Glad I didn't try to build anything up there then lol. Some of the ghast farm videos talk about building the farm above the nether, so I thought I'd ask before wasting any time trying to build some big contraption. Thanks for the heads up.
Can mobs, specifically Ghasts, spawn above the Nether on the PS3 version? I've read they can on the pc version as long as you place solid blocks on top of the bedrock up there. Is this the same for PS3?
Haha that would be perfect, if he were still alive. Can you name tag slime so they won't despawn? If so, I am heading to my slime farm next time I play and getting me a new pet lol.
I was quite a bit away from a swamp, right in the middle of my desert which is surrounded by jungle and grassland.. Probably 100+ blocks away from a swamp. I didn't think they would spawn if I was that far away.. Either way, I'm not complaining. I like the slimes lol.
So I was in the desert biome on my map checking out my iron golem farm when I look over and see a slime hopping around. Again, I am in the desert at Y:72.. I've never seen one in the desert before, is this normal? I thought they only spawned in slime chunks underground up to Y:39 or so and in the swamps..
Yeah I'm going to do both, make the pods bigger and use the water to keep them in the center, just to be safe. I knew about the water method from the beginning but opted not to do it. Guess I should have lol.
Yeah I was thinking about doing that.. or doubling up on the blocks that surround it so maybe they can't glitch through a two block thick wall. What's also weird is I put 2 villagers in each pod so they can breed. One of the pods now has 8 villagers, one has 5 villagers, one has 2 villagers and one has 3 villagers. LOL I guess not all villagers breed with each other? I've traded with all of them, or at least most of them. I read you have to trade with them now to make them breed but I'm not sure.
Is there any way to kill cows automatically without using fire or lava? I can breed them and get them to where I want to kill them but I haven't seen a way to kill them without cooking them. I want the raw meat (for trading). I've tried using pistons to crush them but they just stand there and the piston doesn't even hurt them. Any way to do this? For some reason I am guessing there is not a way, otherwise people would use the method to kill mobs, right?
I built an iron golem farm last night, which works great (already spawned over 30 iron golems in about an hour) but the villagers keep glitching out of their pods somehow and falling to the ground and dying. I built, what I think is the most common way, a 20x20 square with a pod on the outside middle of each wall. It is about 25 blocks up in the air. I remember when I had a bunch of sheep in a house and it got too crowded they would glitch through the wall and fall to the ground but then just fly back up into the room. The villagers, however, are not returning to where they are supposed to. They hit the ground and die. Is this normal? I used solid blocks for their pods and covered them with glass. The glass is 3 blocks up so the villagers can't even get to it. Its 2 solid blocks for the wall then glass on top. What is going on? Why are they glitching out of the pods and dying? I surrounded the bottom of my iron golem farm with water and now I just went back to it and there are villagers just chilling down in the water....its the villagers that glitched out of the pod... So I figured out how to save them, lol, but I want to know if theres a way to prevent this from happening altogether.
I'm still on update 1.12 so that might be one of the reasons I have issues with the wither skeletons. I knew better than to update when 1.13 came out and so far all I've heard is bad things about 1.14, so that is why I haven't updated yet. I want my redstone to work and my pistons and droppers to face the right direction lol.
Are you guys on the current update, 1.14? I'm still on 1.12 and this problem just barely started about a week ago. Been playing for months with no issues before last week. But I didn't update or anything so I have no clue why. Maybe its an issue with the PS3 itself?
So I just logged on and the mine cart has disappeared again. I guess if they aren't moving they disappear. Now I'm going to put them in carts that just move in a circle and see tomorrow if they are still there.
EDIT: Also, I went to the nether, to a part nowhere near my blaze spawners but still in the fortress (where I would normally see tons of wither skeletons) and there are still absolutely zero wither skeletons, so I don't think its a mob cap or anything. I really think making these blaze farms affects the wither skeletons spawning some other way.
