I am completely unfamiliar with most of dc heroes/villains, after a basic research i've noticed several versions of this owl dude guy. Should i go for the one you sent, or the one i find better?

Well '-' "random" is pretty wide ranged, it could be a full black solid colour skin, as it could also be a guy with one eye and wearing a dress... So yeah >_>
What you mean you're a girl but a tom boy hippie? Ok ok... The skin don't have to be permanent, you can do like i do and edit it's clothes only, keeping the aspect of the theme you want. So let's say you made a pirate, when you get tired of your pirate's clothes, you can create another one keeping the same body colour, same hair, same face and all, and more important, keeping the pirate theme!
But honestly a theme depends entirely on you. :3
I use MCSkin3D myself, but I'm not NEARLY as good at shading as you are. I just started using MCSkin3D yesterday, so I'm still learning more about it by making skins. You're great at that!
Well it's pretty easy if i may say so, sure there are many features, but just a few KEY features that any skin will ever need.
And i saw you even have a shop so i bet that within a week you'll be telling my shades aren't nearly as good as yours >.< I hope you don't close it due to large numbers of requests though D: Keep making your awesome skins :3

Man that looks so much nicer than the one I made for him over here. I tend to get too much into the old-school mindset of using as few colors as possible, so mine only has like 3 shades of blue.

On topic now, i'm not sure if i'm good with futuristic skin, as i tend to focus on mythological or old west stuff. But i may give it a try, >_> when i'm rested, of course.
I use the darken/lighten tool on MCskin3d, starting with the darker areas, wich are the closest ones to the internal parts (not sure if i'm being clear D:)such as the edges of the body, and the side of the arm that "touches" the body. The legs are the same, just darken the center of them.
I've made a little example for a friend a while back, i think it may prove useful.
(It's portuguese, but i guess you can tell what is front/back) It's a little outdated from how i shade now, but is pretty close to it.
I haven't showed the head cause is the one thing i do different.

I sure hope this "doesn't fit" trend doesn't last long.
don't make it about mods, there's enought of mods show offs out there.
