I installed this mod, and it seems that if I tunnel down about 10 or so blocks, I hit invisible material that I can still tunnel through, but I can see all the caves and stuff under me. Its fun to tunnel toward something interesting, especially when the blocks near me never render.
Even if I hit the fast/fancy button or change fog views, that only fixes the immediate area, and once I leave the chunk, get more invisible block fun. I would hate to have to keep changing my view distance every chunk I explored.
Also, something strange, is when I go into a cave an put a light, I dont see the light shining, just the entity sprites of the smoke and fire. Sometimes theres a line where it renders properly, but It still dosn't work when I refresh my view.
Im having trouble actually moving the files. Im new to winrar and basically modding. I understand to delete the folder under the .jar file, but how do i move the zip into use? Do i move it into the same folder as the jar? Or open the minecraft.jar then paste? Im confused about the directory.
Thanks in advance.
Open minecraft.jar and the zip file in WinRar. Delete the META-INF from minecraft.jar. Drag the files in the zip file into the jar file.
It kinda decreased my fps from 80 to 34 (on short render let me get some screenies ) (using v3)(minecraft beta 1.1_02) doesn't seem to do anything but lower my fps :|for v3 (on sp)
That's really odd, are you sure you had the same render options for both?
Nice, was wondering when someone else was going to make a save system replacement :smile.gif: Been working on the same thing since a few months ago (check my signature link). Are you planning on making it for server too? NVM, missed your note in the OP.
MCFS is neat, but it has a lot of complexity because it's more like a proper filesystem. My region files are basically just a header of chunk offsets for 1024 chunks and up to 1024 chunks stored in a single file. It keeps things simple, and means a minimal amount of information has to be read or written when loading or saving chunks.
java.lang.SecurityException: SHA1 digest error for f.class
at sun.security.util.ManifestEntryVerifier.verify(Unknown Source)
It crashes a vanilla MC =(

Instructions:
1) Locate your minecraft.jar file. On Windows, it's in %APPDIR%/.minecraft/bin
2) Create a backup of minecraft.jar
3) Open minecraft.jar in an archive editor (WinRar/7-Zip/etc) 4) Delete the META-INF folder.
5) Copy the files from the downloaded zip file into the jar file (overwriting f.class and bz.class).
6) Run Minecraft and test!
It's great man, but now for an inevitably stupid question, will this crash mc when it updates?
It won't work with a version of Minecraft other than 1.1_02, but the only difference is framerate -- it doesn't affect any files or anything.

This is really cool, but would it ever work with Better Light? Even if the author wanted to merge these two mods?
It would be quite easy to make this work with Better Light, but Better Light modifies the same function right now. I fixed the slowness of the function, but Better Light just runs the function only once every 5 frames (I think).
I am running Ubuntu and I get this output when running Minecraft:
mridlen@trogdor:~/Downloads$ java -cp Minecraft.jar net.minecraft.LauncherFrame
Exception in thread "Minecraft main thread" java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: kk
Then it just sits there indefinitely. Any ideas?
Try deleting ~/.minecraft/bin to force the launcher to redownload the minecraft binaries, then re-applying the mod.
Also, you can launch with just "java -jar Minecraft.jar".

McRegion is compatible with both.

Is this with v4?

Anything that can make zip files will work. Pack the files into minecraft.zip, then rename it to minecraft.jar.

The things this mod changes are not used at all in multiplayer.

To put all the old chunks into region files, do something like this:

That's a problem in the texturing system. This mod doesn't do anything with texturing. Are you running any texture mods?

To clarify: When mining near bedrock, sometimes you can see through the map?
