So when I look up info on the /locate command it tells me that /locate will locate the nearest of structure that it is set to locate. Except that I was just exploring a new seed and that is untrue I /located a village and it gave me coords something like x-625 z-1440. so i started walking in that direction (because hey I'm in creative, nothing can harm me, I can change to peaceful if it bothers me, and I like to look at the scenery >^ . ^< in doing so I found a village along the way at x-260 z-383 or something like that.
So since /locate at least in this instance did not locate the nearest village.... how does it really work?
I know it does give nearest a lot of times but not always... So is there a glitch or something that is does not always give the nearest structure?
You don't have to have a cable. But there are wireless routers that by default prevent wireless clients from talking to each other.
If you can't figure out how to configure your router, switching to wires bypasses that security feature.
Getting LAN to work means you need the security settings on both computers right and the router too.
I see good thing one of my computer geek friends is coming over tomorrow. ^ . ^ he will figure it out I'm sure. Thanks for the Help everyone.
Are you both hooked up to your router using an ethernet cable? That is the only way my girlfriend and I can play LAN is if we both have a cable hooked up to the router. Not sure why exactly. >>;
Doesn't that defeat the purpose of LAN? I don't even know If I HAVE an ethernet cable... But I will look into it... Wish those tutorials would mention stuff like this....
Ok so every time we try we get connection times out and that is with direct connect and witht he search for worlds in multiplayer nothing pops up even when I have my game open to LAN

1) create a game in 1.7.10
1) open to LAN to make sure it works
3) restart in 1.8
4) put down something from 1.8 (not sure if that is actually needed but...)
5) then save and quit
6) log on to the game again
7) Then open to LAN you should be able to play 1.8 on LAN....
At least that worked for me.

So my Friends bring their laptops or I go to them and we try to open to LAN and for some reason it does not work it won't show up for them or me.
Is there something I'm missing?
When I do it on my computer I get "Local game hosted on port" and it gives me a # like 12345.
When I watch the tutorials and look at the FAQs it says something different and gives a much longer #.
Am I doing something wrong is it my NetGear?
Is it something else?
And Why oh why do Silverfish remind me of PUPPIES of all things.... (in creative I'v never met one in survival)
