posted a message on Unique savanna villages

Villages can currently spawn in three biomes; plains, deserts and savannas. However, only the desert village is different from the original plains village by being built in sandstone. Therefore I propose that the savanna village should be more unique as well, for more variety.

The oak wood, planks, stairs, doors and fences should be replaced with their acacia counterparts, where would they get oak in a savanna? Other wooden items which looks like oak wood (wooden pressure plates and bookshelves for example) can remain because it's unnecessary to create completely new blocks with only small re-textures, also they can already be crafted with acacia planks even though it doesn't look like it. The gravel roads could be replaced with coarse dirt blocks, it adds more variety and it looks kind of good too in the savanna. The rest of the blocks should remain the same, as they can be found naturally in savannas already (cobblestone if you mine underground, black wool in the lamp posts which is obtainable from sheep, etc).

posted a message on [1.0.0] The better villages mod! [updating to 1.8.7]

[CURRENTLY UPDATING TO 1.8.7, NEEDS A NEW TEXTURE ARTIST AND A NEW BANNER]

    • 14th of July 2015: I have taken a break from Minecraft but now I'm back and my goal is to update this mod. I can't guarantee that an update will come though, as I've said this for years now...
    • 25th of June 2014: Took a small break from updating. I have started again and the topic's reconstruction continues.
    • 25th of March 2014: Topic is currently being reconstructed to look nicer. Old topic in the spoiler below.

Current version of the mod is 1.3 and is intended for Minecraft version 1.0.0. Risugami's Modloader for Minecraft version 1.0.0 is required (Forum thread).

This mod adds custom skinned Pigmen NPCs to the NPC Villages. The normal NPCs remain as usual, they aren't changed one bit. New items (like bacon) are also added.

    The Pigmen

    Miner Pigman
These are the miners of the pigman community. Their iron pickaxe makes them able to mine what they mostly need, like iron and stone, but not more valuable stuff like diamonds. When killed, the pigman miners drops not just their pickaxe, but also bacon and cobblestone.

[Note] The mining is a little bit bugged right now, so they mine too fast and too much.

    Farmer Pigman
The farmers supply food to the other pigmen by farming their crops. With their iron hoe, they are sure to make a good job. The pigman farmers drop bacon, seeds and their hoe on death.

[Note] The Pigman farmers don't actually farm right now, it will be added in a future update.

    Baby Pigman
As with any town, the villages also have babies. While the other pigmen are doing their duty, maybe the babies are being raised by the villagers to one day have a job like the grown ups. In their hand a milk bottle is placed, so they can eat when they feel like it. The babies drop bacon and their milk bottle when they die.

[Note] The babies don't age right now, so they will remain as babies forever.

    Hunter Pigman
These pigmen keep the village safe from monsters such as zombies and skeletons. They also hunt animals for food when needed. A hunter pigman's iron sword makes them overcome any threat. If they die in battle, the hunters drop their sword, and some bacon.

[Note]The pigman hunters don't hunt for other mobs, but this will be added soon.

    Mayor Pigman
The mayor is in control for the whole village. They are experts at persuading, as even the weird squidward-villagers got on their side. A mayor always walks around with a blaze rod in his hand to create a feeling like he's rich and in control. When a mayor dies, he will drop his valuable blaze rod and bacon.

[Note] The mayor pigmans are VERY unfinished, so right now all they do is walk around. I have greater plans for them in te future.

    Items

    Bacon
Bacon is when dropped by pigmen raw and can be cooked to get a cooked bacon. Raw bacon heals 1,5 hunger points and cooked 3.

    Bottles
Empty bottles can be crafted by using glass (see recipe below). Milk bottles are currently only available by killing baby pigmen, as cow milking currently is broken.

posted a message on What is the most annoying biome to spawn in?
If it would have been 1.6, I would have answered oceans beacause of their size and lack of resources. But they got smaller in 1.7 so I now think that jungles are the most annoying biome to spawn in, with the big trees, cramped vegetation, and the lag that it brings on bad computers.

    posted a message on red
I just tried and it worked. These are the steps of doing it:
    1. Find some red mushrooms
    2. Cook them in a furnace for rose red
    3. Take out the rose red from the furnace
    4. Get some wool
    5. Craft the rose red and wool to red wool
