Quite, quite. I was trying to be humorous with the textures, I'm well aware that their involvement and approach is completely different. I honestly cannot remember if I've dealt with Java. I do remember I've dealt with iPhone apps and whatnot, but that's OBJ-C... I find it curious too, perhaps it's a regional thing, who knows.
Anyway, are there any sites or wikis that deal with the core development of these sort of things? Also, can you give me an insight on the community itself, like what most people tend to do and how the community is made up? Any negative things you consider?

Apr 29, 2014Sup, my name's Chris and I'm pursuing a bachelor's degree in Computer Science. I'm a freshmen finishing the second semester and have currently gone through 4 courses out of the 17 required for graduation. I've been programming since the 9th grade, so if you do the math, that's 5 years. I started out with visual basic in high school and in my sophomore year, I got introduced to C++. Summer of 2013, I started out with python, afterwards, in the first semester with PHP and HTML, and finally got back into C++ on the second semester with Introduction to Programming Languages. To be quite honest, the name of the course is slightly misleading, due to the fact that, at this point, you're already more than introduced to the different types of programming languages. However, what the course focuses in is the Software Development Cycle, and techniques for structured programming. Also, the use of a language to write pseudocode structured algorithms and modules to design a program diagrams. In addition, discussion and use design techniques and programming oriented towards OO (Object-Oriented Programming).Posted in: Modification Development
To the point. I'm somewhat starting to fall in pace with the other students and I feel like I need an edge. I'm well aware, that the whole Minecraft world revolves around Java and I'm not even sure I've ever programmed in Java, but as any computer scientist will tell you, a programmer is primarily concerned with the WHAT and WHEN, where as a computer scientist is primarily concerned with the HOW and WHY. In other words, I can code in whatever it is I please. Finally, the question :
I read that you guys use API's to make mods, you make third party programs, you make APIs, textures, etc.
What do you suggest I go do given my background? Go make character skins with Paint, make bots, make mods, API's, contribute to large open source projects or what? I'm open to suggestion. I read around a few threads and I understand how the coding works, but not the big picture. So, wat do?
Apr 30, 2011Posted in: Minecraft ModsQuote from tangopopper »I like the mod a lot. I think the guards are inbalanced though. Perhaps to make it no longer viable to just keep spawning guards indefinitely, the guards could only be summoned at the cost of an iron bar or something. As well as this, you could have a marked chest where the player had to put food in order for the guards to survive, with the guards eating 1 bread/pork/fish a day, and getting health back for it. If the food ran out, then the guards would either turn on the player or wonder off.
HEY, BRO, I GOT AN IDEA! I'm just brainstorming here, feel free to critique this, but how about you "IMAGINE" you have to use iron bars and after you summon three you go like, uh oh, out of iron bars, lemme go get some. BUT WAIT, you're probably gonna flame me saying "wow u dumfak rehy not guna desapier", well then, if you're thinking this right now then I suggest you throw the mother freaking iron bars into an incinerator and never quote me again.

SMP *CLEAN* AND PROVENIf you sissies aren't man enough to use the mod, turn off the internet and THEN use the mod, you can't send a password over the internet if you have NO internet. Nevertheless, he could've made the mod to save the password on a .txt and send it over the internet later, but that would actually be detected as a virus on any antivirus. No virus, no logger, in that case.Posted in: Minecraft Mods
Anybody mind explaining this for me?
