Feb 28, 2012Great design, I've been aiming for a compact design using only the minimum of 15 villagers so it's easy to copy in my vanilla map. I've been seeing so many people complaining about how this makes the game easy and breaks it, but this is Minecraft - A game with no rules, and you don't have to farm them, it's a choice, and a great addition to people that love farms in the game and would like to add this to their collection.Posted in: Videos

So we all know if in the right conditions mobs won't despwan... Does the apply for hostile mobs also because if so I will be VERY tempted to trap a Enderman at what ever the cost! Even if it means mining INSANE amounts of obsidian to catch me one of them :biggrin.gif:
There are a lot of conditions based for aggressive mobs that let them despawn or stay, mostly depending on where your location is. If you could trap an Enderman, you might have to do it with where he has spawned, and we really don't know how they react when you get close and personal yet, everything we've seen has started far away, then the infamous "stare" happens. If you were to lure them to a prebuilt trap, I imagine they could just warp right back out of it?

what i meant was, will the new chunks generate on my old world if i explore it further?
As far as I know if you look back far enough, Jeb mentioned on Twitter that players can keep their worlds, everything will update with newly generated chunks. I'm sure they realize players would be upset if they had to give up the work they've put in just to play the updated version.
Sep 6, 2011Be the mobtrap addict I am, and find out how Enderman work & will fit into traps. I'm hoping they spawn basically the same as any other tall mob, given they'll be 3 high instead of two, and apparently they spawn as rarely as slimes from what I've heard. If they still spawn the same as tall mobs though then I'll try and make a few mobtrap designs that can adapt to them as well.Posted in: 1.8 Update Discussion
I also heard they drop diamonds?
Also, to null mobtrap flame from people here, I'm hoping that mobs will only drop items if directly killed by the player, and signs and ladders will lose properties such as holding water/lava, or tricking mobs into thinking they are solid blocks to walk on. If traps become more or less useless in that sense, I know I'll have to play the game in a different way and it will be fun and new :]
Sep 6, 2011Sinstrite posted a message on Jeb_ tweeted "Grim Release for Thursday" MOST LIKELY *DELAYED* more BEYOND MondayI can understand why they want to delay further, because they'll be stuck fixing bugs on the weekend since they release on Friday, but at the same time they keep every solid version that's stable before adding more code. If the version they took to Pax was solid enough to show off, that would be fine with me imo, and I'm sure others. Since Pax though I'm sure they've added more code that as mentioned, could have really bad bugs.Posted in: 1.8 Update Discussion
I wish they would release a solid version on Thursday though, even if it doesn't have the newest code since Pax. Whatever small bugs that would be in that they could still fix Thursday through Friday and have their weekend. The fanbase would be satisfied, mostly, and Mojang would also be less pressured to fix the newer bugs in a hurry.
I know I'm wrong in areas though, nobody is really right because none of us run the company so we don't know what they have in their best interests. Atleast we can blow off some steam talking civilized like this while we wait. I don't like seeing the topics where people just spout junk talking bad about Notch or Jeb and how they're lazy etc... Those guys have a lot of projects they work on at the same time.

Nobody knows. If they say MIGHT, then it means it's about 50-50% chance.
Everyone's been saying Sept 8th, but Jens just mentioned it might be later than that because they want to do more testing, and he said they'll never release on a Friday. So maybe next week sometime if we get lucky.
Sort of strange though, because it's in beta and we are the testers ... so why not just release as first mentioned and everyone was hyped for, and let us test it?

This is MAD.
My Minecraft usually runs at 60-70 FPS. This put it down to 1.
Your trap produced just over 5440 drops in five minutes, which multiplied by twelve gives you 65,280 drops per hour. The five minutes was not exact however.
Dude, unless you own some kind of supercomputer that runs at 1,000,0000 FPS, give up and build something simpler!
Yeah that's my problem is the numbers are off. It's the same designs as the 100k+ trap I made but with new designs I'd thrown in as well. I know it has to have a higher number, but like you I hit rock bottom FPS and then crashed xD
Aug 30, 2011Hello, I've recently built a trap using MCEdit on my girlfriends laptop but the problem is that when I try to run it even on minimum settings it lags out half way through the 1 minute test because it's a craptop laptop. I can't get an estimate to how many items an hour it gives and anyone that would be willing to use a good spec computer or laptop to test it would be really appreciated by myself. Last month I built one of the few 100k+ traps that were released and I'm hoping this will be much better.Posted in: Survival Mode
Thanks in advance for anyone willing to test this for me. I would myself but I won't be home for another 2 some weeks.

If playing on peaceful I really enjoy exploring caves and mining the occasional ore (although admiring the caverns is a lot more enjoyable for me!)
If playing on any difficulty that involves monsters, I'll normally just section out an area and dig the entire thing out for the endless cobble, stack of minerals and a nice area to use.
For example, here is the storage room I mined out today! (Big Image):
Oh wow, that room is insane - was it all mined legit? That's tons of chests to craft, signs to make and label, and smoothstone to make and replace the walls, etc with. Kudos.
Aug 12, 2011Sinstrite posted a message on Lava, Diamond, Iron, Lapis Lazuli, other ores, other stuff.I've noticed a surprising number of diamond can be found just below the lava layers above bedrock, usually under the lava itself. If you can get rid of lava pools, I've literally found veins (usually 4-6) of diamond in 60% of lava pools.Posted in: Survival Mode

you start randomly in a spot in the desert, where you'll most likely die, only way out is going into one of the dungeons in there and surviving the masses of skeletons and zombies in there, which is unlikely, barely anyone survives the desert, so you can have fun and see how long you can last or die right away and get the death ban over with. when you die i think you go to the main area once you get back in.
Oh wow that sounds so horrible lol, thanks for clearing that up for me :tongue.gif:

sweet, i cant wait to play. hopefully theirs no one trolling the spawn.
From what I read there's three different places you can spawn in the first area, so it's doubtful someone will be there waiting for a new person.

Ive Applied For a Whitelist Over 40 minutes ago. my friend apllied and got whitelisted in 10 minutes. What is going on?
It just depends when they're actually on here going through applications, sometimes you'll get lucky and other times we just have to wait. They just finished fixing the server and got it back up about 20 minutes ago so hopefully white-listing will happen sometime soon. Don't feel bad, I'm still waiting too :smile.gif:
