To be honest, i'm not sure about how to approach lore in any future areas or maps I make after Pantheon. I put a lot of effort into writing the lore for CoS, only to find in the majority of feedback that not many people actually bothered to read it.

I guess here's a small Community Question: What do you guys think about lore in CTM maps?

It depends if it is necessary, and also how you advertise the map. If the player is in for a ton of action, they won't read the books. They are not here for that and they dont care.

It also depends if your lore is worth to read. If it's a small backstory on areas, the average player doesn't care. If however, your lore is a big part of the map and explains clearly why the player is here collecting all the pieces of wool (or whatever your monument is), now they will be more tempted to read them, because it's a part of the map.

What I recommend doing is, create a caracter that the player will impersonate (an all-out, "Your name is Josh, you came to these caves to find your dead father", something like that.) , or set the backstory of the caracter. (Where he is from, what he does in life, etc. but don't give him a name.) If your caracter is interesting, players will want to know more about him.

The thing you want to avoid, is maps like super hostile. Where the player is in the map.. because he is.. The map does not give you a reason why you are there, you just are. This is terrible for lore and should be avoided at all costs.

If you really want the player to read your story, maybe command blocks is the way to go. They will read it since it will appear directly on their screen.

Everything like this is fake. You can't make money from your computer by doing surveys and other kind of crap like that. When you go on these sites, watch out for viruses, and if they ask for your credit card number, close the window and move along.

That is a good quote. And it's 100% true when you think about it.

I've written a little lore for my map. It's not that great but it's better then nothing I guess..

In your younger days, you dreamt of adventure and danger. Growing up, both of these things sadly never came to you. Tired of your boring and uneventful life, you decided to let everything go and sought what you always wanted.

Your researchs led to the mysterious land of Azira. A magnificent island untouched by the modern civilisation of the earth. Not much is know about this place since only a handful of explorers have survived to tell their story. They speak of a monument of some sort. No one knows what purpose it serves. The only fact you know for sure is that it is missing it's pieces, 8 pieces to be exact.

This was more then enough for you. You needed to complete the monument and unveil it's secrets. But you also learned that around the island, the weather can be harsh, so finding a ship to lead you there won't be easy. After a couple of days of intense searching, you finally found the only captain stupid enough to take you to Azira, lucky you. You board the Eagle, a mediocre ship that, as the name implies, should be fast but really isn't. This might be a tougher trip then you first anticipated.

After a whole week on the seas, you arrive near the island. The capitain calls you from the crappy deck full of holes : "We're here, be you ready?" You get up from your bed and grab the gear that is in the chest near you. You heart starts beating faster. You feel a mix between fear and excitement.

    It's time.

This is the start of your journey.

    This..

    Is your story.

So I can still get free posts as long as I say that I like Minecraft Classic. They didn’t say you couldn’t lie.

Guys, guys, GUYS. Stop replying to that guy. Can't you see he is only here to start a fight. Obvious troll is obvious.

Trolls are like wasps, when you see one, you shut the f*ck up and you don't move until it goes away.

I feel like punching a baby in the face and throwing him out of a 30 floor building.

//Angry rant about everything in life

I HATE THE NEW MINECRAFT LUNCHER! AAARGJIUWFUFW

Before it was so easy to install mods, just drag and drop, but now, oh no they had to make it worst.
I know they had good reasons to make it but AGHG. I've been trying to install Karrot's SPC jar for like an hour straight!

I don't know anything about modding, so I just follow along youtube tutorials, but now there ARENT any tutorials because its NOT an official release and people don't have it.

After a couple of minutes I succeded in making SPC work, BUT it can't find the WorldEdit.jar ANYWHERE! AND I HAVE NO IDEA WHERE TO PUT IT! So I'm stuck with a useless SPC jar because to make maps, you need worldedit, but worldedit doesnt work and I want to make maps! PLEASE GUYS. Save my soul.

Sorry for all the caps but I'm real angry right now. I'd go take a walk outside but there are mosquitos outside, and I am naturaly born a magnet to mosquitos. I attract them like a twinkie box attracts a fat person. So the outside sucks. Well to be honest, the outside world sucks most of the time (there are some good times where the mosquitos aren't there or any insects for that matter, WINTER! GOD I LOVE YOU!) The only reason I like summer is because there is no freaking school, though it was better when I didn't work almost everyday during the said summer, a.k.a when I was 10. Though when I was 10 my mother used to put me in a summer camp which FREAKING SUCKED. I HATED everyone there. The monitors with their stupid games that weren't even FUN in the first place. Just to add to the boringness, they made you play the same like FIVE games for the whole FREAKING summer! What a great time! I was almost happy when school started back in august.

Where was I? Oh yea, FREAKING MOSQUITOS! Yesterday I go outside for like THREE MINUTES and I come back in with like 5 mosquitos bites, I was so mad. The thing is, they don't just STEAL your blood, those little jerks make it so that their bite ITCHS like **** for like 2 days straight. Then when it stop itching, the second you touch it, BAM it itchs like hell again! I don't think there is an other insect that I hate that much.. Maybe exept spider INSIDE the house. You are just minding your own business, going throught the house and then you see a small black spot on the floor, you stop to look at it and it starts to run FREAKING fast. As a normal human being, I start to yell and hit the floor with my hand trying to kill it. Most of the time I get him, but when I don't, and I lose track of where that jerk went, I start to freak out. http://i.qkme.me/3pad70.jpg HOLY I'm screwed! When I hop in my bed im so paranoid and I have trouble to sleep. God I hate those guys. If they werent super useful in the world we live it, I'd kill every single one of them, same with MOSQUITOS!!!!

Yeah, I can't see any differences either, apart from the texture pack and a slight difference in where you were positioned...
