posted a message on With the forum rapidly changing hands, what will happen to our personal data?

At the very least official threads for important Minecraft mods should be restored if possible. There is no way that mod authors are not providing 'consent' for their support threads. Classic threads for many mods like BuildCraft, IndustrialCraft, Botania, etc.. the list goes on and on.

This would be a small subset of deleted posts but for forum integrity and historical record they are the most important. Users (including myself) can help you to pinpoint such threads if needed.

Many users did not provide their consent.

I am not a lawyer or a corporate raider but it would seem that the whole notion of "consent" is completely misplaced in the results of this action. What the users did not specifically give you is permission to delete their content and accounts. They consented to their content being available by posting it and since no further action to remove it was taken on their part, then they consented to the content remaining. I cannot see how it could be interpreted any other way.

That is why it may be the case that something prevented them from being able to provide consent in the past that met the standard of the law? Being that age or EULA language or whatever.

I understand that the law applied when the transfer of assets to a new company took place. That users never consented to that. But only users with a certain economic region mattered in this decision? My consent did not matter. Thus their stake is disproportionate.

If it was me as negotiator in making this deal then there would be no way I would agree to delete 1/3 of the forum's historical data and value. Just as a simple precondition that would be a non-starter. That is totally reprehensible that the deal could go forward in this climate of usury and madness. Any responsible entity that cared about their place in history (of the 2nd most popular game ever) would have sought a better set of terms. Maybe the whole place was on fire and having a fire sale, I don't know.

Anyway, I post this just in case other companies or entities more responsibly contemplate the effects of their actions. The real world effects, not the enrichment of the executives.

I am not European so I do not know the details or the processes used in drafting and implementing this legislation or its implementation. That said I am greatly affected by its consequences on this site. This has to do with the age of the users at time of their posts? Or opt-in language or what?

I just don't see how laws can be applied retroactively to historical material. Surely EU regs didn't intend that? Especially since most likely a huge percentage of the people who were underage at the time are over age now. Can you imagine if YouTube removes all of its videos produced by underage creators? What would happen to Minecraft videos then?

I do understand that this must have been a hard decision. I mean basically for all intents you have destroyed this forum. A huge measure of posts from the most active time and most important users are gone. Buildcraft, IndustrialCraft, Botania, etc. Disgusting. And your incoming traffic will suffer greatly, thus your ad revenue.

I like many curse this site everyday now and will never trust any valuable content to it. The company, Curse, earned its name with me.

I petition those tasked with this destruction officially or unofficially, preserve the data! At the very least submit the page to the Wayback Machine at archive.org. Or better contact the https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Archive_Team and allow them to image the forum.

At some future point these regulations may be amended and you may be able to restore. This data is very important to MInecraft history.

Why are many posts being deleted or at least are no longer publicly available? For many old mods this is the only information and is a crucial link to Minecraft history.

posted a message on Werrus Shaders [I'm Back! Go To Page 11 For Updates][400,000+ DOWNLOADS!!]

I love the Werrus Shader v5 better than any other for the look and performance. There is only one thing that is bugging me. I cannot composite a resource pack skybox texture.

I like the clouds and the stars are ok, but the quick transition between day and night with no sunset bothers me. I have resource packs that make great transitions with colormaps.

With the Chocapic13 shader esp. v4 you can composite the skybox. So, I know it is possible. Is this missing feature intentional? If so, can it be edited?

Does any expert know the relevant lines in the code to change, like maybe in composite1.fsh? I have compared with Chocapic13's version but no luck so far.

    Thanks for any help.

posted a message on Animania: Immersive Animals and Pets mod that improves the passive animal experience in Minecraft

Hi sorry if this question has been asked but I did read through the thread and comments at Curse. Is there anyway to get a mixture of vanilla and Animania mobs? It seems from the config that for each type of animal it is all or nothing.

I play some other mods that add drops that don't translate to this mod.

If it was not too complex to implement and didn't affect performance, a percentage setting on replacement would be nice.

How do I keep the items and configuration when I die? I have tried several gravestone mods and they either don't work or keep only the Advanced Inventory items. Otherwise, this is an essential mod.

posted a message on CustomDrones v1.5.0 - drone tower, gun upgrades, no more crashes!

True story. In my bunker in the Nether TNT explosions from BIg Baby Drones was so frequent that I had to constantly have a Creeper Inventory Pet active to protect myself from explosions. Floating TNT and lava, burning Netherack is a terrible combination. Anyway, so with this step it just became an annoyance not a threat.

However, I started to worry about my portal and workbenches/machines and such. So, I decided to surround the whole inner area with obsidian as insurance. I was nearly finished when I broke through the top of an outer wall. Guess what came flying in through the opening??? Yeah, TNT and freaking blew up in my face!

Nothing was damaged but in a strange way I felt better knowing that I wasn't just paranoid.

Had to uninstall this mod for now. A shame. I like it. I like the wild drones too if they weren't a ravaging menace taking over everything.

I have been playing the 1.5 version on 1.10. 2 and the Nether is overrun with drones as others have mentioned. I don't think they are despawning. The number keeps increasing. There are literally hundreds of drones everywhere. TNT explosions are really common too.

I like this at first because I got all kind of drops. Now it lagging my world so much in the Nether that it is unusable.

Ok. You are implying that you know the exact nature and cause of the error then. I'll have to take your word that it can't be fixed. So, what are the exact conditions that trigger it? What are some possible workarounds?

I ask for my sake and the sake of others who might want to use your mod in 1.8.9 or other 1.3 versions. They also surely won't want their worlds corrupted. Besides this error I have found (might be others) the drones work great and modules as well. The problem comes when they run out of power and try to retrieve fuel from an inventory. Maybe refueling works but if you happen to have the controller screen open (or connected?) then the crash happens.

I am not entirely sure what set of conditions triggers the crash. Can you shed some light on that before I start corrupting worlds in testing? Otherwise the older version of the mod is a potential trap for unwary users, not by intention.

Even if it turns out that the drones are one time use and disposable then in creative they could be fun.
