I dunno. Guess I need more help. Something important seems to be missing, but I don't know what. Any tips?
It's my first time making this kind of area, never done anything this big or lavaish...
OK guys quick update on my Monster Hunter CTM map (you've probably forgotten about it):
I have built 3 wool dungeons so far and have made custom monsters for 2 of them. A second 'snapshot' of the map will be available once all monsters for the 3rd area are designed and implemented
Here's a screenie of about [[1/5]] of the 3rd dungeon:
-so sorry for snipping this-
It would look very good if it wasn't taken from such a messy spot. I like the idea, but am confused and need to look really hard to see what is going on...
That sums up Zisteau nicely. Taking several hours to complete what should have taken less than three minutes.
That sums up average CTM player nicely. Running through everything without giving about what is actually going on, and just tunneling to get it done asap...
Sorry... I just wanted to rage a bit
It's really what I see though, and it makes me a little sad. I probably should not complain. If you have fun, it's right. I'm going back to farming trees at I1 in UT3...
Ok, I got an Intel® Core™2 Quad Core CPU Q8300 @ 2.50Ghz 2.50 Ghz
Or that's what windows tells me.
With that I got an
NVIDIA GeForge G210
and a later added, so original Samsung SSD 840 Series ATA Device
with an extra storage hard-drive, non-SSD
Should I put MCEdit on the SSD? MC is located there...
Yeah, apparently that makes it twice as good
Well i found the way to go with random blocks. Just take a 4x4x5 brush or so, put chance very low, about 40-60 (0 chance is as unrandom as 100 if that makes sense), set line spacing to 3 and go bzzzzzzzzz. That creates way more realistic variety and looks awesome imho
About 200x200x150. Thats about the old far rd setting. So iys big, not huge.
Mcedit can handle it, but brushing the area with WE or using randomblocks... man....
So, I am really wondering... What specs do you guys have? I'm used to working with small areas, and MCEdit is fine and all that with small areas. But, now I started working on a bigger area, and it takes forever.... The area isn't even insanely big, and I thought my specs (2.5Ghz 4-core processor, 4GB Ram) where pretty good. No, apparently. What kind of insane specs do you guys have that you can make, well, what you all post?
Stuff you can put on your bread. It's delicious, and contains large amount of white sugar. Try it now!
Jk... It's a make-a-CTM-map-in-a-weekend contest.
Oh sorry Drago. I didnt see there was another page yet...
I'm guessing this is the best place to ask this... What do the orange 128x16x16 squares mean in MCEdit, at all chunks at the edge. For some reason, the edge of my world is really messy, with random chunks all over the place that have an orange color. Why is that?
Well, just to clarify, they were all of a different area. I always decided to leave naming be, and then... I decided to do it all at once, since I felt like I had to... @Gurdstufftechnic, I'll send you some picks+explanation etc.

I found more good music:
And I was going to make an amazing minecart area with stuff all over the place. Then 14w11b happened

It's because of the glasses? Vechs has green glasses too on most pictures
You can take frostfell falls, since there is no ice in the area. Don't ask me why I came up with that name... So, take it if you want!

That sounds great. I really s*ck at this... Although, it doesn't really have to do with the gameplay... I'll think about it though.

So I was willing to name my areas. After 1 hour, these are the results...
Grails Valley
Swarmplands
Stormcliff castle
Frostfell Falls
Voidwater
Yeah... any tips on coming up with names? I'm really stuck...
