The alpah section is the beta. He just hastn't update the heading
Yeah, just downloaded it for the heck of it. I ran the server and it was for the beta 1.2_01. That REALLY pisses me off because ive spent like an hour searching for a third party server app. anyways thanks Spoony!

Does the map automatically save or will i have to type some command to save it before closing the server?
Hey, your server should save it automatically every 5-10minutes, but if you want to be sure, go to your server client, and type "/save-all" without quotes, and it will save your map.
I found out that i was holding chain boots, and that the boots are invisible. Now why the heck am i getting random chain boots, as i noticed i had like 10 in my inventory.
When I go to an empty slot in my inventory, I can't see my arms/hands. it's fine, but it's weird and a little annoying. anyone know how get my arms back?
I'm like 99% sure my minecraft didn't update itself when i logged in. so was the big thing today was that it was just going to be called beta? Im confused.

Yes, and there is alpha server downloads, and we need beta. BTW why hasn't he updated that portion.
