I imagine a sort of Resetti like scenario, where your game locks up while animated Notch/Jeb ***** at you for killing a defenseless villager in a 20 minute monologue. The horror, THE HORROR!

That's what I'll have to do, but I'm fairly certain I didn't make any of those mistakes. :P I legitimately believe the map overlapped in number, because it generated already fully filled out.

Can use it for mob detection in single player, trip wire sets of a lighting system or a audiable sound for you to hear if they are about.

That sounds like a pretty good idea.

Like it has been mentioned, they might also serve to be able to bridge gaps over liquids or other stuff where pressure plates just couldn't work.

    Desert.

The lack of trees can be somewhat of a nusiance, but i love the empty, flat space it generally provides, and pyramid complexes are one of my favourite things to build.

    Mountains are really awesome too.

Well, I am almost 100% sure that Map 11 becomes Map 0, as I have done it, and by virtue of the 'Map 11 has 2 names!" splash screen that sometimes shows when I load Minecraft.

I am not certain duplication extends past Map 11, but I think I recall making in excess of 14 maps and having them simply appear already filled out as Maps 2, 3 and 4 that I had made before.

I understand that, but won't every map I make over 10 be a duplicate? As in, Map 11 is Map 0, Map 12 is Map 1, etc.

At least, that is how I understand it.

Also, correct me if I'm wrong, but it's not simply a matter of not opening the map until you're far enough, but it is tied to the crafting table at which it is made, and centers itself around that?

    Hi,

I'm on a small personal server with friends. We play a fair bit, and also die quite a lot, and in doing so, we often lose a map. Our solution is often simply to create a new one once we respawn at the base, and fill it out again.

However, now we have run into a bit of a problem. We've created in excess of 10 maps, so now we are back to Map 0. We want to leave our area, and explore some of the cool new stuff in the recent snapshot, but all the maps are centered on our general area.

Is there a way to make a new map that will show elsewhere once we are far enough away, or will we keep making duplicates of the same 10 maps?

Thanks for any and all help provided!

posted a message on Advice on Keeping Chicken Coop?
    Hey guys,

I have a small village of my own creation encased in high fencing. Within this village, I have a small chicken coop, also encased in high fencing. The trouble is, I find chickens glitch on top of the fences a lot, and thus, escape and wander about, which is not something I want. The coop is a fairly large, well lit area, so really the only problem I have is glitchy escape artist chickens.

I'd prefer not to change the look of it too much for aesthetic/thematic reasons, so any advice on how I can keep the chickens penned in?

posted a message on Infinite Experience Bug Crashes Server?
I run a small, private server for myself and a few of my friends. After updating to 1.8, and enjoying it for an hour or so, we decided to go underground and do some mining. Upon resurfacing, we were surprised by some Creepers, and my friend was killed. He teleported back to me so he could recover his stuff, which is when the trouble started.

Fields upon fields of experience orbs were everywhere! We tried to move, but could only barely crawl along once every 10 seconds or so. We both tried disconnecting and reconnecting, and I even rebooted the server multiple times, but the lag-inducing XP was still there. We couldn't escape!

I wondered if it was a 1.8 bug, so after posting my experience in the bug report thread (sadly without a screenshot, as lag makes it impossible for me to take one), I updated to the 1.9 pre-release. Still have the same issue on the server.

Any idea on how to fix the infinite XP so I can return to my server? :sad.gif:

I disabled the Nether and it worked! I don't spend too much time in there, so I don't care, but it's quite weird all the same.

OK, that appeared to have helped, but after telling me it had to move my Nether file, and that it would do so, I get many listings in the terminal with [SEVERE] next to them. What's going on? When I try to connect via Minecraft it tells me there was an internal exception and that it timed out.

Here is my situation. I created a SMP server with the intent of playing vanilla Minecraft, but now I've decided I'd like to implement some mods, as well as use Permissions. I still want to keep the world and everything built within it stable, however.

How do I do this? I tried copying the world folder to the CraftBukkit folder, but it just creates a new world when I run it. Is there some screwing around with %appdata% necessary?

If I want my players, even my ops, to be unable to give a certain command (say, setting the time), is there a way I could do this? Tinkering with the server files or some such?
