posted a message on OptiFine HD (FPS Boost, Dynamic Lights, Shaders and much more)
I have a problem with my setup, and I think it is caused by Optifine.

I installed Forge using their installer, then dropped a couple of mods in the mods folder. Those both work.
Then, I put Optifine in the jar for the forge profile. Now, whenever I play the game, all mobs are missing certain parts of their textures, regardless of resource pack. As far as I can tell, it is totally random which textures are gone each time I load up the game. Sometimes there will be a cat with no torso, or all of the sheeps will be headless, or the creepers will be totally invisible, aside from their toe. I have thankfully never found one that was totally invisible, but it is probably bound to happen.

Also, I had this problem back in 1.5 while using the Bluevanilla Mod too, with Optifine. I didn't mention it then because I thought it wasn't a big deal.

For the record, I'm using Ubuntu Linux 13.04, if that matters. I can get pics up soon too.

    EDIT: Pics:
Also, I found a new bug right there that shows weird things flying through the sky. The pics are in the spoiler.

    Album here: http://s1283.photobu...ry/Bug Optifine

    Best ones in spoiler:

Spiders missing half of their bodies.

What are those things in the sky? Like horizontal, flying clouds.

    Toes missing.

    More sky things.

    Right.

But the 795th line of SSP/OldDays's EntityLiving.class is
    if (entityLivingToAttack != null)
    .
It doesn't contain any casts at all.
Since source file name is there (Instead of just SourceFile), it's not obfuscated too. So it's Optifine class. So Optifine was installed at the end.

    Ok.
Optifine... I hate, but it sure is great. The improvements it makes to the game are great, but it really should be in Vanilla.

Another crash that I can't fix without decompiling Optifine...
SSP and OldDays don't modify that class, Optifine does. I don't know which line is that, that may even be Optifine-specific code.

It gets even better using today's daily and the latest optifine...

I hope this hasn't been reported yet, I'm behind on my dailies as usual.
This happened with Optifine: I was exiting the video settings menu, after adjusting the Mipmap ratio, and suddenly all of the grass went weird. There were bright nuclear green edges to it, but nothing else on each block, and I could see straight through the blocks. I exited the menu, expecting it to fix itself, and got this crash from the game.

Hey, what if the "Crafting" section had the ability to disable certain recipes as well as change them? That way, an alpha world would never be able to use beds and such.

Skylight and No night (OF Option) Will be confilcting.
I think this because no mobs spawn at night with Optifine installed (The hostile mobs can spawn, but burn, only creepers and spiders don't burn, and spiders don't attack you.).

I get something similar. When I used Optifine, hostile mobs would continue spawning during the day and never burn. I'm still using a daily from around a week-and-a-half ago though... Probably should update.

I just had a new idea. There should be multiple modes for the "Old Loot" option. One, the oldest, has skeletons dropping arrows, but no bones. The other, a Beta 1.7.3 option, has bones and everything else in the old style. The last is vanilla.

When was the last time anyone else used the Sky Dimension? I turned it on to do a survival play on it, and found some weird things...
The sun never moved in the sky. Not sure if intentional, but eventually it just went dark, like a nightfall. Then, it stopped, like I'm eternally in the sunset phase.

Also, there should seriously be a let's play in the Sky. Has anyone ever done that?

This is very likely to be the last dev version as we know them now. They are already replaced by dailies, I release this just so it's more convenient for me to gather the full changelog of 3.1/4.1 when they will be released. :)

    https://github.com/E...p-3.1a4/ssp.zip

    Src:
    https://github.com/E...s-4.1a5-src.zip

    Changes in SSP 3.1a4:
Fixed texture pack button being visible when OldDays is not installed.

    Changes in OldDays 4.1a5:
Implemented options that can have more than 1 value, made flags such an option, so it now shows buttons for each flag instead of entry field. It's more convenient.
Fixed default Nether Fortress value in Indev and Classic worlds.
Possibly fixed chunk corruption bug. Not sure, but I was not able to reproduce it anymore.
    Fixed 1.7.3 lighting in SMP.

    Previous SSP changes:
    3.1a3:
    Some changes for new OldDays.

    3.1a2:
Rain will fill cauldrons in SSP.
    Some changes for new OldDays.

    3.1a1:
    Some changes for new OldDays.

    Previous OldDays changes:
    4.1a4:
Added options to enable/disable ravines, villages, strongholds, mineshafts, nether fortresses and temples/huts.
It's not possible to create hell or paradise worlds with rain anymore. (It is still possible to enable weather there using Flags option)
    Fixed TNT dupe.
    Refactoring.
    Hotfix1: Partially fixed world re-creation.
Hotfix2: Fixed unability to generate world with structures.
Hotfix3: [+] button is now hidden when NBXlite GUI is hidden.

    4.1a3:
Added fixbeaches flag. As its name suggests, it fixes beach border glitch in Alpha 1.1.2_01–Beta 1.7.3 worlds.
Added weather flag. It allows to enable/disable weather. Default values are same as before, old worlds should automatically receive/not receive weather too. (Though the red text is still actual) Only thunderstorms will work in snowy Alpha worlds (The world creation dialog doesn't allow that anyway :) ). Snow behavior will not be changed in this case.
    As usually, refactoring.
Fixed many small bugs in the OldDays GUI.
    Fixed some OutOfMemory errors.
    Fixed logs in 1.3 generation.
Fixed cloud height in floating Indev worlds.
    Hotfix: Fixed world creation.

    4.1a2:
Flag system. That's mostly internal stuff, but GenerateNewOres and 1.7.3/Jungle type ingame options were replaced by Flags option. I would not describe it here, there is [?] button for that.
    Infdev (06.18) generator.
Textured clouds now have an Auto mode — enabled on 06.18 Infdev, disabled elsewhere.
Ice desert button for Beta 1.7.3 worlds. Using Flags options, it's possible to enable it (As well as jungles) for other Beta/Alpha 1.2.0 generators. (Jungle will look weird though, since Alpha 1.2.0 and Beta 1.0 don't support special trees)
    Fixed texture erasing bug.
    Fixed boosters.
    Partially fixed Allowed Mobs.

    4.1a1:
    Many changes to OldDays GUI:
    1. Replaced pages (Not to be confused with NBXlite GUI pages, which are purely internal thing) with scrolling.
    2. When searching, separators are placed between options from different modules. For example, searching for "explosion" will not be so confusing anymore. :)
    3. Newly added options and their modules are highlighted. New options are options that were not present in config files at the moment of launching game. If some module config file is not present, every option in it is highlighted.
However, if .minecraft/olddays directory was not present (The first launch of the mod), nothing will be highlighted.
    4. Modules are now properly sorted. So, when searching, Actions will be first, Bugs will be the second etc. While in 4.0 they are pretty much random.

I've got another bug. Pretty weird one this time...
I found a spider spawner in my alpha survival world. Nothing unusual. I torched it up, took the loot I wanted, and went on my way. Then, when I destroyed it (because spider spawners are fairly useless), the flames stayed there. Spiders could still span if I took away the lighting. Here are some pics from after I broke the spawner.

I can walk through it and everything. The ability to spawn is still there, but the block isn't.

EDIT: Upon re-entering the world, it is fixed.

I came up with another idea for a mod. It isn't a feature that was ever in the game, but really should be. Therefore, if you do decide to try it, it shouldn't be in Olddays. What I want is a mod that mirrors the minecraft character so that the arm is on the left side instead of the right, giving the implication that the character is left-handed. TF2 does it, so it is probably possible, but mirroring the animations and everything is probably not an easy task.
    Would that be possible?

Another out of memory error? Weird.
It happens in classes I didn't modify. And I can't even track it, since stacktrace shows show MCP names, so they were modified by some other mod — Optifine. So lines don't match. If I will decompile Optifine, lines will not match too. :/

So it's unfixable, at least by you? Damn.
Well, I can still play the game with these occasional crashes. I just need to find the best settings for me and never change them.
