Real Name: I'd rather not say, out of privacy concerns. In game Name: Silty Your age: 21 Country/Timezone: USA EST Why do you want to play here? Sentences please.: I've mostly played on private servers with friends up till now. PvPing sounds like an exciting change. What do you expect of this server? Again, be verbose.: I haven't experienced enough Minecraft PvP to answer this as verbosely as one may like, but I'm just expecting some exciting PvP. Defensive building and offensive raids seem like they would be fun. What kind of player are you? A builder? Raider? Griefer? There are no wrong answers.: If it's fighting, I enjoy the kind where the opponent is a challenge more than simply griefing a helpless individual. If it's building, I like to combine practicality with an attempt at aesthetics. I'm comfortable with redstone and various other complex Minecraft mechanics. How did you hear about us?: ConflagratedCanine advertised it on forums I frequent. We value community here. Will you be active on our forums?: Yeah. What is our TeamSpeak server address, and will you chill with us on it? voice.hakaslak.com port 9987 Sorry, I don't have a mic. I'll be on IRC, though. Do we allow griefing?: Yes Do we use LWC here?: I don't think so. Did you vote for us on minestatus?: Yes How many votes do we have now?: 994 when I voted (edit: looks like 1002 now?) Will you help the server by voting every 24 hours? Set an alarm!: I'll try to. Do we use Factions here?: Yes. Do you accept that you will die a lot?: Yeah, sounds fun, as long as my opponents also die once in a while. :smile.gif: Do you whine or get revenge?: I try not to be loud and annoying, but I also won't let people simply pick on me for whatever reason. Do you understand this server is 100% funded by players (like you), and needs subcribers?: Yeah, I completely understand that it's necessary to give paying users an advantage, since Minecraft servers are expensive to run. It's nice to see you allow people to play for free, since some people only start paying after they've been playing for a while, assuming they have disposable income. Do you understand that we will not give you anything, we won't teleport you, we won't teleport your friends, and you will have to /kill if you get stuck somewhere?: Yeah, that's fine. Lately, I've mostly been playing games with permanent death (no loading saves once you die), so I see these kinds of things as a challenge to be overcome, rather than something negative. I wouldn't go as far as deleting my character every time I die, but if it's already part of the game, then it's cool. :smile.gif: Do you have friends here?: Yeah, I know a bunch of people from the Minerant crew, since I'm "Spleen" in the Doom community. I used to play with them back when they had their own server.
Does anyone know how the algorithm for generating Minecraft caves works? I was thinking of modifying the actual algorithm instead of just tweaking the parameters, so it would be really nice to know.
If you want to make your castle look nicer, I have a simple tip I learned after watching my friend build awesome castles. Don't use just smooth stone or cobble stone, mix and match them in different patterns. For example, if you're trying to make it look good for texture packs that don't mutate cobblestone into stone bricks, you could try using smooth stone for the walls and cobblestone in various other miscellaneous places (turrets, window border, bottom of the castle, etc).
Mixing cobblestone with smoothstone won't win you any awards by itself, but it can still make a big difference over using just one of the materials if you do it right.
Of course, this may require adding some kind of forge, blacksmith, or smelter to the already-growing list of buildings, otherwise where would you get the smooth stone. :smile.gif:
Excellent work, these are a lot of fun to play with!
Will they ever be able to move blocks like redstone wires without breaking them? Once pistons can move each other, this may allow one to build self-contained giant robots.
God dammit, now I have to change my shorts. If Pistons are able to stick to and move other pistons, then I just developed a 6-stage walking cycle with 3 pistons. The trick will be keeping everything else attached to control the timing.
Yeah, the last time I checked, redstone breaks when you try to move it. I am pretty sure you will need to move the redstone along with the pistons to make these things, hence why I am asking.

Thank you for making this texture pack, it has made Minecraft a lot more fun to play. My only gripe is that the bow icon is a little hard to see when I lean back in my chair. Do you have any plans of making it slightly thicker?
I can't be bothered to read the entire thread, but why not have clay veins underground, if sand/gravel already is? Make them more common around underground lakes if you want more realism.
Or maybe dirt should turn into clay when it comes in contact with water?
I gringe every time I see someone criticising an old classic game like it was released five years ago or something.
But nowerdays, Doom 1 and 2 are way below the average - still, people try to make other believe, Doom 1 and 2 would be STILL the godgiven FPS no other game could ever reach.
To be honest, I probably wouldn't be impressed back then, either. I mean, most SNES and PC games back then still have something, what makes them great nowerdays (and even one or two NES-games like SMB3) but Doom... not so much.
Eh, I guess I'm late but I wanna mention that Phenom 2's are very loud with a stock cooler. Unless that doesn't bother you, you might want to buy a cheap one for the sake of your sanity.
I also dislike encyclopedia dramatica humor, which just consists of AIDS jokes and other nonsense.
There are quite a few educated people on that site who write up the articles, but you have to sift through the collective brain leakage of every fourteen year old boy who edits the site to find any of that content.
I just thought everyone should know that the above link is NSFW.
Also, immaturity often manifests itself in pages of pointless arguments, rather than explicitly bad grammar. Just as painful to the brain to people who know what's going on, though.

Don't worry, you'll stop being one before you know it. Might as well make the best of it, you're only young once.

You know, gay was thrown around as an insult when I was in middle school, and that was a decade ago.
