What was your reason? Just because your quitting I don't understand why you had to remove that guide, it was very useful. Also, I don't think it's against the rules to do what he is doing.
I'm fairly certain it's a respect thing. Due to the nature of the forums and everything that's happened behind the scenes with the mods that a lot of the forum doesn't know about, he feels under-appreciated and wants his work to be recognized.
Hahahaha. Yeah. The last version had an unused texture where the biome-sidegrass is now, so I put a tribute to Kris18 there. It's in a different spot now, lemme do a small update.
EDIT: Updated for Beta 1.5 with everything I've done so far. There are still a few Beta 1.5 textures that I need to do, but I won't have time to work on it for a few days.
You can use FL Studio to edit MIDIs. Other than that, most people I know who work with them use Anvil Studio, which I personally don't like but it seems to be a popular choice. I really like Guitar Pro, but that's just because I'm more used to tableture than music sheets.
Also, MIDIs used to be a fairly popular choice for music, they weren't just used in Pokémon games. A lot of older game systems used them because they could package the system with it's own soundfont, which made the game itself only need to contain the instructions to make the song without needing to make an actual audio file. This let them use lots of different songs while only using a few kilobytes of space.
I think the guys at Mojang should cooperate and come up with a working schedule.
Maybe update once a week to fix the bugs listed on the wiki, and then have the old "Seecret Friday Updates!!!!" to add cool new features on the last friday of each month, which they work on throughout said month?
Not only is it a reasonable schedule, but it'd probably satisfy the majority of the players.
Anyway, seeing as both Portal 2 and MC Beta 1.5 come out tomorrow, I'll really only have time for one or the other for the majority of the day... I'll try to finish up the textures I don't have (Jeb tweeted some of them a few days ago) and I should have it completed Wednesday at the latest.
Also, this next release may finally have textures for the rest of the stuff in the Misc folder, and boats/minecarts. Once those are done and I finish the new textures for 1.5, this pack will be absolutely complete. (I hope. x_x)
Why do people thing crafting storage blocks is some kind of space-saver?
a single block unit of whatever stores 9 particles of whatever, whereas teh same block unit of space can be occupied by a single chest, containing 27 cells, each of which may contain 64 particles of whatever, for a grand total of 1728 particles of whatever.
Those same 1728 particles converted to blocks would consume 192 block units, versus 1 for the full chest; certainly NOT a space-saver by any stretch of the imagination.
Not if the blocks are stackable.
Let's say you have a shitton of coal. Instead of having 27 stacks of 64 coal for a total of 1,728 units of coal per chest, you could craft them into blocks and have 27 stacks of 64 coal blocks, or 15,552 units of coal per chest. See why it's a space saver?
Download the server software here: http://www.minecraft.net/download.jsp
There are two kinds: one is just the minecraft_server.jar, and one is an executable one with a GUI.
Depending on your OS, choose whichever the site says is appropriate. Start up the server and it should create some files. Edit the "properties" file to choose what suits you best, restart the server and give your IP address to whomever you want to join the server. It's that simple.
If you want a server wrapper such as Bukket though, that's a bit more involved and you should look it up on the respective site for the wrapper.
Well, unrelated, but I actually do like Coke more than Pepsi. Coke is more filling, and has a stronger taste to it. But I digress.
Not liking HD textures is no reason not to fix them, because plenty of people DO like them. I personally never use them but that doesn't mean it isn't a growing problem for a lot of texture pack makers/users. Sure, the mod works, but why do we have to rely on a mod to provide something so simple?
As far as the grass thing goes, he must've been doing something wrong because the "side-grass fix" mod that made you edit out the grass part of the dirt and place it somewhere else in the file gave me absolutely no additional lag.
I'm not trying to say anything against Notch or his team, just that his priorities aren't that of his fans. That isn't a bad thing, but maybe he could tweak his battle plan a little to accommodate us more? I dunno. I'm happy with the updates and I'm not trying to complain, I'm just pointing out some of the more obvious things people talk about.
He has no obligation to add any features at all, just look at the ToS page. That being said, there are some features and bug-fixes (like HD textures, sides of grass blocks, etc) that are completely obvious and it's a wonder why he hasn't put the 5 minutes to fixing/adding them.
I stand on the side of "let Notch do what he wants, it's his game" because I was in the same boat a few years ago, but I do agree that once in a while it just seems like he's completely ignoring us. I don't resent him for it, after all he has a life and he wants to do things his way, but some things just need doing to make this game that much better.
Bump for a question. Someone voted "1/5 (Poor)" for my texture pack on the Minecraft Mod Center. Is there anything you guys really don't like that I should change, or add alternatives for? Please, I love feedback.
Seriously, if there's anything I can do, just say so.

I'm not sure what should be done.
It's a type of chat protocol, kindof like IM.

Here's the Wikipedia page on MIDI files: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Midi
