posted a message on Playsound issues

Right now I'm using code thats over a year old, not sure if things have changed since but its different from the way I remember.

    Command:

    /playsound megaphone ambient @a ~ ~ ~ 5 1 1

Whenever it plays, it doesn't sound like it's ambient noise. It sounds like the playsound command is played where you are when it plays and the sound stays in that original location.

How can I make it sound like the sound is coming from the tower in the back, and your distance affects your ability to hear it?

posted a message on How do I get around modifying source files in this case?

I want to impliment keyBindSprint for special functionality, but I don't want to modify the source classes. Is there a way I can use keyBindSprint in this case, or maybe something that just says something like,

    if CTRL is press

posted a message on Redstone Director Block

Hello Redstoners, I am dedicating this to be my official Redstone Director thread.

To start off, the goal of this mod is to one day have this block in Minecraft. This is the main reason as to why I do not use Forge or any API. I am aware there will be people who won't use "Raw Mods" and it is no concern to me.

If you wish to see this mod supported for Forge or any other API, you may contact me on Twitter,@Sidonius_ or here on MCF.

    Description

The Redstone Director is a Orientation based block that when powered outputs a signal based on the position the player places it in. The Redstone Input that goes through the block only passes through to the front face of the block, giving it a unique feature of not powering Wire or devices next to it, or torches the block.

Current development is in progress for 1.10, but I hope to have a release for 1.11 in early December.

Unlike previous releases of this mod, basic imitations that have shown up, there will not be a version of the block that is automatically powered. This has been decided to help balance the block's usage.

If a compelling argument is made, I may re-implement the Inverted Version which starts in a Powered state and Un-powers when give a Redstone Signal.

Features and specifications of the block.

Power can be give through any side except the front face (IE: The dotted side)

Power is output on the front side, when input is given.

The tick rate for this block is 1. No, this can't be used as "Instant Wire", that would make it incredibly unbalanced, sorry.

Torches placed on the block will only be effected by Redstone input into the block if that torch is on the Front face of the block. Even placing a Lever on the block will not affect torches on the block unless on the front face.

Here are some pictures showing some possibilities of what the block can be used for.

    Basic Use

    1.10 Development

    Smallest Cobblestone Generator Possible

    1.10 Development

    Compact Displays & Compact Mechanisms

    1.6.4 Development

The Possibilities of New Designs (Pulse Clocks)

    1.6.4 Development

Infinite Expansion. Works for Vertical, Horizontal, and Diagonal Expansions.

    1.6.4 Development

Extreme Compacting Designs (3Lx4Hx3L Auto Smelter)

    1.6.4 Development

If you like this so far, please tell me what you think you'd be able to make with it! If you have any ideas for features of the block feel free to post them, you will get credited for your contributions.

Thank you for reading this post, I hope to have download links for 1.10,1.11, or future versions available soon.

Maybe I've been up too long, but I don't know what you mean by that. Can you elaborate, or give example so I can figure out?

Also I've been messing with calculateInputStrength as a Boolean, that might make it a lot simpler.

The getWeakPower block of code I used as a reference works, not wanting to change that. Not sure if thats clear or not.

One specific thing I am trying to use this feature for is, well in simple terms stopping my block from getting power from only the front of the block.

The only way I've found that lets me tell the block what sides to get power from is calculateInputStrength(World worldIn, BlockPos pos, IBlockState state).

I can add a EnumFacing variable to it without issues, however I'm trying to add multiple lines to tell the block,

What sides are okay to get power from, based on the orientation of the block.

In this example, when the block is facing EAST, it can receive power from UP:

My code including original code, http://pastebin.com/z7x4UdCU

What I get is one Input per Orientation, when I am looking for something that will give me control over allowing input from all sides so I can limit the one side per all 6 orientations of the block.

    ... If I seem incoherent I apologize, I haven't modded since 1.6.4, and haven't slept well recently.

    Quote from UpcraftLP»

"side" is jsut a variable of type EnumFacing that you can use. It's the side of the block that is checked for weak power, i.e. where the output will be.
Your enumFacing value is the rotation of your block, i.e. how the block itself is rotated in the world. If you only want to output redstone on a specific side you need to check the "side" value against the output side for that specific block rotation and return 0 or your value accordingly.

I'm confused about what this does. I was convinced that side did something specific because I was getting results I wanted from using enumside and side together.

I was thinking I could make something like
    EnumFacing side = (EnumFacing)#.#(#);

But I'm not getting any results from my test. Any ideas?

Sorry the OP is vague about what I am wanting. The block of code in the image is just a reference to show the side variable. I'm wanting to create a line that setup like the EnumFacing enumfacing, but to do the same thing the EnuimFacing side does so I can use it in other blocks of code that doesn't have the EnumFacing side variable. Such as putting it in protected int calculateInputStrength(World worldIn, BlockPos pos, IBlockState state)

I modified getWeakPower to tell my block what specific side to output power to. Thanks to EnumFacing side this works, but what is side? How does side work? It's not listed in the EnumFacing file, nor can I find it defined.

I want to take EnumFacing side, and make it like EnumFacing enumfacing as seen in the example below.
