The changes are pretty damn good, actually. I mean, before you were running around aimlessly just sorta... surviving. Now the game is all about surviving WITH added goals and special enhancements (potions and enchanting) to look forward to. Honestly, it's pretty alright.
For the record, and I can't be bothered to check if this was stated before, but distilling gunpowder into any potion makes it a throwable one, and creates an area of effect where it lands.
How do I get (char)coal? I am playing on the 1.0 version (3X3 island).. I don't wanne put my lava in the furnace to make charcoal because I need my lava. Also there are no coal blocks on this island.
I have seen redstone in the movie. But I guess redstone isn't on this version?
You do realize the wood itself makes pretty good fuel in a furnace, right?
On a side note, I just installed a water chute next to my tree farm to throw logs into that leads to my furnace room that will be turned into charcoal.
It's been two days IRL. But I have made my stronghold-esque skyblock a well-oiled machine of construction. Not one piece of redstone required.
After ten minutes of water-rappeling, I managed to create a farm for every type of crop. In the process, I've made my cobble generator move the broken cobble into a room that's full of furnaces, and a good four steps away from where I break it.
My mob platform, deemed worthless once I obtained all the mob items I needed, is now a very successful tree farm. I'm getting more wood than I need.
I had to fly to get these pictures, but everything you see here is indeed 100% legitimate. I've completed all 20 challenges.
It's been fun. I keep finding ways to improve, but I think I'm gonna start a new one soon.
Grass can only spawn and spread. If there are no grass blocks left on the island, the only way to get more grass blocks is to build a bridge to the mainland. Having done this with cobblestone, I can certainly say it would be faster to simply start a new game than to wait for the grass to spread along your bridge. I can only imagine how long it would take grass to spread along a 1x500+ block line hahaha.
I had grass grow on the dirt I had my sugar cane growing on. It was near water most of its time. I would say that if you leave grass near water long enough, you'll probably end up with grass.

I ultimately ended up like this.
I tried making a mob spawner, which is what that big cobble building is. The tree ended up as my tree house.
It was fun making this floating stronghold, but now, I'm restarting. Gonna try something new.

Yeah... I don't like to brag...
But my stronghold island is pretty amazing.
(if you think I hacked the mossy and cracked stone bricks in, read up on how stone brick stairs work when broken first)
