May mods use damage values to change the block completely, like Industrial craft and, most impressively, red power. You'd be supporised what can be done with one block ID, if you look at red power - all of their wires, sub blocks and tubes, are all one block, the same block. All their machines, one ID, and some of those can even change color (given, it is to what dyes there are) and I don't know how it all works (*after writing this I figured it may be thanks to Forge*), but I've heard that even the stairs in vanilla Minecraft are the same block, but with different damage values, so yeah I'm sure they could have different colors of wool from the same block, and I'm sure the reason it's not like that is that they didn't think of it way back when it was made and so they're stuck with it (because changing it now would mess up custom texture packs and destroy different wool creations).

Is it really that hard to accept the idea of possibility?

It's true though, it's a little old (for lack of a better term [aged?]) which makes it weirder it took five posts for someone to say it's real.

Anyways, you can use the AudioMod (scroll down, and don't forget to install Mod Loader from the same page) I think, it makes it so you can use custom sounds and replace old ones...with even older ones in this case. You'll need to find the files though, and I'm not completely sure how it works so don't ask me how to do anything, I just use the thing if a mod needs it.

posted a message on A lot of dogs! Bug?
This happened to me as well, there are barely any other animals on my hardcore map (luckily I have a chicken clone farm from a single chicken I found, a bed from three sheep, and survived the first night from some bigs; and I haven't seen anything but wolves and chicken clones since). I haven't gone too far from my main spawn, but it's true, this CAN happen. People jump to "He's a troll" too easily around here, at least think it could be true (even if you don't think in this case it likely it [just for the record, I believe him because it's happening to me]). I have a bunch of trained wolves to (used real bones though, yet I don't have as many as him), they're mostly just for show. One died because I tried to use it as a battle dog :sad.gif: sorry trained wolf #4.

Just for the record, the primary reason that 64bit doesn't always show an improvement is because an application has to be built specifically to do so, or else it runs as a 32bit program like normal, the most likely reason the benchmarks for those games are the same (most games are 32bit). Minecraft using 64bit java however, would likely see an improvement.

Just clearing that up, not trying to say who's better just don't need misinformation.

The sun and moon work how they do in real life (now, they apparently use to rise in the North but now the East). The clouds...I don't know, just don't use them I guess. You can also map a map and know the top is north.

Ok please explain to me the logic of these factors that they are not fixing. That ALL OF A SUDDEN dont allow people with 32-bit to go on Very far which before this patch and this patch ran and runs at 100+ FPS but crashes? What is the reasonig behind that?

Most likely the new lighting system using multi-texturing, multi-threading a few processes, along with small changes under the hood I'll admit I don't fully understand is the most likely culprit. Ultimately, it's the game getting larger then it's simpler older versions. It's a shame I know, but it happens. This is what happens when you play a beta game, if you had never played it before the full release or anyone for that matter, no one would be saying anything.

It's true, you can hate what the game has become, but don't hate that it didn't change from a Release Candidate that was released a few days before the full release...Also don't blame only bug fixes being done after a code freeze. If you're going to criticize, learn how game development works and then learn how Mojang works (a small indie game developer, not a large AAA or even AA developer).

It's his personal preference people, sheesh. Let him use it, when it comes time for XP to be dropped by Microsoft (which they will, like every system before it) and game developers stop using DirectX9, he'll upgrade because he has to in order to play new games, but until then let him use what he wants. However, if he is going to use XP32, he needs to realize the downsides of not upgrading and know that Minecraft can have max distance with 32bit systems anymore thanks to several factors that they aren't fixing, because they aren't broken.

It was likely the new lighting system, and other advancements that, sadly, added to the weight of the game and the ram usage. The new lighting system allows chunk updateless lighting effects by applying OpenGL 1.2.1 multitexturing, which requiers more ram but is smoother then the old way because of less CPU. There have been many under the hood changes that make performance smoother...for most people. It often effects max FPS but results in less stutters and lag spikes. It's the sad truth, in order to go forward you must leave some things behind.

If you want you can try to use a custom launcher, try this in a bat file:

    set APPDATA=C:\Minecraft
    start /high javaw -Xmx2048M -Djava.library.path=bin/natives -cp bin/minecraft.jar;bin/jinput.jar;bin/lwjgl.jar;bin/lwjgl_util.jar net.minecraft.client.Minecraft

Make sure to have it located in the Minecraft directory.

You can also try Optifine and the tips lower on the page (like using Java 7)
    http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/249637-100-optifine-hd-a-fps-boost-hd-textures/

It'll tell you to use less memory for the launcher, but I've found that sometimes just doesn't work. I may use a X64 system, but I only use 3Gbs of ram (I'm poor) so it goes in line to what yours is like in that case (except your ram has a higher clock, but that's not the point) so 2Gbs allocated will do fine hopefully, at least function. Adjust it accordingly if it doesn't work, up or down just mess with it.

By the way an other tip, you can only use 3Gs of that Ram with a 32bit system, a complete waste. With a rig like yours you really should get a 64bit system just so you can use that wonderful ram of yours. I wouldn't recommend XP64 bit as it's actually Windows Server 2008 and is ultimately unstable anyways, from what I've heard. Windows 7 is where it's at, and with that rig you have no excuse really other then not affording it, which is understandable but it really doesn't do your system justice without it.

posted a message on Minecraft needs some life.
I agree with two and three, but the first one would might cause more lag. Although this close to release, it's defiantly not going to happen in 1.9 so like everyone else said this IS in the wrong forum, but I digress. The seasons thing might get on some peoples nerves though, I mean people wine over the grass not being green enough and I don't think Autumn is going to help that... The last one is one I agree with the most and truly should be done, in fact the sheep wool thing is a popular suggestion that I think Mojang has at least acknowledged, but perhaps the problem with it is it might bring back the old way spawning worked only it'll have animals stay instead of just despawning, so it might cause an overload of animals in an area over time and unless monsters start to attack them, it can get out of hand; although if they're too aggressive towards the peaceful mobs it'll be likely to have a whole area killed off every night, unless you keep it controlled. Say in every biome there is a set amount of mobs that can spawn, and if any dies it leads room for others to start breeding naturally. The maximum mob limit would need to be ignored by player bread animals, or else a whole forest of animals will get killed off at night.

So yeah, not too bad of suggestions but they all have problems.

posted a message on Enderdragon rediculously easy
I hope it will do contact damage, but it doesn't always have to. When I first spawned into The End on a test character I appeared in a tomb with a small slit in the corner leading to a sheer cliff, so I dug up. Before I even started it appeared through the wall and *****-slapped me out of the place and sent me FLYING up into the air and I fell into the abyss...my first impression with the dragon. The second attempt at killing it worked out much better, but if it did contact damage that might have been different.
