posted a message on LONG Eclipse error when starting minecraft (see submission)

When I click 'Run', then Run Configurations, It is set to run <mymodname>_Client, and it is in project MDKExample and the main class is GradleStart. I click run, and the console comes up with this long error message, here it is:

WARNING: An illegal reflective access operation has occurred

WARNING: An illegal reflective access operation has occurred

WARNING: Illegal reflective access by GradleStart (file:/C:/Users/Lucas/.gradle/caches/minecraft/net/minecraftforge/forge/1.12.2- to field java.lang.ClassLoader.sys_paths

WARNING: Please consider reporting this to the maintainers of GradleStart

WARNING: Use --illegal-access=warn to enable warnings of further illegal reflective access operationsWARNING: All illegal access operations will be denied in a future release

    [18:12:51] [main/INFO] [GradleStart]: Extra: []

Exception in thread "main" java.lang.ClassCastException: class jdk.internal.loader.ClassLoaders$AppClassLoader cannot be cast to class java.net.URLClassLoader (jdk.internal.loader.ClassLoaders$AppClassLoader and java.net.URLClassLoader are in module java.base of loader 'bootstrap')

    at net.minecraftforge.gradle.GradleForgeHacks.searchCoremods(GradleForgeHacks.java:85)

    at net.minecraftforge.gradle.GradleStartCommon.launch(GradleStartCommon.java:86)

    at GradleStart.main(GradleStart.java:25)

I looked in to the bigger error and the problem is a ClassCastException and is at GradleStart class at line 25 which is '(new GradleStart()).launch(args);' in the main method. It also goes on at GradleStartCommon class at line 86, which is 'net.minecraftforge.gradle.GradleForgeHacks.searchCoremods(this);' which is in a protected method called 'launch' which params of args ( a String[]). Also the error occurs at GradleForgeHacks at line 85 which is 'URLClassLoader urlClassLoader = (URLClassLoader) GradleStartCommon.class.getClassLoader();', so it looks like this line is the main problem. On the bit of the error where is starts with Exception in thread 'main' it does mention that jdk.internal.loader.ClassLoader$AppClassLoader cannot be cast to class java.net.URLClassLoader though, I have a rough idea of what is going on but not a idea to fix the error? Any ideas? I'm thinking by JDK maybe, as it cant be cast to something in the java JDK, which might be fixed in the newer version. I am using java 8 bc I could not start gradlew setupDecompWorkspace and gradlew eclipse with any other java version eg. 1.11 (i think).

FYI: I am using Windows 10 April 2018, on bootcamp MACOSX (windows on mac its like any windows device)

    Please ANYONE???!!!

posted a message on How To Fix 'BUILD FAILED' in gradle Forge

EDIT: I fixed it IF you are having this problem here is how to fix: (windows 10)

    1. Go and download java JDK for 1.8: https://download.oracle.com/otn-pub/java/jdk/8u201-b09/42970487e3af4f5aa5bca3f542482c60/jdk-8u201-windows-x64.exe?AuthParam=1548782033_ddb856e9c2ca25ff0c8c6b9e5af0b2ca

    2. Once you have installed it, In the search bar search 'System' and go to it.

    3. Click 'Advanced System Settings'

    4. Click Enviroment Variables

    5. If you have a variable in that list called JAVA_HOME click edit, If you don't click 'Add' and set the name to JAVA_HOME and the file folder address you need to set to your program files folder NOT x86, then Java then jdk1.8.0_201 . Would look like this (I am using bootcamp for windows so thats why I cannot give the full address): ...\Program Files\Java\jdk1.8.0_201

    6. Click dont, then done again then exit System Prefences.

    7. Open command prompt and do cd <mod folder> then gradlew setupDecompWorkspace then finally gradlew eclipse.

    8. Open eclipse and select File, then Switch Workspace -> Other.

    9. Set the workspace directory to yout mod folder \eclipse

    10. MDKExample SHOULD be there. Click the down arrow and lots of stuff should appear, if so, HAPPY CODING!

If not, Try redoing steps 5-9 and making sure you have the correct directories set.

posted a message on How To Fix 'BUILD FAILED' in gradle Forge

(Sorry If I sound quite demanding, I don't mean it!) OK. I have had enough of this, I have been trying for THREE HOURS to get a eclipse workspace working with the MDKExample project. I have had SOO MANY ERRORS. I have had literally 15 different errors saying BUILD FAILED. Finally I got it to work, MDKExample was there, I click the down arrow NOTHING HAPENS!! I have experience coding java , I code for a lot of servers on bukkit. I want to code mods now. I CANNOT be bothered to have to fiddle with this. So please I will be SOOOOOOOO grateful if somebody would give me a full copy of the MDKExample folder, found in: eclipse/.metadata/.plugins/org.eclipse.core.resources/.projects/MDKExample. Please!!! I havbe only two files in it right now called .location and 2.tree. All I need is the rest of the files and the .project included! Please somehow give me a link to mediafire or a download to a zipper folder of this folder that I can use.

Everything else I have got like the .gradle folder, build etc... All I ask is you to link me to a copy of a MDKExample that You have successfully working. Please don't say you might be missing other stuff, no don't worry about that I have ALL the other folders, I have checked! I would be EXTREMELY grateful, I can't explain it!

ALSO I do have the src folder in my mod folder btw. Also sorry for spelling, I am typing fast I gtg!

Please could I have a response quick, like in the next day or two! I might not answer because I am only online from 4-8pm ENGLISH time! Thank you soo much!
