posted a message on Bedrock or Java?

I normally play Java, but my wife started a Bedrock world, then invited us to it. I love using the VR headset I use in Bedrock. ViveCraft.org has a VR player for Java, but only recently released 1.14.3. For whatever reason at the moment, it doesn't work on my headset. So for now, I'm playing Bedrock. This will likely continue until my wife and/ or our mutual friend gets annoyed and we go back to playing Java. Being able to play both provides some perspective, as there are things I like in one version that do not exist on the other. That gives me a chance to further annoy Mojang on the Feedback page asking for Minecraft Parity.

A man's gotta do what a man's gotta do, and I'm gonna do what my wife tells me to. I just hope she doesn't tell me to stop pestering Mojang.

It may be appropriate to refer to some form of "fishing game/ game that has fishing in it" where the fishing was actually "fun". For the life of me, I can't think of anything. What would "fun" fishing look like? My idea of "real life fishing" is going to the local market with my debit card and bringing home something already cleaned and ready to prepare for eating.

Thank you, C1ff! I agree with your statements, and I appreciate how you handled the

    left
. I look forward to reading your posts. I agree with you most of the time, and even when I don't, you give me things to think about.

Our server applies the rule, "Keep it challenging, but fun." We *like* AFK fishing, it is part of the game for us. If it changes, we'll deal with it or mod it the way we like. We can do little but trust Mojang to apply a change to fishing in a way that keeps it "fun" to where we would *not* choose to AFK it. Fishing, as it is, is drudgery. There's really only so much you can do with "fishing" within a game. It sucked pretty badly on Ark: Survival Evolved also, just differently. And if Mojang can't change it to keep it "fun," we'll cross that bridge when we get there. Our game. Our way.

Those who are worried about what other people might choose to do WITHIN THE RULES OF THAT SPECIFIC SERVER have a problem. I'm glad it's not *MY* problem. One of the reasons I run my own server.

I really do enjoy Hermitcraft Rules on AFK fishing. There are those who do, and those who explicitly do not, and they appear to get along using Vanilla rules just fine. And yes, while there *are* mods, plugins and tools both to support changing fishing, making AFK not work, or other changes to suit personal taste, there appears a great deal of room for, "YOU play the game how YOU wish, and WE are going to enjoy the game in Vanilla how WE wish just fine." I don't get upset over someone on my server "cheating". I get REAL wound up someone ruining the game for someone else, "cheating" or not. "Don't be a jerk" would appear a mod-less way to solve Vanilla AFK fishing issues.

posted a message on Another opinion thread: how picky are you about new seeds?

The main thing my players get cranky about is if we can't find a skele spawner right away. Everything else, to a large degree, is negotiable. But Seed 0 does have a special place for me. :)

On my server, we have a "do what you want so long as you do no HARM to another player." My wife, my friend, and myself ALL use AFK fishing because we *want* to. If you ruin the game for yourself, that is a disappointment. If you ruin the game for someone else, that is an annoyance, and someone being annoying should be banned for life from the server. Needless to say, we only have friends playing together on our server, and "be annoying" is not on our list of things to do. You should likely find a server that has the policies in place you like, or do as you see fit in single-player. You don't HAVE to AFK fish.

This will allow you to use Optifine with Fabric mods, as Optifabric IS a Fabric mod that loads Optifine in real-time. I hope this helps. :)

A man's gotta do what a man's gotta do, and I'm using the seed my wife tells me to. Well, her and a mutual friend. Otherwise I'd likely use grinnerslaphappier.org (Seed 0) because ... seed zero am I right? And it's the same biome generation for both MCBE and MCJE, even if structures are all different.

Yeah, not updated yet, and I'm focused on 1.14.3 + Fabric Mods. The biome borders are not nearly as important as "what, exactly, is the boundary of this Fortress again while working on my Wither Skull Farm?"

I appreciate the enthusiasm, which I *share* as far as concept. Seriously, I have to wear a bit watching Hytale news for salivating all over myself. Part of that is the "HD" detail and options with characters while still looking "Minecraft-y" pixelated. I'm pretty sure I won't get a "ferret-avatar", but I'm pretty sure I'll be more happy with the level of detail I'd get than what I get for the current Java situation. MCBE lets me at least have an Ewok, shorter and fuzzy, but I can't have that for MCJE.

I don't have any problems at all with the desire and intent of the 128^2 image compared to 64^2. It really doesn't seem much more than 4 times the amount of pixels, and it shouldn't be a big deal. But time will tell how Mojang ends up dealing with Hytale in the nature of avatar customization. Competition forces changes.

posted a message on OptiFine HD (FPS Boost, Dynamic Lights, Shaders and much more)

I came here to look for info on Optifine + Fabric, since OptiFabric went out of development. I went to look for the post showing this news and the "final status" of the OptiFabric project.

    GOOD NEWS!!!

https://github.com/modmuss50/OptiFabric/blob/master/README.md and an update within the last day shows OptiFabric is back-in-business. With the 3.0 version of OptiFabric and the latest Optifine 1.14.3 F1, people using Fabric can enjoy Optifine as well. Note: Shaders are shut off in Fabric + Optifine because of rendering issues, but so far everything ELSE appears to be doing the job.

I'm not clear yet on marrying Fabric + Forge, though I think that would be more appropriate for a thread *not* specific to Optifine. And thank you @sp614x for providing a way for OptiFabric to work moving forward. :)

It would be great if I could have my avatar look more like my ferret persona than what is currently available. Minecraft Earth will allow for people to build things viewable in public that others can see. My concern is that we will have "2B2T" in the face of anyone wanting to play Minecraft Earth. Mojang insists it isn't going to be like that. We'll see how Mojang manages *this* problem and decide if they are competent enough to deal with "HD" skins.

Mojang does *not* have QA staff to watch for bugs. They depend entirely upon the community. Even so, with bugs reported for months, they still let slip through issues that were terrible on the MCJE 1.14 release making it for the most part unplayable.

How does this translate into Mojang previewing a flood of skins, and what liability would they suffer if a few nudies slip through even for TRYING to check through them all?

EDIT: Oh yeah, that's not a newdie pic, I'm just shirtless wearing tan jeans with a front fly. No, seriously!

Actually, yeah. On our server we have a problem for which a "Display Village Info" may be a solution *if* you can determine the triggers to define and display our little "problem", the way you would display Villages in prior versions.

    1) 1.14.3 now has a toggle to turn off village raids. However, there is that "some condition" where Pillagers will spawn "within this certain range." If you can define "Raid" conditions for pillagers and what location they will spawn in, that would be a HUGE deal for people who wish to allow raids, but have some control over where the silly things show up and where to place defenses.

    2) 1.14.3 ALSO now allows Zombie Sieges. It would be a huge help if we could also display *where* they will show, and have control to defend against them. The Siege spawn conditions are different from Raids, but some way of displaying the conditions that allow both to happen would be a major improvement for players trying to set up village defenses.

    3) Naturally, of course, "Golems Spawn Here" like the spawn box of the village display in prior versions would still be a major help for people trying to sort that out.

Thank you for considering these suggestions. They may not be possible, or simply to technically difficult that you would want to bother with them. I've watched and watched again, and it still comes out "blah-blah-blah." I can't quite wrap my mind around what this means in the same way made it all so very clear, and of course the way BBOR would display villages in prior versions. But hopefully this is something you would be able and willing to do. It would be a HUGE help, the kind of thing that has BBOR bragged about by TangoTek as he used BBOR for both the Iron Phoenix and Wither Skull farm.

    Cheers!
