A lot of maps I see seem to be based around having a team of players to beat. Does anyone know of any complete the monument maps that can be done by a solo player?

It doesn't matter how old this thread is, please keep posting if you find more. I need all solo CTM maps I can get my hands on haha. Thanks.

Pretty much every map is. All Vechs' maps, all AMLP maps, all TikaroHD maps, Ragecraft series, all meant for 1 player. LP'ers just like teaming up.

Wow so many amazing reviews. Thanks to all, now most new maps at least have 1-2 ratings, and we can finally add them to the list of maps. Thanks so much for taking the time to let us know how good/bad the maps were <3

Would anyone here have interest in a random loot filter for MCEdit? I'm designing one as a sort of programming exercise, and I basically want to know if I should make it user-friendly.

By the way, while I'm on the topic and because I anticipate the question coming up: What are people's opinions on using random loot? I feel like people always point to Inferno Mines as an example that random loot doesn't work, but they always forget that Waking Up, which was probably one of Vechs' best maps, used random loot. I think it's like any other tool: In the right hands, used correctly, it can work very well, but if the person using it doesn't care enough to do it right, it turns out horribly. Also, it can't be the only type of loot you use; it has to be just a part of your loot system.

Yes. Make it so we can put an item in the first slot of the chest to determine the tier. I was actually going to make this, but I'm kinda lazy so thank you for doing it <3

    Hey all,

I've working with command blocks to make stuff happen. Basically, I want to test for players with a specific score, and have a specific amount of health. I can get it working in single player... But I would really like for it to work in multiplier.

This is what I was thinking might work, but the syntax is wrong... I tried many others, but I deleted them while I was troubleshooting.

From what I gather, I need to have these two operations in the same command string or else it will test for anyone, or the closest player.

To summarize, I need help putting these together if possible, and if not, any other ideas are much appreciated. Thanks.
    test

    testfor @a[score_Shaelyn_min=1,score_health=30]

Long time lurker here, I have a couple of questions for you guys:

What kind of "Puzzles" would you put in a ctm map without it being totally breakable? I want to have puzzles to break up the combat in my map, I'm hoping that I can use barrier blocks to help with making unpassable barriers that can be removed by doing something.

This is more of a request but, for the map I am working on I am basically making a gallery of different "Trees" for secret reasons. I am building some by hand, and the rest are generated or grown. I have a sign on each tree citing how it was made. Now I am asking if anyone knows any tree generating filters (besides forester), or alternatively if you know of anywhere to get good tree schematics or maybe even you want to make some for me?

Environmental puzzles, really. Walking on gravel can be a puzzle. Puzzles tend to be traps, and are usually the mapmaker trying to beat the player on blowing them up. There's unexpected traps, and traps that are like a puzzle, where you see that it's trapped and try to carefully dismantle it.

I figured out how to make the unbreakable enchantment to work Krose. With All-U-Want, you need to create and save the item in singeplayer and then add it to the map in singleplayer. Pretty much the only way that would work :0

That explains something. That's why I recommend to directly do the NBT-tags in 1.8, it's much easier to figure out why stuff doesn't work then.

A bit of a technical question, but- does anyone know how to increase the durability of items dropped by mobs? I can think of a couple of ways to do this, but I'm wondering whether anyone else knows of a method that works:

    1. Mobs that pick up players loot tend to drop that loot at the same level of durability. Perhaps there's something there to exploit.
    2. Give mob equipment a negative durability. This doesn't seem to work for me in 1.8.
I know that giving equipment the 'Unbreakable' tag works, but chipmunk told me that this tag does not work in multiplayer. I'll need to test that.

Unbreakable works fine in SMP, wut?!

You can just /entitydata the dropchances to 100% instead of 200% all the time though :P

I like the idea about a map with just one review having its score hidden. It means a person scrolling down a list can't be entirely bias against a single-reviewed map before actually reading the review. But if multiple people say a map is bad, or good, then there's slightly less subjectivity and therefore the map can be better advertised at first glance. Or that's how I see it, anyway.

The problem is is that most maps have one reviews. This would make most maps unrated. That stinks, in my opinion. If it was like 10% it would be fine but it's way more then that.

Thanks for your concerns Rubisk and Moldy, yes I was using code from the beginning. And special thanks to Fangride, I still have to think more about the format so we do not need to change it again later, these things consume a lot of time.

Smeagolow, Rubisk and Aimee, here are some ideas:

There are six ratings, ranging from ☆☆☆☆☆ to ★★★★★. Our review system produces scores in the range of 0-30, so we would end up with the following ranges of scores:

    ☆☆☆☆☆ 0 to 4

    ★☆☆☆☆ 5 to 9

    ★★☆☆☆ 10 to 14

    ★★★☆☆ 15 to 19

    ★★★★☆ 20 to 24

    ★★★★★ 25 to 29

Maps with a score of 30 are unlikely to happen, we can have five special colored stars in this case, if such a map happens I think it deserves the extra attention.

I would suggest the following rule set:

Maps with scores below 10 point would require to contact the mapmaker in order to get his approval to have the map listed.

Maps with only one review should not display its score, as it is only representative of an individual.

Maps with several scores will show a statistically representative score. Working on a simple algorythm in case you like the idea.

    Have a nice day!

    Seems very good!
E: actually, having a map with just 1 review be hidden isn't a good idea, since most maps only do have 1. We kinda need more reviews. Sort of.

BTW: To everyone who plays and finishes maps, if you finish one, Just write us a review!

You don't need to be a real super CTM-hardcore fan to write a review. Just tell us what was good/bad about it, so other people know whether or not it's a good map, don't be scared.
I seem to really lack time to play CTMs fully lately :(

It'll work just like reviews I think, with 6 points = 1 star or so. We already had reviews, yet nobody ever did them.

I would encourage the use of stars as a rating, as suggested by Rubisk. Look: ★★★★

    The good:
    Easier to understand.
We can use colors for something else.

    The bad:
They are Unicode, they break a format I'm working on which uses a monospaced font (we seem not to have tables)

I'm testing things, do not worry if you see strange things in this post. I give up for today, the only thing I'm achieving is a headache. The BB Code is utterly glitchy or I'm worse at it than I expected. Have been battling with the forum for three hours already.

★★★★☆ Looks pretty good I think... I likes.

I hope you tried the direct BB-editor [BB]? The standard editor gives everyone a headache I think.

    How about this colour system?

    • best (green)
    • great (teal)
    • good (brown)
    • not so good (amber)
The advantage of this system is that the worse two categories do not draw the eye to the same extent as the first two. Of course, I'm not sure if any colour system is perfect because the infrequently occurring colours will draw your attention the most (this bold text does the same thing)

This may be really weird, but you somehow managed to exactly revert the loot system that is most widely used (I don't think what started it, probably WoW, never played that), but I'm used to yellow/goldish -> Purple -> Blueish (teal) -> Green -> White/gray

Btw, can't we just use diamonds/stars/something to make it immediately clear what's better? Since 3 > 2 > 1 makes sense to everyone.

I still think we should put a "featured" section or so at the top, having a new map in the spotlight every week. There's tons of maps coming out (they aren't all completely over the top ragecraft maps), you just need to browse the normal section for a while, not everyone posts here .We might want to look ourselves too instead of waiting for the mapmakers to come.
