I will certainly have to check that out! (Currently on lunch break)
I've noticed the netherrack, sand and sometimes stone will bother me, but mostly netherrack and sand. I haven't yet checked with soulsand, but probably should be something to peek at.
Schlutt's right, Apachey. Even when I'm critiquing it isn't because I hate your work, or that I'm upset you're still working. None of the sort! We all know you do excellent work! I admit, I have a bad habit of lurking myself, only because I feel if I'm NOT supplying some sort of new piece to the pack that I clearly must be slacking. ._.() So I admit, I usually just hide.
Edit:
Also, I did some textures for the carrot growth stages, so they're distinguishable from the potato growth stages. They match the green of the final carrot stage, so are a bit more saturated because of it.
It isn't just your textures, even mine are starting to stray a bit (like the chorus plant and purpur blocks that I posted earlier; part of why I"m not happy with them). The ender eye (and earlier the ender pearl) that you posted looks great, it's got that shine to it to make it look smooth and wet. However, it looks a bit too smooth, and while more realistic, it's less "grain". Ovo's pack isn't a realistic pack, as much as we feel we're a part of the Minecraft world when playing in Ovo's textures.
Other ones that made the thought of "smudgy" pop into my head over time have been:
Sunflower
Daisy
Tulips
raw / cooked chicken
Most dyes
rabbit foot
Snowball
slimeball
spawn egg
Other textures that seem more plastic than grain:
Quartz blocks (all)
Carved red sandstone (mostly just the carving itself)
Gold nugget
Also, the potatoes (raw, cooked and poisonous) and carrots (raw and golden) have edging that's hazy, causing the objects edge to be partially transparent when held. I fixed them on my own computer but I notice it hasn't been done here yet. I can post them, if you like.
We're all trying hard, and mostly with whatever in the pack piques our creativity. So I know that sometimes what we want to do doesn't always translate well into pixels, let alone the pack itself.
We're becoming more... "smudgy" than "grainy"? I guess that's roughly what I'm referring to. Both look great, but are not the same. It might jsut be me about this, and perhaps I'm over-worrying. But it was a though that's been in my mind here and there.
As I'd stated they're not the best but they'll do the job for me at least. The grassy path ones are obviously recolored ones of the regular grass (though I used a regular dirt block for the bottom of the grass side). The end-stone brick is actually just overlaid with the regular stone brick texture (I admit it: I cheat when I can). The chorus and purpur blocks actually do not tile smoothly, but the shape of the chorus plant makes tiling moot (and the chiseled shape of the purpur blocks also make it moot). The flower of the chorus plant is actually the daisy pulled apart and a bit of smudge added because I really really wanted that sea anemone look for the flower. XD
I may end up redoing the chorus plant ones and purpur blocks, jsut because they seem a bit... 'busy'. But as I said, they'll do the job.
The reason the banner base does not work is because we are missing the accompanying Banner folder and all of it's content. I suspect this is one thing that the game's handling won't "Fill with defaults" (like it does with the spots on the horse). We can do one of four things:
1: Remove the banner base temporarily until all of the other artwork is accounted for. (which is a shame since then no one can see that it's actually done)
2: Request permission from another pack to use theirs as a place-holder. (I least recommend this one)
3: Let downloaders know they will need to add their own copy of that folder to their download of our pack (they themselves can get if from another pack or whatever; but none too many will know how to do this, or have the patience).
4: Copy the existing default textures to our pack as placeholders. (I most recommend this one; if we can't get it from the game, we can use the files from the wiki)
Here is a brown chicken (since I found out the original texture is a rooster and therefore would not be the type to lay eggs) but also a corrected version of the regular texture so the butt is in the correct orientation.
I've heard from someone that the redstone lines (currently)are also the wrong orientation? Anyone confirm this?
Random Egyptian style gold armor. I figure people really don't wear gold armor for utilitarian reasons (except maybe the aqua enchants) and more for "showy and flashy" reasons. I figured a good way to be "Showy and flashy" with gold is an Egyptian style.
I have a "dulled gold" version if people want, but wasn't sure this would get much reception.
I have a single player world that I wanted to play together with a friend. The world was created with "custom" settings (Create New World -> More World Options... -> World Type: Customized -> Customize) Some settings were tweaked to make it a little easier for this friend to start playing minecraft once he buys it (no lava lakes, slightly larger biomes, larger rivers, slightly more spawning for ores, peaceful settings).
When I go to host this world as a server, how do I ensure these settings will continue when new land is generated? Is it part of the world file? Or will I need to edit the server.properties file? If I do need to edit it, where can I find what things I did customize so I might be able to edit it to the same exact customization? (Or do I need to 'guess'?) Is there a resource that lists what is applicable to write in the server.properties that I could plug the data I find (or guess) into it?
I'm extremely new to hosting servers. I've gotten a little help from someone who does host one out of his house, but this stuff he doesn't know how to do.
I apologize if I'm shooting for the stars here, I just feel like a bum for getting my friend all hyped about joining this world I created for us to start in and now I think I can't deliver what I'd been promising.
Also, the world was created when I was running 1.8.2-pre4. Will this be an issue if the current minecraft_server.exe is 1.8.1 ? I feel like such a dummy asking these questions but I want to be sure I'm doing things the right way and not making a stinky pile of poop out of what's supposed to be a fun start.
I am running:
Windows 7 Ultimate Service Pack 1
Java 8 Update 31

Yep, I got that one too, Schlutt

Usually when I think of the "natural grain" in Ovo's work I think of colored pencil drawings.
Example:

But some of the stuff we've been doing reminds me more of pastel drawings:

Concern: Are we veering too far away from "always have a bit of natural grain"?

Shhhh, I made them from crumpled balls of paper.

I now officially hate beetroots with a passion >_> Just saying.......

Not the best, not the worst; eh, I'm using 'em.
Edit: oops, replace any upper case letters with lower case, I forgot Minecraft doesn't read the upper case ones.
