Check your application data for any save file, it could be corrupt. Other than that, I highly suggest making back ups, the save states are at (If you're on a Windows, not a clue if you're on a mac) C:\Documents and Settings\YOUR USER NAME HERE\Application Data\.minecraft\saves Just give that ol' folder a good copy and paste every once in a while.
I've Googled and peered around the forums for the answer, but I really just can't find anything. Which sucks because I really want to play this game and I'm assuming it'll be less laggy on an EXE file than in my browser. Although, I know it still might not run too well considering I'm on a very old and crappy laptop. But I'll be hopefully getting a new one soon.
Error goes as follows:
Bad video card drivers!
-----------------------
Minecraft was unable to start because it failed to find an accelerated OpenGL mode.
This can usually be fixed by updating the video card drivers.
