Darius glared at Alex, narrowing his eyes at the boy. After a few seconds of silence he gave them a scholarly harumph, then replied, "You two have already inserted yourselves into my evening enough." He glanced over Abberdean's shoulder into the blackness briefly, the frustration on his face melting in to dumb curiosity. His face snapped back to angry old pundit as he locked directly onto Abberdean. "I'm going to finish my book on..." He glanced into the unmarked tome under his arm, a brief glance at the page as he flipped it around looked like some large illustration. He read lines for a few seconds, his face slackening slightly. His composure came back and he restarted, "You little urchins can go find another old man to bother."

He slammed the door on them, sat back down, and returned to his book.

No. Time in 'comaland' is much faster.

I prefer commaland, where everything pauses (albeit briefly).

His concentration broke as the roar echoed in the distance. For the first time since he opened the door, he noticed the teenager standing in front of him. Snapped back and crossed his arms, looking down at Alex past his nose, his face scrunched in distaste. He demanded from the kid, "What did you bring here, boy?"

If the characters are in a coma, can they manipulate their coma dreams to a certain extent? Obviously not ridiculously overpowered/nonsensical things like "Jeb barfs out an antimatter cannon and blasts the bear, obliterating it", but other things like "Bobby begins to think about telepathy, and before he realizes it, he is slowly dragging a pen towards his hand".

    Just asking.

If we were to vote, I would like to vote against this. Simply because becoming even slightly powerful ruins the atmosphere of the RP. This is helplessness and an internal struggle. You can't punch your vices away, or disintegrate your phobias. Maybe in a metaphorical sense, if your character arc requires it.

Could you put the links between IC and OOC on the head posts? Maybe we'll use it more often if they're easier to access.

The passion began to seep into the edges of his consciousness. His expression intensified as the undefinable mood crept into consciousness. He gave them silence as his hand slipped off the doorknob and he tucked the book under his arm. He intently stared into the blackness, hoping if he stared into it long enough he may afford some insight as to why any of this was happening. The kids standing between him and the veil barely registered in his mind.

[How about I just refer to everyone as 'it'.]

Knock knock. Darius finally closed the book over his finger. He turned his ear to the door. He could hear them knocking clearly, but hoped that if he took long enough they would go away. Knock knock knock. With exaggerated effort, he heaved himself up from the chair and spun around to face the door.

Click, shk, knock, knock, knock. He took a moment to quietly express his frustration to himself before turning the doorknob. He opened the first few inches slowly as he reflected on his last opportunity to slam the door and avoid them completely, before giving it up and snapping the door open.

Suddenly there was an imposing figure looming on Alex. He crabbily snapped, "Yes, yes, what do you want?" He stared intently at the blackness behind them, his face stern in frustration and concentration.

[Considering nudging my age down to 12. Wolf is 12 and I don't want him to feel left-out.]

As Abberdean yelled into the cabin, Darius flinched noticeably. He otherwise didn't acknowledge the ruckus going on outside. He gave a deep sigh and turned a page.

((You said there would be two posts.
You did not say you were inside the cabin.))

[I assumed that when I said two posts, you wouldn't interrupt between the two. I was inside the cabin at the end of post 2. Anyway, maneuvers are over and he is now where I intended him to be. I have set my tone and made my intro. I shall now get back in line and conform with normal RP convention.]

    [What's an OC thread, again?]
Darius opened his eyes. He was in a cabin roughly the size of a toolshed. There was a warm fire pleasantly crackling in the fireplace built in the wall. It cast enough light to clearly make out a bookshelf on the wall opposite him. A quick check told him that he was in fact sitting down. He got up and almost fell back down. His head was pounding and his muscles were sore, Getting up made the ground feel like it was spinning beneath him. He stumbled to the window and looked outside. He could see a patch of earth at the doorstep lit by a lantern, but beyond that it was black. Looking outside the window, something itched at the edge of his psyche. He turned around and the itch subsided. He paced to the bookshelf and traced a finger across the selection. All of the books were unmarked and colored various earthen tones, arranged in no particular order. With no indication of what would particularly tickle his fancy, he pulled one out brought it to the chair...

[And now we're in intro state. Darius is incapable of doing anything until outside influence gets off his ass. EDIT: And apparently lots of things have gone down since started writing. Darius wasn't just laying there, though. I intentionally left out what he was doing while he forgot. That's why I put it down as a two-parter intro in the OC thread.]

    Darius opened his eyes.

    Huh, nothing.

He blinked a few times while his eyes adjusted, until he could make-out the ground and a few... pillars? Cautiously, he approached one and reached out for it. It feels like a tree. So the safe assumption is that this is a forest. He realized he didn't really know how he got here, but the thought was pushed out of his mind as a he was stricken by a wave of unease. He reached for his breast pocket for his penlight, only to realize that it was missing. On its way down the hand was met by the other as he nervously knit them together.

He pulled his shoulders up and clenched his hands together more confidently as he began to pace curiously forward. His eyes adjusted to the point at which he could make-out trees a good distance away. Then feelings began to stir inside him, foreign emotions with no base in the human range. On top of this was a feeling of alarm that inspired him to accelerate to a brisk stride. Suddenly it dawned on him that not only did these inhuman feelings manifest, but they were being reciprocated. He paused briefly to glance out into the darkness for the source of this alien brotherhood. He could not see anything with his limited vision, and unsure whether these feelings were hostile or not, he un-clasped his hands and broke into a jog.

In the distance he could suddenly make out a warm glow. The indescribable sense strengthened, as did the reciprocating party's vigor. He didn't break stride this time as he looked around for whatever was returning unwanted vibe he was giving. Almost hitting a tree, he focused once more on the light in the distance, trying to push all else out of his mind. His vision tunneled, his speed redoubled, and the passion intensified.

He could finally make out the warm glow. A cabin stood quietly in the impenetrable darkness, about to have its world rocked by a frightened geologist. He pushed himself with every fiber of his being, exhausting him in mind and body. This invading passion began to push out other thoughts, filling him with a desire to forget and do something he could not consciously understand. The reciprocation kept pace with him, and he knew that whatever it was wished to do it with him. He was quickly losing mental real estate as the feeling spread into every fiber of his being. He could make out details on the face of the cabin. There was a moss-green door and a four-panel window on the front wall, illuminated by a lantern.

He was so happy to get so close, and so empassioned that he forgot to keep running. It was a brief lapse in judgement, but it didn't matter any more. The ground slipped out from under his feet. He fell to his knees and forgot.
