posted a message on Reading People's Emotions?
Isn't that just, you know, empathy? =/ Unless you mean understanding a person's emotions with no actual indicators about how they're feeling, in which case . . . . I dunno.

Generally people read emotions by body language/expression/stance/tone/how people speak, etc, and it's effectively impossible to know how someone's feeling if they aren't displaying 'anything', since emotions HAVE TO trigger some visible effect in your body, unless you're paralyzed or something. And even if a person would try not to display any emotions, it can still be ruled as indifference . . . o-o

So yeah, my best guess is that OP just means empathy. Or people that know how to read people's body language and such. Which isn't a 6th sense superpower by any means.

posted a message on When do you THINK 1.3 will come out? (100+ SUPPORTERS)
We haven't really gotten any news on the ssp-smp merge in a while I think, so this might be an indicator that it's nearly done.
At the very least, my answer is 'Anytime after the ssp-smp merge is done', since that's the official criteria for 1.3's release set by Mojang themselves =P

posted a message on Most effective source of food?
    Melons or bread.

Chicken can be OK, but definitely late into the game. It takes a while to get a good one set up, especially since you basically need a wheat farm anyway right next to it.

Melons are space-convenient, but if you have a wheatfield design for a wheat farm then you can just rack up the wheat.

Of course, for the lulz i'll say cookies as well. They're actually easy to get, although they're not by any means 'effective'.

    Adventure Gamemode . . .
    . . .
    . . .
I have absolutely no clue what to feel about that O_O

To add to the enchanting thing, 30 is the new max for levels, and the bottom option will always be 30, but that appears to be intentional anyway.

posted a message on Minecraft 1.3: Tomorrow Official or Snapshot?
    *sigh*

If you're going to do this, every time you ask, think to yourself 'Have they finished the ssp-smp merge yet?'. If the answer is no, it will be a snapshot. If yes, it might be a snapshot, might be a full release.

posted a message on ARG WHY?!?!?
People have to be connected to the same router because the ssp-smp merge isn't completed yet and port-forwarding doesn't work properly. May or may not be intended. So yeah.

And yeah, just disconnect, honestly. Surely there wouldn't be much difference. Sure it's slightly more inconvenient but it's far better than people able to pause the entire server and screw with everyone else who's currently on.

posted a message on More Stuff or Pack and Release?
I think you have a somewhat odd view on what Snaphots are. They're simply a view at where Mojang is currently in terms of coding, so people can beta-test the future update.

They're weekly because that's a solid time-frame for Mojang to get lots of community input about things.

The updates come when major things they want done are done and when there aren't any incredibly major bugs or anything. Besides, the 'set requirement' for 1.3 isn't done yet. They want to release 1.3 when the ssp-smp merge is completed and stabilized, and god knows how long that will take.

So I guess I pick your first option ^-^

posted a message on 2 things about these new "ender chests" (And a question!)
For your first point: Servers should have guidelines around the Ender Chests, clearly explaining what they're used for, and people who breach the terms and conditions would be warned/banned. It's not the problem of the chest if someone steals from it. And besides, since there's only one 'network' so to say, wouldn't you try and use it for the really big things that need it the most? Like, have one in every major mob farm and one in the spawn place or wherever there's a main central area, and people can deposit a stack or so of whatever item into the chests at the mob farms, then someone at the spawn can pick them up. That is, anyone who wants it ^-^ And generally mob farms are open to the public anyway, so this method is pretty much perfect if you have trust-worthy players on your server.

I somewhat 'agree' with your second point. But I probably won't realistically use it as a backpack until really late into the game. Mostly i'd do stuff like using it to 'transport' cobble and ores from mining to my house. Although you can definitely use it to store valuables. Well . . . I plan on, in this situation, having one in my base that I fill with my basic supplies for mining [Wood, planks, coal, food, etc] that i'd have stacks of, so that I can let my inventory get full. Then I can deposit needless stuff as well.

For the question, only single chests exist ^^ Probably for this reason, and for a general limit.

Am I the only one that thinks this works BEST for SMP? Because in SMP you can use them to shift items between players no matter where they are. If you're in single-player and mining, your chest could fill up pretty quickly with nobody at your base to clean the chest out. BLEH >->

posted a message on Will We Need To Download The Server Side Client Even If There Is A Full Update?
It'll probably be downloaded and shuffled to wherever it goes as the game downloads the update ._. Not that hard . . . . I really doubt they'd make you actually download it and install it.

posted a message on Can the Ender Chest be picked back up? If so...it's far overpowered.
Dude. Get over it. You get what you pay for. I never use Obsidian for anything so i'd have to go out of my way to get some. Plus, what if you DIE with one? D:

I think that this system is incredibly . . . 'revolutionary', but one thing that should be added is an option to 'align' chests. Like, have a little option above the actual chest part where you can cycle through colours, and it will only show items in chests that also have that colour.

    Quote from XxEpicXghosTxX

FOR ALL THOSE IDIOTS COMPLAINING ABOUT LAG GET A BETTER COMPUTER JAB CAN NOT DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT!

    Yes he can actually.
Most of the lag is caused by how horribly the game is coded. Which is technically a fault of the developers, although I can easily see why they never optimized it.

The game was never actually optimized at all, it was just code layered on code layered on code. There's still an issue of junk code sitting there doing nothing except using resources.

And the game works from a small part of your computer, and the client does a big amount of work. This strain makes lag, basically. I guess that's a good way to explain it. Thus one of the needs for the ssp-smp merge to let the server handle big tough calculations and stuff and let the client do the rest.

Although of course the 'quality' of your computer does play into it. I won't argue against that. But you're wrong in saying that Jeb can't at least reduce lag by a fair bit.

posted a message on About the New Mod Api
Mods shouldn't have to be done completely again. Although some modders might wish to.

Keep in mind that Mojang wants to keep the code of the game as similar to how it was before the ssp-smp merge, so that there isn't some complete overhaul of the code that probably would require having every mod ever re-done.

But the mod API will allow you to be able to mod the game on a way grander scale, so modders might end up re-doing their mods, if only for the ability to do them from the ground up with all the abilities they have with the mod api. But it's up to the modder, I guess.

posted a message on Trading...Sounds cool, but it's totally useless with the game's scale.
I believe that the merit of trading in Minecraft would more be about, as said, trading excess/infinite materials for rarer, non-renewable ones. I think that chances are, most blocks/items will be buyable via trading, but the prices will obviously vary, so it's sorta . . . yeah, a slightly odd process of using lots of lesser things to get some bigger things.

Oh and this means that you can live exclusively above ground and still get ores and such.

    Also, my god if this means that you can finally get bones/string on Peaceful . . . >_< I'VE WAITED SO LONG ;_;

posted a message on what do you do when you can't sleep?
If I want to try and go back to sleep, I just sit in bed and force my eyes closed. No wonder nobody gets any sleep. The general response seems to be 'What do I do when I can't sleep at night? Oh, I just have a jog around the block, maybe do some exercise, clean the house, make myself some food, surf the internet, watch some movies, talk to my friends, ya know . . . ' XD

Unless the question is secretly 'What do you do when you can't sleep and have no intention of going to bed?' in which case the OP sure fooled me >_>
