posted a message on Who are the best Youtubers for minecraft letsplays?
Probably just sounding like a broken record here, but Etho is by far my favorite YouTube Minecrafter, but in all honesty, you can't go wrong with any of the Mindcrackers! VintageBeef, and BdoubleO are two others that I watch from time to time as well! Their singleplayer videos are incredible, but it's also really awesome when the Mindcrackers come together on videos too! They're such funny people, and they can do incredible things in Minecraft (that an uncreative person like myself can't even DREAM of doing)!

So yea, check out the Mindcrackers, especially Etho!

posted a message on Building a city through time
It's a good start, but it looks just like a combination of the two posts you linked. Maybe add a bit of your own variety to it, and then it can become a legitimate challenge!

posted a message on Building Adventure server for my kids
I believe that still will work in an adventure mode server, but that's only hear-say for me, I'm a complete moron when it comes to servers.

However, I would like to point out that you are officially one of the coolest parents that I've ever heard of. Very few parents get involved in things that their kids do on the internet nowadays, and you're not only monitoring, but heck, you've built them a whole WORLD! That's pretty dang awesome! Diamonds to you sir! :Diamond: :Diamond: :Diamond: :Diamond: :Diamond: :Diamond: :Diamond: :Diamond: :Diamond: :Diamond: :Diamond: :Diamond: :Diamond: :Diamond:

posted a message on Do You Use The Default Textures?
I like the default texture pack. It's the only one that I can really find in which I like the majority of the blocks. Texture packs usually have just one or two things that turn me off to the whole pack. I suppose I could just create my own, but hey, why reinvent the wheel?

I do have to admit though, using themed texture packs every once in a while just to see what it's like is pretty entertaining. And like others have said before me, the Faithful texture pack is very nice; if I HAD to use one, that would be it! It's very close to the original, just softer, almost.

I like that design, especially with the windows in the sides of the roof itself. Good place to store excess items too! Or you could make a man-cave too.. :steve_wink:

Wow, that's a really nice start to a world! I'm more of a dirt shack kinda guy when I start off! Not gonna lie, that's actually a pretty nice looking starter house haha!

You should keep updating this thread as you progress more in the world, so that way we can keep seeing what you're doing!

posted a message on So I need help.
I agree with what Eternique said, Hamachi is your best bet. It's a really easy download that, essentially, allows people to link their computers together over the internet so that they can play on a server together. It's great for quick, easy personal servers, like the one you're speaking about.

posted a message on My survival base
It's definitely a good start! I like all the color you brought underground using the lapis, brick, grass, and plants. The only thing that I would recommend (because I'm a very OCD builder) is that you polish up the pathways a little bit, for example, in the first picture, off to the side of your path, there is a random cave there. If you're going to use that to go to a different part of your base, make a path like the first, if not, wall it off, or make it a neater transition! And maybe just try to add variety by way of decorations around your base? That's always a good way to spice things up!

Hope this helps! Good luck building! Can't wait to see what else you come up with!

posted a message on Favorite Places to Build Homes
I really like starting off my building my homes in the ground (or in the side of a mountain), giving it a cave-like feel. Once I've settled there, I tend to start building "outposts" in all the other biomes that I can find which reflect the look and feel of the biome, for example, in the tundra biome, I build big igloos, or in the rainforest biomes, I build tree houses. Then I usually hook all these up with some form of Nether transportation for easy access!

posted a message on What is a good laptop to run Minecraft?
Well, this probably isn't very helpful because this laptop isn't a good one to buy SPECIFICALLY for Minecraft because of the cost, but my Macbook Air runs Minecraft very well at 30+ fps (more with optifine) with full graphics and render distance toggled on.

If you want specs for my specific Macbook:
    Size: 13"
    Memory: 128GB
    RAM: 4GB
    Processor: Intel Core i5 1.8GHz

It's a terrific laptop, but believe me when I say I didn't buy it specifically for Minecraft haha! The fact that it runs Minecraft well is just an added bonus!

Dont' know how helpful this is exactly, but I hope it will help you get a ballpark estimate on stats!

    Happy shopping!

posted a message on What is the ugliest looking block
I'm personally not a fan of the emerald block. I don't know, it's just a very odd shade of green in my opinion! The design on it isn't too bad, but I feel like the block should have been made a darker green! Oh well, nothing a texture pack can't change haha!
