((For those of you wondering, I am still working on reading this thread. You guys have a tendency of making really, REALLY long posts. I have no problems with this, but that means it takes longer to read them. However, I've also been studying for a school exam. On top of recently having a bout of stomach sickness (fun stuff, I know), on top of the already-mentioned Heroes of the Storm, (Seriously, I can't get enough) I haven't been reading much. I have been reading. No doubt about that. I'm just doing it at my own pace.

Haven't forgotten about you guys! But things will most likely get busier before they get less so, especially with Christmas being RIGHT around the corner. Anyway, just wanted to let you know I'm still here.))

    ((So... hey.

I know I've been gone for... what, two months? Maybe longer, I don't remember. Either way, if you were worried about what dark, internet-deprived cave I'd been dragged off to, I wasn't. I was just kinda engrossed in the new computer we got that can actually play high-intensity games such as Starcraft II and Heroes of the Storm without overloading the CPU and completely crashing the computer. Seriously, the old one just stops functioning if it senses even the slightest hint of wanting to play Team Fortress 2.

However, the computer that couldn't handle those games is still fully functional. In fact, this is the one I use for the internet (and the one I happen to be typing this paragraph on) because for some reason, despite having a CPU sturdy enough to run Crysis, the other one's internet-browsing capabilities are actually WORSE than this one. And whenever the main gaming computer is occupied (which is almost all day) I will try to get on here in my free time.

But... there are a couple things I'll need to do before I get back into this.

First off, I have too many characters. I know that they were kind of my primary characters, but I will be indefinitely deactivating Glaive and Rogan. To be honest, while they were my first characters, they also had the least character development. Ronin and Takranos probably have more character development NOW than the other two ever will. I know I didn't roleplay Ronin very much, but he's kinda like my alter ego, for lack of a better description. And the amount of development Takranos got in the first WOTD alone pretty much chiseled out his character completely and solidified his personality for pretty much all future roleplays in which I used him. Even the whole chicken sandwich thing.

Especially the whole chicken sandwich thing.

Rogan and Glaive just... didn't have that. I tried to differentiate Rogan from your stereotypical dark hero, but that didn't really work out. Either way, while I may pick them back up in the future, say goodbye to them for now.

Secondly, I'll need to figure out where exactly everyone is, where the plot is right now, and find the right place to reinsert my characters. This will also involve reading the last 10 pages, and considering how long each individual post is, I have my work cut out for me. I guess I'll start with the one-month timeskip after the tournament.

It's going to be a process, but I will try to be more active in this roleplay. Sorry for sort of completely vanishing for the past several months and making everyone wonder if I was still alive. But rest assured that I am alive, I am real...

    And I am BACK.))

    "WHOA."

    "You felt that too?"

    "WHOOOOOAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA...."

"Yep, you felt that too. Whatever that was, it was so sudden that I almost lost control of my magic."

    "ALMOST?"

"Well, the town's still standing, isn't it?"

Unfortunately, the deli wasn't. I looked around to find the fine establishment I was dining at completely ruined. One moment, I'm innocently enjoying a delicious grilled chicken sandwich on a warm sourdough bun. The next, I just... well, exploded. For one, the roof was gone. The deli was almost completely vacant, most of the people being blown outside through the newly-shattered windows. The table, and those around me, had been reduced to splinters. I fell flat on my rear end in the chaos due to the chair I was in being vaporized by the immense arcane forces. One of the employees was fortunate enough to have been in cover when the blast occurred. He was retrieving a box of sauces from a cupboard behind the counter, and even though he was knocked over, the counter took the brunt of the attack. It may or may not have saved his life, but the counter had been blown to pieces.

    "Crap."

"THAT FAILURE BORDERED ON SPECTACULAR. I CAN PICTURE THE HEADLINES NOW."

Then, my phone rang. I slowly answered it hoping that, by some miraculous stroke of serendipity, it wasn't the police. Caller ID was anonymous. I almost freaked out, but I kept my composure long enough to answer the phone and figure out who the heck it was. "Hello?" I gulped.

"Takranos Kreise? I'm calling on behalf of Ivan Rykov."

I heaved a huge sigh of relief. "Thank goodness. I thought you might have been the-"

    "The gang's getting back together."

    "... What?"

    "The gang's getting back together."

An almost malicious grin adorned my face as I pushed myself off the floor. "Say no more. I'm on my way."

"Coordinates are being sent to your phone now."

I looked at my phone, confirmed the coordinates, and blasted away from the remains of the deli like a missile. "This is gonna be FUN."

    ((Okay.))

    [Rogan]

The frozen city of Sinbad. Sounds almost like some place in a story book that hides the evil ice lord's lair. Of course, the reality wasn't nearly as... romantic. I took care with each step, making sure I didn't slip on the ice. I did end up slipping and nearly falling face-first, but I reached out my hands and caught myself. It was then that I saw the dead, frozen remains of the people who inhabited Sinbad under the frost. I reeled away in surprise. Even though the sight of death was familiar, the manner of such death was horrific, at best.

A vibrating sensation emanated from the cell phone in my pocket. I pulled it out to check the caller ID, and saw that it was anonymous. How odd. "Hello?" I responded as I answered the phone.

    "Rogan Callahan, I presume?"

"... Yes. Can I help you?"

"I'm speaking on behalf of Ivan Rykov. No need to be so paranoid."

    "Sorry. What does he need?"

"The gang is getting back together. I'm sending the coordinates to your phone now."

I was silent for a second. If the gang is getting back together, this is a whole lot more serious than I initially thought... and considering I'm standing atop the first ever human ice sculpture, that's saying a lot. "I'm on my way," I said as I hung up. I would have called my client, but unfortunately he... well, lived on Sinbad. I created a cloud of darkness around my feet, and took off towards the mainland.

((I'll post as the others later.))

Despite my proper place being in Aer, with me being a god and all, I decided to stay on the mortal side of the coil. I had gotten accustomed to the human way of life, and I guess I had designated myself as a sort of protector of the people. A grandiose step in self-appointment, I know, but I learned on Earth that human life moves fast. Quite frankly, human civilization, while it hasn't come as far as that of the Gods, it's moving faster. MUCH faster. Why?

Human life is short. Very short. Therefore, humans have been diligent in moving civilization forward within the span of a lifetime. Sure, others will take up the mantle, but the only way to get something truly accomplished down here on Earth is to do it yourself.

But people DIE in pursuit of this advancement, and many deaths would be preventable if only someone were there. I wanted to be that someone. I know I can't be everywhere, but I can do my best. But as I worked to prevent these deaths, I came across a snag.

Money. I need money in order to do this. I can't provide for myself, and by extension others, without money. So in order to both earn money and protect the people, I became a mercenary. And in the past month, the jobs that I've taken have set me well on the path to my ultimate goal.

My most recent job brought me to the isle of Sinbad. I went to the isle to deal with a vampire dilemma, but by the time I got there, the vampires were long dead. I would have left the island had something else not grabbed my attention.

The entire island of Sinbad was frozen in a ten-foot layer of ice.

The city, and by extension the population of the city of Sinbad was now a massive refreshment cooler. I was going to find the source of this disaster.

    ((Timeskip sounds good to me.

And Madman, keep in mind that Rani is not the only one moving insanely fast. When Rogan lunged towards Garrett, he crossed from point A (being where he entered Aer) to point B (being directly in front of Garrett) at speeds that challenged the human eye's capabilities to trace. Meaning Rogan is flying at Rani incredibly fast. While Alice's efforts minimized the damage, she didn't nullify it.))

I felt it. Almost like a weight being lifted from Heaven's shoulders, the universe seemed to sigh with a kind of relief. The Tainted presence was no longer there. Tobias had done it. He killed Titaint. I suppose that saves me the trouble of doing it myself, but Tobias was still going to die.

Before I could respond, I found myself on a collision course with Rani. He attempted to stop himself, but I didn't have the time to do much more than lower my blade so I didn't skewer Rani. I crashed straight into him, bowling right over him and tumbling several yards like a ragdoll in a hurricane.

After slowing to a stop, I got to my feet and formed a sphere of dark energy in my hand. I then proceeded to crush it, absorb the energy into my arm, and raise my arm above me. I swung my arm in a downward motion, and as I did so a shadowy claw appeared right in front of Garrett and made a solid downward cleave.

In my opinion, I'd like to see a Dark Souls roleplay in the gameplay format mentioned above. However, the format is only for one encompassing reason, as I generally prefer more story-driven roleplays.

Dark Souls is hard. You will not make it through the night without dying in myriad ways. Everything is trying to kill you, sometimes all at once, and sometimes even stumbling over each other to do it. As such, I firmly believe that every character in such a roleplay should have to fight their way out of death's door at every turn, mirroring the ungodly difficult nature of the game.

I mean, it's Dark Souls. It prides itself on it's difficulty. The first entry in the soon-to-be trilogy (SUPER excited for the third entry, by the way) says "PREPARE TO DIE" right on the back of the case. These guys aren't messing around. From Software is run by a bunch of twisted psychopaths who get their kicks from watching players get horribly maimed. So it wouldn't really make sense for a character in that type of setting to be able to dodge death because "reasons."

So I propose that the concept of dying be very real. I think that's really the only way you could do justice to one of the greatest and most difficult video game franchises ever.
