Aug 20, 2012RyguyBeta posted a message on Really hoping they bring over the repair function to 1.8I'm noticing that they are still trying to figure out what they can selectively bring over from 1.9 to 1.8, but I'm crossing my fingers that they at least bring over the repair function over for armor and tools. I have so many pieces of armor and tools stored in chests since I don't really want to waste them when something that seems relatively simple could be implemented. Wishful thinking, maybe, but it definitely helps with the armor situation when it starts getting down and you practically have to remove it since the durability is so low and the armor protection is practically nonexistent.Posted in: MCX360: Discussion

was thinking that too lol.
like i said in another post, it would be weird seeing a female then hearing a manly battle cry.
Luckily they'll patch it out in the 1.8.2 update, I believe that is when they replaced the standard, "ugghhh" sound with something along the lines of bones cracking. Scared the crap out of me when I first heard it cause it was so loud.
Jul 15, 2012RyguyBeta posted a message on What's the best way to get through a cave system without getting lost?Posted in: MCX360: DiscussionQuote from Losttiger89
For me the easiest way not to get lost is by placing torches on the left going in, so to find my way back out the torches will be on your right.
Quote from Mustache_Guy
The single easiest way it to use torches. Two birds, one stone. While exploring a cave, place torches either only on the left wall, or the right wall. that way, if you put them on the left while going into a cave, you just need to make sure the torches are on the right wall to get out.
This. I always noticed that I would put torches on my left side when exploring, so I decided to make a conscious decision to make sure any branch I made in a cave I would put the torch on the left side going in, and make sure that I could try to make it noticeable to get back. Unless you get a really huge system that constantly branches, 9/10 you'll be able to get back out of a cave system if you do the left going in, right going out method.

Reason for this:
The game can lag terribly (we all know) and if you don't have a HD TV that can handle splitscreen with this. Your xbox could lag even more, more or less, even mess up your tv in some cases. It looks weird too.
Where did you hear this? All the talk I got from the developers was that standard definition TV's, unless sufficiently big, couldn't display the text and icons sufficiently enough for distinction. They said that trying to play the game in splitscreen kept them from telling what was in their inventory, not to mention how many of any particular item. Same goes for text, since playing the game in splitscreen lessens the amount of real estate that anything can be displayed, and since the GUI is scaled down accordingly based upon what type of splitscreen is used, it'd just be a miserable pain to see everything on a SDTV in splitscreen.

Thats actually great news, I thought they would do every increment upt to 1.2, (i.e. 1.8.2 -> 1.0 -> 1.1 -> 1.2), but that's great that they plan on making a major update like that from 1.8 to 1.2. Then again, by the time 1.2 rolls around for the 360 version, I think we'll be looking at 1.5 in the PC version. so it'll be a vicious cycle until the PC version stops updating.

hey guys, the update today showed that we can look at other peoples standing in the leaderboards,
i went strait to the top and lots of hackers had 55k of everything??!
seriously this is so stupid when lots of people try hard to get a good leaderboard ranking
i see that a few people have got banned because their name is ?????, but still other people have the top rankings
i hope this is fixed by either:
banning all the people with 55k stats on all- some things like sugar cane are easy but realy 55k travelled? the game hasnt been out for that long its obviosuly a hack
remove their ranking for the leaderboards
i thought there would be none of this, but i was wrong will leaderboards ever be fixed on xbox?
Like others, I never both with the top positions of ANY leaderboard online, most of the time it's occupied by some cheater/hacker that didn't get it legit. The only one I focus on is my friend leaderboard so that it's only competitive with my buddies and I. The only time I don't focus on a fried's leaderboard is when I don't have enough friends on it to begin with, then it's just a matter of just improving but with not as much drive.
Jun 13, 2012I generally play on Easy. I used to play nonestop on Peaceful, but as time went on, I got kinda bored of it, so I bumped up the difficulty to Easy to give myself some chaos to spice things up a bit. I only play on East with friends when we play cause we all enjoy dealing with the mobs together. The only time we switch on down to Peaceful is for a major build that requires all of us, otherwise it just stays on Easy and we try to keep anything from getting blown up.Posted in: MCX360: Discussion
Sometimes this game can be exactly like a survival horror when exploring caves, a creeper explosion going off right behind you does give you the (excuse the pun) creeps.

Who cares about cross-functionality? SupaSura, you seem to be the only one who does.
I don't care if it ever comes because it will be worthless when it does. I'm pretty sure we'll never see cross-platform multiplayer. All you'll probably be able to do is link accounts or some other trivial thing that doesn't do anything for the actual game itself.
I'm in agreement with you, when I heard of cross-play, I was skeptical. Then upon the actual release of the 360 version and they announced it was Beta 1.6.6 and not OR 1.1 or 1.2, I knew it wasn't going to happen.
The whole linking of accounts and such, I do belive that'll prolly happen and is going to be the extent of any cross-platform compatibility between the two.Quote from maces006
he definately has a good point here becuase so far the xbox edition currently has more features than the original 1.6.6 of the pc edition
I agree, I love that the game has the new map feature that allows you to see everyone on the map. I couldn't do that in the PC version at all because you could only dupe map_0, unless you were the admin. The Xbox version does some unique things that I actually wish were on the PC version. Even using the new crafting interface on the 360 version has me spoiled cause I'll want to make stuff lightning quick, but I'm left to clicking the mouse to arrange everything.

I'm playing in 12w23b and I've been searching for over an hour for freaking cows. I've traveled over 800 blocks, there's been a sh*tload of sheep, some chickens, some pigs, but no cows. A few hours ago, I found a total of 23 cows, most were glitched inside the jungle leaves. I'm about to burn down this damn jungle and blow up the temples. This is bull****.
I'm in the same boat, barely find any cows, I'll have to go about luring them and breeding them to get the leather to make my books. My situation is that I have a crap ton of chickens/ducks EVERYWHERE. Everywhere I go, there are tons of them. Barely found sheep to make my first bed in the snapshot, but man do I have enough cooked chicken and feathers.
Jun 12, 2012RyguyBeta posted a message on I may have convinced my friends to get the PC versionLast night while doing some cave exploring and gathering of resources with buddies online, I was telling them of some of the new features that are part of the latest PC update and what they can expect, although prolly a year from now. They both never played Minecraft before the Xbox version came out, but now they are really getting into it and I can tell they are both intriqued by the new features that are going to be added. They definitely liked the sound of the new biomes and the larger world, not to mention the XP system with enchantments. At least one of them I'm sure is going to pick up the PC version out of curiousity.Posted in: MCX360: Discussion
I can definitely tell that the Xbox version will actualy help the sales of the PC version just because of the diversity that the PC version offers in comparison, although the Xbox version has felt more social than I ever experienced on the PC while being on servers with people I knew.

...so always then
This. The Xbox version will never fully catch up to the PC version unless they stop updating the game in the near future or slow it down to a complete crawl. With over a year gap in content, and the PC constantly belting out stuff within the span of 3 months per update, I don't expect this version to be up to snuff with the PC version. That said, I've been happy with the game, I certainly look forward to the adventure aspects being implemented, but right now I'm enjoying making building projects and exploring cave systems with my buddies online via voice chat. Soooo much easier to yell about a creeper
Jun 3, 2012Like maces006, I just refer to the friends leaderboard. I know I'll never get to the very top of the leaderboards, so I don't even try. Doesn't help that almost every arcade game suffers from some sort of hacking to have people at the top. And sometimes it's not even a hack, but a glitch with how the numbers are tallied.Posted in: MCX360: Discussion

IAnd perhaps mining ore would deposit the XP directly into your bar, instead of generating an orb. No orb = no annoying tinkling sound when you are mining.
What I really love about mining is the constant sound of that "plop" sound you get from picking up an item, I don't really want to hear the XP "ting." Dunno, maybe I'll get used to it.
