not see any appeal in multiplayer? Do you have no friends? I guess not because, like any other game, that's what makes MP fun. Friends.

    - Game loses appeal quickly.
That's your opinion. If that's a fact, then how do you explain the amount of people that have played MC for over a year?

    - Notes that minecraft is 1.0, RELEASE VERSION.
    Cool story, bro. Needs dinosaurs.

    - Overall, can't recommend minecraft to anyone for $30, $15, not even for $6.99 on the app store. Not even for free.
    - 2.25/10 score

Haha, you're not even saying it's worth it for free? Obvious troll is obvious.

The rest of the points you made don't really matter. I just pointed out the main ones.
    umad?
    /thread

(only looks at 3-4 of his points, provides weak arguments)
(thinks I made the points, leads me to believe you didn't read the topic or watch the vid)
(Says all other points "don't really matter")
    Lol... u srs?

There's a reason for keeping programmer graphics. Minecraft wouldn't be the same without them. Also, if you don't like it, there's plenty of other texture packs out there. Quit your bitching.
No, a game shouldn't depend on the community in order to be decent.

The game isn't made for the combat. In case you forgot, it was originally a sandbox game.
If combat is in the game, then it's a part of the game. Therefore combat should be improved. Doesn't matter what it "originally" was. "originally" there weren't any of the features we have today, then does that mean it's okay that the features we have today are bad, because they weren't "originally" in the game? lol..

Again with the graphics. IT'S MINECRAFT. And besides, I really don't see anything wrong with the biome transitions...
Nice argument there, "it's minecraft so it's okay it looks bad". Lol. Have you SEEN the transitions from swamp to forest/desert? It literally goes from a swampy looking grass straight to a foresty one, looks gross.

How do you not see any appeal in multiplayer? Do you have no friends? I guess not because, like any other game, that's what makes MP fun. Friends.

"But every game is fun with friends!" Yeah and there are better games that are more fun with friends, a great example is saints row 3. Also nice job insulting my social life because my opinion doesn't agree with yours. What are you 12?

That's your opinion. If that's a fact, then how do you explain the amount of people that have played MC for over a year?
Just because people do something doesn't make it true. Lots of people are retards.

    Cool story, bro. Needs dinosaurs.
And then you call me a troll? Lol... strong hypocrite.
