This I definitely don't agree with. Adding a new tier of tools/weapons basically screws the balance of any other weapon or tool overhaul that one might want to install. Forge allows us to take tons of modular mods and customize our experience, why actively try to get in the way of that? Do one thing and do it well, I say.
You guys should really make anything that's not scenery a modular, optional-addon. If it ever evolves to the point that it adds so much to the game that it looks preferable to other, more specialized mods, I'll gladly use your addon. In the meanwhile I'd appreciate if you didn't complicate my work when trying to make a cohesive private modpack.

There are no plans for a 1.12 version. The main coder for M5 just had a baby so we're trying to take it slow and purposeful and make sure it gets done.
The plans are for them to come back for sure. We're starting with Base Metals and Precious Metals because of the sheer volume of general features we're looking at with new machines and processing. Then we'll be adding back in Nether/Fantasy to add more special stuff to them. Down the line we might even look at some new metal sets.

Metallurgy 5 is back in production, I've been streaming development live every night at
RebelKeithy, the original coder of Metallurgy 2/3 is back and working on it.
We're looking at 1.13+ for the release, based on a lot of factors.
