As much as i really would like to put the support pic in my sig, i still have my old sig saved from before the forum change. If i try to edit it i get downgraded like 2 pictures, 2 links and who knows how many characters of writing.

As horribly un-inventive and boring and simplistic and in-genuine and shitty and cartoonish as they are, they're never. never. ever. ever. ever. gonna go away. It's just fact. Forums aren't really driven by their members. As much as you say "Simple and remix packs should go in a seperate section!" and agree with each other that that is such a wonderful idea, it won't change anything. An unfortunate fact. (And yes, i am aware that no one has mentioned that idea in this particular thread, but it has been suggested before.)

P.S. @SteelFeathers: i noticed you mentioned how the 3 hour texture pack challenge created what you see as one of the best packs you've ever created... Well i actually voted for it, then realized it was made by you, and was like "OMG THAT DUDE THAT HASN'T MADE A TEXTURE PACK I HAVEN'T LOVED NO WONDER!" xD

Alright. Let's see how much texturing i can make you do! xD (get ready for a wall of pictures.)

Make a clay texture based off of that picture.

Make a glowstone and wood (i know, the wood isn't very detailed.) texture based off of that picture.

Make a sandstone texture based off of the brick in that picture.

Make a cobble and mossstone texture based off of that picture.

Make a torch based off of that pic.

Make a wooden door based off of that pic.

Make a gravel texture based off of that pic.

Make brick based off of that pic.

Make leaves based off of that tree. (A little bit more difficult, i know.)

Make a gold block based off of that pic.

Make the top part of halfsteps based off of that pic. (The road, obviously. Not including those white stripes.)

Make an iron block texture based off of the grate in that pic.

Make a lapis block based off of that tile.

Make an iron door based off of that pic.

Make obsidian based off of that pic.

All those pictures were taken in various places throughout Italy, btw.
P.S. you asked for it! Hehe...

Hehehe The vampiric staff gives them lifelink! (MTG FTW) Great mod. I was expecting something a lot stupider when i saw the two words "first mod". But you surprised me.

I agree with darkmaker54. The trees look a lot more realistic.
And i think the point of this mod is to showcase Backgrounder's potential as a modder. How hard do you think it is to create such a strange way of rendering blocks?

The textures look really great! Great job! But just so you know, there's a better way to install them. Inside the Johnsmith texture pack zip folder, make a folder called "aether". (without the quotes.) Inside that folder, make a folder called blocks. Inside THAT folder, put all of your textures. That way, you don't have to interchange between the default ones and the johnsmith ones so complicatedly.

I do indeed have a DA account. My name is Steelfeathers there as well.

I'm planning to do aether support, but I don't know about wildgrass. Does the mod even work for 1.7.3 now that notch has made his own long grass?

    Awesome! :happy.gif:

And yes, it in fact does. I'm currently using it and the squares it takes up on the terrain.png are all those annoying greyish square textures! >_< (Or invisible, or pink, depending on the texture pack.) And @ Dorian, it would be just as easy to support the modloader version as it would the default version. You just take each of the individual 16x16 textures and put them on the terrain. I prefer the modloader terrain version because i don't have to separately edit each wildgrass texture and because more packs support that version over the default modloader version.

I finally realized something. You're the first artist that i can actually follow. That i love each texture pack of. I always can't wait to see what pack you make next. Seriously. You're probably my favorite texture pack artist, now.

Do you make regular digital art, as well? Do you have a DA or FA account?

P.S. WildGrass and Aether support would be awesome.

Okay, i probably created this in more like 3-4 minutes, 'cause i'm not a great pixel artist (also why it looks very default-ish.) but i decided to post it anyway. =P

Edit: But honestly, these little challenges are really inspiring me and teaching me useful things about pixel art! I say keep 'em coming!

I finally read through the ENTIRE thread! Here are my responses to some stuff. Btw Taehl, the pack looks amazing as ever. I wish i was as talented a pixel artist as you are. I really love the creeper idea. Sorry for such a long post.

I wish you could craft wool stairs and half-blocks. Then we'd be able to do better furniture. Oh well. And, for that matter, I wish stairs would give you back a stair block when destroyed, instead of a regular block.

    http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/256156-173-july-11-betterblocks-37/

There you go. That mod lets you have stairs of nearly every blocks type and when you destroy stairs they drop stairs. It adds a lot of other things, any of which can be disabled through a verrrrrrrry long config file.

P.S. No wonder i loved painterly so much. Lolz.

Some nice ideas there. I think what would go best with the overall theme of TTP would be a pretend backpack (or at least a gunny sack) the players keep their stuff in (an actual backpack item was suggested to Notch at one point, which I highly support (it could go on the chest slot, preventing armor from being worn while using it!), but Notch didn't go with it). So some sort of cloth for the inventory screen, maybe brown like hessian. Rough-hewn wood for the workbench. Wood with bits of metal and amber for chests (keeping in theme with the block itself). Smoothstone for the furnace. Cobblestone for dispensers.

    http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/78064-173-shockahs-mods/

There you go, again. Yes, having a backback as an item was mentioned but never added to the game itself. Shockah created a great mod for it.

a mod actually does that. along with lots of other stuff that shouldve been in the game.

Dammit, you beat me to it!

Can't do custom water until Notch lets me. Lower-res artwork looked terrible.

I think the HD Patcher actually allows you to do higher res than 16x animated water.

And there actually is a safe way to use mods now. You just install Modloader which creates a 'mods' directory in your .minecraft file, and you can place .zips or .jars into it to use certain mods. However, this won't work with mods that edits default .class files, such as a.class, aa.class, ab.class, etc.

Don't ask me why Notch, in all his wisdom, made north left instead of the traditional up, but...

(The player-arrow is aiming south-east, or up-right. It's quite easy to tell in-game.)

Also, now that I can FINALLY modify the biome colors, I can make TTP look the way I've always wanted it to!

Honestly, i reaaallly love this pack. I've been looking a while for a good 16x pack that has high levels of saturation and looks very vibrant and detailed. However, i would really like wildgrass support. It doesn't have to be the vines or the biome flowers or lilypads, but at least the grass would be nice. In a little while i'll give my full critique on what elements of the pack i do and don't like. So far everything looks pretty good however.

Zekey, personally, one of my favorite things about this pack is how ****ing colorful everything is, namely the biome grass and leaf colors. Have you ever thought of extending the coloration of those two biome colors to blue-ish colors in ice/snow biomes? That would definitely increase the vibrancy.

posted a message on The Three Mob Team
Well, here's the general idea. So, we have three characters. A skeleton, Spider, and Creeper. (All of which have already been made into "Youarethe____" mods, by the way.) What if you played as one of those characters and the other two followed you? So, say you're the creeper. Then your skeleton and spider friends follow you around.

However, here's where it gets kind of strange and complicated. So, whenever you pressed, say, the R key, you would swap into the role of one of your friends. As a result, you could basically cycle between any of those three characters simply by pressing R. You basically get control over any three of those chars, and while they weren't being used they would just follow you and kill stuff you attack, like wolves.

Maybe we could get the creators of each of the seperate "Youarethe___" mods to do some kind of collab? Maybe there's someone "in the audience" who would like to take a stab at making such a mod? I think this would make for a very cool mod.

Go ahead and reflect on the idea i've just presented. It might just get this idea popular, lol.
