posted a message on Hoppers, sorting, and filters: Can you filter multiple items in one hopper?
I've figured out a way to do something similar to this. Basically, you have a bunch of chests filled in a way that only certain items can be put into them (one of any item in each slot).

The system basically tries to put each item into the first chest in the line. If it doesn't go in, it is pulled out and moved to the next chest. The process continues until the item finds a chest or it goes into an overflow chest.

I can post a world download if anyone's interested. Just make sure to send me a PM so I get reminded about it.

posted a message on Sorting chests with multiple items
Has anyone figured out a way to sort chests without using filters? What I mean is, if I fill chests completely with items, is there some sort of system I can set up that will put more items of the same type in that chest?

I would love to make a sorting system in my world, but I don't want to have to set up a filter/chest for each individual item and pump them into one chest.

One more thing: When using TukMC, Rei's Minimap doesn't properly enable the entity radar or cave mapping on an SMP server. It has something to do with the chat, since the way that's enabled is by inserting a special string of characters into the login message.

Can you think of any possible conflicts being created?

    Hey, I have a suggestion!

Could you make an option for each waypoint to only show it if you are within X blocks of it? When you have a lot of waypoints they get kind of cluttered, and sometimes you only need the ones nearby.

Maybe there could be a key to toggle between showing all or only the close ones, in case you wanted to see them all.

It could be an option per-waypoint just like the color. Something like "View distance" that can be set to any value. A value of 0 would mean it always shows.

Also, I'd really like the death points to remove themselves after coming within, say, five blocks of them. Otherwise I have to manually clear them, which gets tedious.

Any thoughts? I'd really like to see this added.

    Hey, suggestion!

I don't like that the entire box is shiny when you have an enchanted item. Could you add an option to disable that?

Also I'd like the ability to have the custom HUD, but default damage bars (just a plain bar). Maybe an option for that, too?

I can't get the Mumble overlay to work in the Magic Launcher. It works on the default launcher, but not with yours. Any help? I'm on a Mac, and I know that's probably the problem.

Is there a way for you to make the game run under the launcher app instead of opening a new java app? What I mean is when I run the launcher and press log in, the launcher quits and a new application opens. Is there a way to make it all run under one app?

If you want Optifine, you can't use the CP version of bfr.class, and you will lose a few minor features. At that point, the compatibility matrix is between Optifine and Forge and has nothing to do with CP. I will make the instructions clearer on that.

Yes, but your instructions say you MUST use the CP version of bfr.class with Forge. Then they say you can't use the CP version of bfr.class with Optifine. So which one is it?

I'm having a lot of problems and I can't figure out which bfr.class to install. I'm using Forge, OptiFine, and ControlPack.

The directions provided about bfr.class impose a paradox. If you use Forge, you need to use the CP version of bfr.class, but if you use OptiFine, you're supposed to leave the CP bfr.class out.

What am I supposed to do? Which classes should I leave out and which should I add? Which bfr.class needs to have priority and be installed? I've never had this much trouble with a mod.

I'm really glad someone continued this pack! I made the fire texture for it, as well as the portal texture, which I don't think the original author wanted to include.

Anyway, I'll be stitching parts of each together to make it work for me, and I might make some textures of my own. I'll send in any extras I make and let you decide what to do.

Hey, I've got a good feature request.

So, you know how in creative you can use the pick block key to get any block in your hotbar instantly? In survival, it kind of sucks. It only works if the item is already in your hotbar.

Could you make the pick block key actually move items from your inventory into your hotbar when you use it?

For example, normally I can middle click a log, and nothing will happen. If I have the log in my hotbar, it selects that slot. What I'm asking is when I use the pick block key on a log, first it checks if it can do it normally, and if it can't, it finds an empty slot in your hotbar to move the logs into, or it swaps the logs with the item you're currently holding, or a pre-specified 'swap-spot'.

This would make building with multiple block types so much easier. I usually only have one slot in my hotbar designated for blocks, and being able to switch what block is in that slot by using the pick block key would be awesome.

I've found the problem. It's a setting built into the mac for whatever reason that prevents it from running headless.

I looked up a few other things, and I was able to fix it for about $18. Basically I need to fake it out and make it think there's a monitor attached by using a DVI to VGA adaptor and some 100Ω resistors.

Is there any chance you would be able to update it to use modloader too? If so that would be very nice. I have never been a fan of forge, and as of now 3/15/13 forge isnt compatible with optifine, and that is quite a big conflict on my part. Please let me know if it would be posisble for you to make it compatible with modloader.

I second this. Forge is incompatible with many things and actually slows down the game significantly. It would be helpful if you included a modloader version or something, although I don't know much about modding, so I don't know how easy/hard it would be to do this.

Bottom line, modloader is my friend. It works with mostly everything. Forge doesn't. If every mod was written with forge, I would totally use it, because everything would work together, but for now I kind of want to stick to modloader.

posted a message on Nothing on MineOS works unless my machine is plugged into a monitor.
I can't get anything to work unless there is a monitor plugged in when the machine turns on. Everything works fine if I have a monitor plugged in when it starts, but if there isn't one, nothing starts up. No SSH server, no webserver, nothing.

I'm just confused. Is there something I need to change in the BIOS somehow? It seems like the system won't start properly unless there's a monitor present on boot.

I've confirmed that this is the case. I've tried all of the following scenarios:
    • Started up with monitor and keyboard. Works fine.
    • Started up with monitor and no keyboard. Works fine.
    • Started up with a keyboard, but no monitor. Doesn't work. If I plug the monitor in afterwards, it doesn't detect a signal.
    • Started up with nothing plugged in except LAN and the power. Same as above.
I've determined that the keyboard doesn't matter, and plugging in the monitor after startup doesn't help. It's definitely something going on at startup when it doesn't detect a monitor.

If you need the info, I'm using a 2004-2006 (can't remember which) Mac Mini. Everything works fine with a monitor.

    Someone please help!

Also, once I get that working, it would be helpful to have something automatically make a map of my server every hour or so. Is that possible?

I fixed it! Here's a link to the page that helped me: http://gallery.nancyblenkhorn.com/main.php/v/Headless Mac Mini/
