Sorry if this has been mentioned before, but there is a mod that adds custom shaders, including AA. {link}. It hasn't been updated since 1.5 but gave people the option to use different shaders if they wanted.
I think this could be added similarly to how smooth lighting was added (mod -> optional feature in official release), but its definitely not a necessity and works fine as a mod for those that want it.
Never built water elevators. I seem to still get around just fine. :tongue.gif:
I know that I don't fit into the "all" category with these rants. Instead of complaining about change, how about adapt to it? Come up with creative work arounds, new systems? What? You used some guide off YT to make your elevator? Don't have a creative bone in your body? Well, there's going to be new designs in a few days (if not already). :tongue.gif:
I saw one concept video for a boat elevator and completely reworked it for my own purposes and added new designs. With a creative game such as Minecraft, building something has never been about functionality. I use a mod to fly, but I built a water elevator for an area that I rarely travel to. Why? Why not. It's fun. Now when I put a boat in any part of my system, it slowly moves then instantly breaks at the slightest hint of there not being water in front of it.
I can see why Notch wants to take out "random unexpected features" (also called "bugs"), but boats floating up water and mine-carts boosting each other seemed to fit perfectly within minecraft's system of floating blocks, redstone wiring, infinite water, etc.
I've used this method up until our server got a mod with insta-break tools. In single player, I used negative damage, in multiplayer, I used stacks of 64. Gold tools are awesome :biggrin.gif:. I've gone through 109 gold shovels and 288 gold picks ^^
Thanks Gunninja! I just wish the armor looked worn as it does in inventory . Sadly, I've switched over to other texture packs, but I'd probably come back if this pack received an update to the appearance of the items while worn.
Build something underwater. Walkway, huge room, etc. Use glass walls and illuminate the sea floor with glowstone or pumpkins (or something like lava with glass around it).
More half blocks also serve no purpose by the logic that gold serves no purpose. It looks pretty! Use it to make stuff! And I use hacked gold tools with -32000 damage to mine/dig, since they are fast.
I think its funny how people still use the term "beta" to describe a game that is complete.
I think the correct way of categorizing this is Open Beta and Closed Beta. While it may seem odd, if you think about it the way I am this is open beta, such as "open" to updates. While closed would be the final game. The term beta really doesnt describe to many multiplayer games anymore and I dont really think it should be used the way it is in this thread.
Open beta is "open" to basically everyone. Closed beta is only "open" to a select number of testers.
In general, developers can tweak the basic structure of the process in whatever way suits their work style or whim.
Also, regardless of the state of a game, new content can still be added (Notch hasn't ridiculously declared Minecraft "content complete" as I've heard one company call the final stages of polishing before ship).
Regardless, there have been many threads about this. Use the search feature to see if someone has had the same thought as you please .
Maybe try glowstone or jack-o-lanterns, I've noticed that with torches everywhere it's nice to just have one block fit in with the surrounding blocks and provide light.

Afterwards.. Yessss diamonds they are all mine.. now to hoard them until I have enough to actually make tools from them.
Now I just hack in gold tools with -32000 damage.
