Dear people, it's been a while!

First of all, let me assure you that this map is still being worked on and that I haven't given up on it or anything like that.
I'm working on getting the 1.5 version up within the next few days, so hopefully that goes smoothly, and I'm still working on additional side quests for the map but the one I am currently doing is quite a mammoth task. Still, hopefully you'll all enjoy seeing what remains of Chicago, right?

As for those who are asking about server, I'm afraid I really can't help you. I've never been good with all the technical stuff like that so I would advise you look through the comments and see if anyone can help you better than I ever could.

Sorry it's been so long but commitments to my education and the like come first, so please just be patient.

And for those who are interested, I occasionally put updates on progress and ideas for the map on my trusty tumblr, so follow me on there if you are that interested, or you can ask we question through that too.

    Thanks again, Dan :)

    Holy chesseballs! this is amazing.

    I have a few questions:

Can I do a play through of this on youtube including the texture packs and skin, (I will be showing the black and white videos too)

I would credit you and provide a link to your minecraft forums account& this forum post.

I would also include any other links you would like.

Please could you reply or even private message me, BTW this is amazing.

I would more than welcome you to do playthroughs, it seems you wouldn't be the first! However I would recommend waiting? I will have an update coming out within the next few weeks that will fix/improve a bunch of things and bring with it the new 5th sidequest!

    Quote from andyt876

Yeah I'm stuck at the same place. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

It seems a few have had this problem. By the looks of things the redstone didnt work properly. If you follow those tunnels to what seems like a dead end, there will be a pressure pad that opens the door to a room with some pipes in. This SHOULD set off some tnt opening up the wall to the room opposite. Should be fixed when I bring out the next version :-)

    Quote from Adrenaline Rush

i can't download it, it gives me temporary error, retrying in mega, and gamefront says it couldn't find the file, FIX IT PLEASE? or am i gonna have to play this without the texture pack? D:

It seems they're a little temperamental yes :/ I am looking into finding a decent place to upload it to that won't occasionally break every now and then. However I am busy tomorrow so it'll have to wait. Just keep trying and hopefully it'll decide to work.

How long does this map take you to play on average and how long did it take you to make it.

    Kind regards
    Djmemo12 - nitecast producer.

Depends on how you play it really. The main story itself isn't too lengthy, but if you choose to explore everywhere, you can probably get 5 hours or so out of it. Plus there are 4 side quests to play afterwards, with another 6 planned.

Excellent, Excellent, Excellent map. This map was amazing and provided me with at least 5 hours of pure enjoyment. The story, design and characterization were all fantastic. My only complaints are that I got lost a few times, so more directional guidance would be nice. Also, I don't know if you did this on purpose but, you gave me wayyy too much food. At the end I had almost two full stacks of cookies and about 26 meat. Other than those two qualms, this map was fantastic. I am very much looking forward to your further maps, if you are planning to do more. Are you planning to do more? Also, was there two, endings or just one? I am curious because I kinda felt like a **** at the end, haha. Regardless, i would give this map a 9.25/10.

Thanks for the feedback! I have been doing my best to find and resolve the flaws and stuff like this as well as the video playthroughs help alot. I am doing my best to make the story a little more directional and am changing some of the books to help with this. One thing that seems common was that it wasn't very clear, so I'm working on making sure the story is a little more helpful in giving you clear objectives.

As for the food, it may be the case that the game is best played on hard then? I haven't played it myself so I wouldnt know, but its an interesting piece of feedback. Will have to look into it further but thankyou :)

I love this map, but I'm a bit confused...

I have passed the movie theatre, and gone into the metro that follows (where one of the journals is found). After that, I take the path down into the hallways and it seems like a dead end... where do I go from there?

If you have gone deep into the Metro Tunnels after the Movie Theatre, you'll end up exploring the tunnels. One of the doors down there (that is activated by a pressure plate) will trigger TNT in another room and should open up a new area once the wall has blown up.

    Hope that helps!

help! i downloaded everything right the texture packs the world but no items names have changed!

You will need to install all the files properly. Within the bundle should be a text file telling you how. If that didn't work, check out the install-tutorial FFX put up here somewhere in the comments :)

A friend of mine should be doing an installation video too, so that will be up within the map bio at some point in the very near future.

um ok in the addon proto armor is says read gas depoisit research what file is that because i cant find a book named that?

Aha! I knew somebody would find that! When I was near finished with the map, the update came out that incorporated readable books. This meant I had to go back through the ENTIRE map and try and locate all the "read note x" signs, and then write up their books. Unfortunately, two of them I just couldnt find. Please email me a screenshot or something of where that is, that'd be appreciated!

Did you make this yourself? I'm making a map similar to your but its not based on fallout and its hard to build all the big cities by myself.

I made everything myself yes. I was determined to create everything block by block, so there was no use of world edit or SPC for building all the tunnels, buildings and everything in the map, though SPC was used to flatten large areas of land, like the locationg of the Big City.

Keep in mind this was a 2-year in-the-making project, so it took a LONG time to get everything built. Just pace yourself and it'll get done eventually. I found drawing out birds-eye view plans and looking at buildings architecture helped speed the process along a little instead of having to come up with everything off the top of my head.

(boy was that a long reply)

All download links should be working now thanks to a friend of mine that has been an enormous help!

Got some wonderful feedback from some of you and it is very much appreciated. I do my best to read every comment and personal conversation I get, and while I may not reply to all of them, all that is said is taken into consideration.

Will be posting a video up here soon to show how you install it for those that aren't sure or those who (like me) just aren't very good with all the techno-babble.

Hope you all enjoy, and I will continue to add to the map and continuously polish it until it is as good as it can get.

Thanks for your time and support folks, Dan.

Still some problems with the download it seems. Mediafire decided one of my files is copyrighted.

Will try and sort tonight, if not then I will get it done sometime tomorrow, as its now 00:45 here in the UK.

Again, sorry for the hassle. Believe me I'm not happy about it either!

Your words have not gone unnoticed people! It seems that the gamefront download isnt working for everyone, so I will also be putting up a link for a mediafire download.

The media fire download will have two parts: The files themselves, and then the world file will come separately. Had to split them up due to their total size, so if you can't get it from gamefront, try the mediafire downloads when theyre up :)

Seems the traffic is pretty high on the download page. If it isn't loading just refresh the page and it should figure itself out. Somehow managed to hit about 500 downloads already!

Will look at moving it from gamefront in the next week, but as the bundle is over 200mb, mediafire isnt an option. Dont worry, I'll get it sorted, as well as getting some work done to add more side quests.

(For those who might want to get involved with the production of the map, I'd direct you here: http://thegeekydigest.tumblr.com/post/39655772157/fallout-rh-supporter-stories )

Folks, it's all good to go, and I'm uploading it to the interwebs now! Apologies for the delay but college and other things in my life to take priority over this, though I do my best to keep this project on schedule.

The download link will be up as soon as possible, so keep your eyes peeled!

I will also update the adv map bio in the mean time, to clean up any questions you might have.

Thank you for you patience, and again sorry for the delay,

    Dan.

    Latest update:

I am busy working away right now on gearing this map up for 1.4.7 as I write this. A fair bit has changed since 1.4.5 so please be patient! The download should be up by the end of Friday (08/02/2013) as planned and will hopefully be available for all you lovely people to download and play!

Those who are wondering what will be different; not too much, mainly just polishing. Changing a few textures, fixing a few exploits/problems with the map and I've also been working on more side quests, so there will eventually be 10 to do once you finish the main story, with 4 available to play as of now.

Thank you all for the support, I am shocked and amazed by how the traffic has soared since the beginning of this week! Again, please make sure you read the bio (if thats the right word) of the map before asking question, as most of the answers can be found in there. Thanks again, Dan. (SaveTheGnomes)

As it is nearly midnight here in the UK, let me try and some up a few of the questions that have been asked:

    - I understand that there have been a few issues with it working. Please note I am doing what I can, and will be putting the map back up for download shortly, though it will still only be on 1.4.5

    - I will be bringing out the next update hopefully by the end of the month. Just a few big/glitch/exploitation fixes, a few new tweaks to the appearance and 1 new side quest. Just bare with me as my education does come first, surprisingly.

    - The download will, sadly, be down for a while. It has been point out to me that I could get sued for (unknowingly to me) including the .jar file in the download. Will be back up as soon as I can get it done!

    - Latsly, I am also looking for help from anyone who can offer it. While I can build a map and sort the texture packs (to the best of my ability) my technical ability in terms of sorting out downloads and organising files and the like is lacking to say the least. If you think you can help and have EXTENSIVE knowledge of this sort of thing, your assistance would be appreciated. If so, email me at [email protected]

Thank you all for the support, it's nice to see this near 2-year in the making project has reached a much larger audience than I ever thought it would! Night, folks!

Why is the download so long? It's gonna take 15 hours!!!
Edit: Nevermind.... It was probably Chrome behaving bad....

may not have been. The files have the (huge) map file, multiple texture packs, a few videos for locating side-quest entrances and all sorts.

This looks really good I just saw it on Bluexephos's channel they had sound effects on theirs and I was just wondering is that default with the map or did they do it themselves?

aha my first customer! Yes the sounds are included within the files for the adv map, following the instructions for set up should change them for you :)

However, the map is only on version 1.4.5, so you may need to back track in minecraft versions for it to work. Will be releasing an update when I can, but I'm so dang busy right now, so it won't be up to date for a little while yet, sorry.

Don't worry folks, your warnings of the dodgy download link have been heard!

With Christmas and New Year having just been, and with some of my A-Level exams coming up next week, I'm a little busy right now but will release a further update when I can, most likely just bug fixes, although more side quests are in the works.

Talking of which, I'm planning to do an extra six, and three are already planned in my head. I quite like the idea of getting the community and supporters involved so, should you have tumblr, feel free to head here to submit your side-quest story ideas!

I'll try and re-upload the download stuff when I can, but like I said, I am a little busy, so bare with me.

    Happy New Year too!

Excellent map, the atmosphere is very great. A few times it was hard to see where I was supposed to go, but I found my way to the end. The co-op side quest is somehow accessable without completing the main quest, but I don't know if that was intentional or not on your part. I also had a hard time finding the entrance to one of the side quests (not the armor one, co-op, or the one where you visit the main base.) When I got to the city, the traders at the beginning didn't have anything useful, which was kind of a shame due to all the bottlecaps I had made sure to collect. I also found an arena type area, where you had to fight lots of mobs, and the reward to that (full power armor) was WAY to overpowered for that point in the story. Iron armor would have been a better choice I think. The invisible walls also got annoying at some points. It would also be nice to see more side quests and more areas/towns/dungeons interspaced throughout the map, instead of right at the end. Overall, the map was pretty well made and I had a lot of fun, it just needs a little bit of polish. 8/10

This, good sir, is the kind of feedback I was hoping for. I really appreciate it.

It's early days, and I plan on continuously update it to fix problems. Like you said, it needs a little polish, and that's exactly what I intend to do. I have been looking into the flow of the map and plan to make a it a little more obvious as to where to go, so thank you! :)

I'm also planning to do a further 6 sidequests now I have got the hang of command blocks. They will (when theyre done) be in the same room, but will teleport you to and from the new sidequest locations. I have to already written up and have started building the first; a journey into the remnants of the Skyscraper landscape of Chicago.

Thanks for your time, glad you enjoyed it!
