Gnembon discusses this in detail with this villager breeder. Due to some bug, villagers lose track of their beds, but the POI (point-of-interest) system thinks the bed is still taken. The ONLY thing you can do is break the beds and put them back to reset the POI and allow villagers to reclaim the bed. This is not quite so big a deal in breeders, but it *kills* iron farms. Hopefully this is resolved in 1.15. I do not have a link to the bug report.
Iron Farm by Gnembon may also be useful.

Unfortunately I only Twitch when I'm having seizures. I suspect there is a forum for helping you do that since the Twitch App is explicitly made for mods.

That is an definitely an issue. Try downloading copy world from a recent season of Hermitcraft. All this beautiful "stuff"... going nowhere. Doing nothing. If it isn't in "use" somehow, even by NPC's, "somehow", it's pretty dead. Pretty to look at, it's "art", but nothing dynamic. No "life".
This is the LAST of a series of three. I think you would find Whitelight expresses the problem well. And if you need ideas or clarification, the Hive Mind is here for you.

Just keep in mind the story does NOT end here...
You can be a part of the ongoing conversation that creates change, allowing add-ons in Marketplace.
You can support creators like Razzleberry Fox of https://www.minecraftmods.com/decocraft/. She has a Patreon account at https://www.patreon.com/RazzleberryFox. If you don't care for what she's doing, be sure to support those who *do* create things you like.
You can learn to create your own mods. https://www.tynker.com/blog/articles/ideas-and-tips/how-to-create-minecraft-add-ons-in-tynker/ is one such program, and I am sure there are others. This is your opportunity to learn and make mods others may enjoy.
Please do not let your efforts on getting the mods you like be "final". Instead, let this be a springboard towards making your corner of the world a better place!

Consider https://www.curseforge.com/minecraft/mc-mods/mybrightness as a "drop-in" replacement for GammaBright, only using Fabric instead of LiteLoader. The LiteLoader project appears to be dead on 1.12, and for 1.14.4 the functionality of LiteLoader appears to be replaced by Fabric Mod. For details on getting up and running with Fabric, look for VoxelMap which made the switch from LiteLoader to Fabric for 1.14. A few other former "LiteLoader" mods have made this switch as well, but VoxelMap's guide is what I refer to. Once you have VoxelMap working, grab a copy from the MyBrightness link above.

I struggle with this issue on my server where we have players who want "tough" but not "too tough" of their battles, and "too much" is a line that seems to slide all over the place from time-to-time. Minecraft, as a game, is a "bring your own batteries" game. That is, the very best motivation to keep playing comes from within you. Some goal you wish to pursue, something you wish to accomplish. For me, I daydream of making some sort of town and castle with Vanilla Villagers that are actually "trapped", but done in such a way they appear free to move and do their "villager" thing, and have the town and castle actually feel alive.
is a mod that actually does this within the code, but since I'm playing 1.14, I have to "fake" what TangoTek actually accomplishes.
Another mod you might consider is https://www.spigotmc.org/resources/extra-hard-mode.19673/. Of course, you would *have* to run Spigot as a server, and learning how to do that might be interesting to learn. It *really* isn't that big a deal to set one up. Then you have a way to invite your friends to enjoy Extra Hard Mode *with* you. And EHM … well, a few friends might help a great deal. And I don't think you would be *bored* with it.
Or if you really want something that would give you hairy palms, check out "RLCraft" Mod. That one doesn't use Spigot, so just use Forge and learn to work with it. But... be prepared to die quite a bit. But you WILL NOT be "bored", just mostly dead trying to learn how to stay alive.
Nov 18, 2019Posted in: MCPE: Mods / Toolstl ; dr Add-ons are *encrypted* as part of the Marketplace Map and CAN NOT be separated from the map, currently, by policy. @The_T_Pearson discussed this over Twitter back in October, and you want to follow the conversation discussing this here: https://twitter.com/The_T_Pearson/status/1181325608317374464?s=20
https://mcpedl.com/t-rex/ by @Pixelheads for download FREE may work for you on any map you wish, while content by the very same group on https://marketplace.minecraft.net/en-us/creator?name=pixelheads will ONLY work on the maps you download from Marketplace.
I think the current policy sucks, and I've voiced my opinion about it on Twitter. Again, you really want to be a part of the ongoing conversation *there*, and please be kind and patient particularly with the Devs about it. I believe Pearson actually *agrees* with us, to some extent, but that is just my impression. But if a change is to be made, Pearson has to *sell* the change to his bosses. *DO NOT* annoy Pearson into writing this discussion off, please. But we are talking about this policy, and it would be really good to have you in on that discussion... ON TWITTER.

It could all be, but since I'm capable of running my own servers Realms has become far less appealing. "Transparency" is a hard thing, particularly *IF* it's a bug issue and not an actual hard limit they won't disclose. AND there are differences (as well as different bugs) between MCJE and MCBE that won't help the matter.
Nov 5, 2019Posted in: Survival Mode
Since you said, Switch, you can only connect to Bedrock Realms servers or one of the publicly listed servers. That is "hard coded" into the game with no work-arounds for the Switch. If you have a PC, you have more options. This is just so you know what you should be looking for.
If none of the servers in the server list are to your liking, your focus will have to be to join a Bedrock server on Realms. Our server is in Java at this time, so it would be unplayable to you. There are message threads for servers advertising themselves, including realms.
https://www.minecraftforum.net/forums/minecraft/multiplayer is your best bet. This message thread is more for older people "just talking in general, but not about anything server specific." What you posted is ok, but I don't think the mods will let it go far along the "looking for server" line. Good luck to you, and yes, you are VERY welcome to post in general about your perspective not being a 12-22yo player.

@Jancrash: If Mojang were to provide a "cloud backup", they would have to set hard limits on how much data, and what happens to the data once that line is crossed. My suggestion of using a Hermitcraft End-of-Season game save was to point out EXACTLY how much space a well-used world takes. "Aimed at individuals" or no, edge cases like this would have to be dealt with by a service provider.
@silverough2: Yes. But it doesn't take much time on Realms to figure out there is a "limit" on file size, and Mojang won't tell you what that limit is, so you essentially play your game until the file size grows to the point of making the game unplayable for lag.

I'm using a Multiverse server, so I have more than one Overworld, more than one End, more than one Nether. The Origional Overworld and Nether behave just fine. The additional Overworld and Nether appear totally out-of-wack in locating structures. I suspect Multiverse throws BBOR a curve-ball.
Nov 3, 2019Posted in: Suggestions
Oh, if you want some idea of the size and time involved for "heavily played worlds," check out the HermitCraft season backups available online through their site. While they are gorgeous in their own right to look at, they would represent an edge case of, "cloud storage may not work in some cases."
Nov 2, 2019Posted in: Suggestions
Dropbox or any number of other things. I'm also in the habit of just zipping up files to a dated name (myworld-2019-11-02.zip) and shoving it on a backup drive. Most often, I maintain my server and my "offline backup" is making a name-dated backup of the production server to my backup drive. "A" backup system is necessary. Even for the server I play, it isn't a big server, and the filesize isn't that big I have any trouble downloading it to offline storage. However you would choose to do it...
JUST FREAKIN' DO IT!
But I wouldn't see this as an issue where cloud storage is a service I'd find worth paying for.

https://bugs.mojang.com/browse/MC-134816 Crasher bug introduced with this snapshot. We tried it on our server, it fixed a few things, but we couldn't keep the server up for crashing so often. As with *ALL* snapshots, beware! I believe I read over Twitter to look for 18w30b.

For people who are experiencing a crash on trying to use "fancy" resource packs like BDCraft. My wife and a friend on our server had a crash just on using BDCraft. When both of them updated their Windows 10 OS *AND* updated their graphics drivers, BDCraft would work fine. Minecraft is using a new OpenGL library, I believe, and that is causing issues. Hopefully updating your OS and drivers will resolve the crashing problems. This isn't something Mojang (or resource pack makers) can fix, as the problem is the PC it's running on. Be sure to keep your updates updated! ;-)

We need more info about this! It is not acceptable for what worked yesterday to become chaos today! Does this mean the base game may work great, but if one has add-ons, such as Pam's Harvest, Journey Map, etc., that there will be hours and weeks of work to get hour/days/weeks of work in previous Java Worlds back in working order???
Active content creators such as Spax (BDCraft) and so on have the info they need, they are checking to bring things together. Those who are no longer active will be a problem for you. I recommend seeking out the good CURRENT AND ACTIVE content creators.
JourneyMap and such are not "Add-ons", that's a Bedrock feature not in Java at this time. Those are *mods* using Forge. I miss Optifine and LiteLoader, but I've been missing those since December and any time I play Bedrock. But they are all third party content. Optifine WILL NOT update until they've had time to go through the RELEASE code, which they just got today. It will take them time. I'm not sure if Forge relies on the Minecraft Mod Coder Pack, but if you don't see 1.13 here: http://www.modcoderpack.com/website/releases then anyone making mods who requires the MCP will NOT be able to update their content until it comes out. And again, this will take *time*. They are third party products. That's how this works. Even Spigot is still trying to get 1.13-pre7 stable and working properly before they step up to the 1.13 release version. TIME. Give it.
Speaking of giving, if you are not supporting your favorite content with donations as you can, don't expect content creators to be in a hurry to update their stuff. They have to work regular jobs, and making stuff for you is a hobby. The more yelling they hear and the less cash they see, the less likely you will continue to see updates to your favorite stuff. So please consider a donation in support of your content. It may not get your 1.13 updates faster, but it will make it more likely you'll see those updates eventually.

Make sure not to to have resource packs loaded to start, and add them back in one at a time Because of some changes, BDCraft breaks the game. Spax does plan a BDCraft release soon on their website. Faithful should be working. More simple resource packs may convert fine. Be sure to tip your favorite resource packages creator! 1.13 has been one hell of a ride for those guys with the changes.

Gnembon points out a few bugs in Pre9 that will make a mess of farms:
https://bugs.mojang.com/browse/MC-133467 is the bug in Pre9. I really *SERIOUSLY* hope this is corrected in Release, or there will be quite a bit of noise about iron farms and such being broken.
Jul 15, 2018Posted in: News
Yes, and this has been extensively tested but there are a few things to know:
1) If your world is custom, it will refuse to upgrade it. There are work-arounds to force it to be able to upgrade, but how well this works depends upon what things you customized. If you DID NOT change biome size or generation and just changed, for example, how may dungeons spawned, it will likely be fairly ok.
2) Any ocean chunks ALREADY GENERATED will NOT regenerate with the new ocean biomes. Once made, they are "frozen". If you've done quite a bit of ocean exploration, it will be disappointing to see nothing's changed because nothing *can* change.
I hope this helps, and of course I would be glad to answer further questions if I can.

https://bugs.mojang.com/browse/MC-133467 "Mobs Stuck on Flowing Water" needs fixed, or all farms using water go "bye-bye" including pretty much all iron farms.
https://bugs.mojang.com/browse/MC-123968 "Unable to interact with game when typing tilde (~) into chat or command blocks (caused by Discord overlay)" is something everyone should be aware of. Discord's overlay is now picking up on the use of ~ and I use that to drop items. It only took a few times of throwing my diamond pickaxe into lava to decide "q" wasn't far enough away from "w". This is flagged "invalid" because it is a problem with Discord and not Minecraft, but it appears to be a new issue with 1.13.
Jul 11, 2018Romaq posted a message on Update Aquatic OUT TODAY on mobile, consoles + morePosted in: News
I don't know about "Officially Obsolete." Bedrock's roll-out was to be in three phases. The third expected phase looks like it will come out *AFTER* the date set for the Java release. I've been playing the Java Snapshots since early Spring before Bedrock had really started to Beta Aquatic features.
It would appear Java kicked off the ideas and tested them, Bedrock took some of the refinements into their code, and maybe there has been some feedback from the Bedrock team back to Java. But I get the sense from my time on both platforms that the Java team has been doing the lion's share of nuts and bolts, "How does this (*&^$% thing actually work out in practice?" Once those details are ironed out, of COURSE Bedrock can simply code it in. And coding an idea is a great deal easier than figuring the idea out in the first place.
I think there is room and a place for both platforms, and I speak as one paying for a Bedrock Realms server *and* a Java Pre-release server. My wife and I, and the others open to playing on both servers are enjoying our time on the Java Snapshot release. We will play with the Bedrock server in due time also.
I must also point out as someone who actually plays on Bedrock there are serious problems with Redstone that need to be worked out. @MadEnder916 on Twitter can comment in detail the problems with trying to use Bedrock in the "technical sense" people like @gnembon_mc, @ilmango1, and others are doing in Java. Bedrock game mechanics are seriously lacking in key areas with no fix in sight. If you really want to play Minecraft like SciCrafters, you are *not* going to do this in Bedrock. The platform simply isn't suitable for it.
So... I'm not ready to call the Java version obsolete or dead. And seriously... Bedrock's "Update Aquatic" isn't fully baked yet, and isn't likely to be until AFTER Java 1.13 release.
Jul 6, 2018Posted in: News
I'm sorry to hear that. VoxelMap is THE mapper for me. My wife and I donated for the last upgrade. Would you be willing to set a goal amount that makes it worth your time, and then give the community an opportunity to meet that target amount? Have you mentioned this on your VoxelMap thread to see how much support you could get for a 1.13 update?
Even if you will be gone the entire of August, it will take time for things to iron out anyway, as they always do. Given issues like, "Hey, let's redo the entire text display system just before release" it could be a while before 1.13 LiteLoader, nevermind you being in a position to update VoxelMap.
Jul 5, 2018Posted in: News
"We are in Pre6, and HEY I have an idea! Let's change the entire text subsystem for TTF! Amirite?"
NO! We DO NOT WANT a hurry up and release this right now. Changing the font system in PRERELEASE is about as bad an idea as it gets. My hope is that someone throws that out as a "new feature release for 1.14/ let's get on with it" fix in Pre7.
This is why we don't want to hurry things along, folks.
https://bugs.mojang.com/browse/MC-132707 "HD SGA font doesn't work anymore"
https://bugs.mojang.com/browse/MC-132708 "Remaining ascii.png in a resource pack causes all in-game font to display gibberish"
The 132708 bug has a comment from Spax of BDCraft fame: "That new bug is looking exactly like what it was in good ol' days when HD font were not supported. Please fix that (again)!"
BDCraft tweated the following:
"Why new things are implemented in Pre-release versions of #Minecraft Java?? Shouldn't a pre-release be only bugs fix? In PRE6, Font is now broke: https://bugs.mojang.com/browse/MC-132708 @Mojang"

@Toklo_23 That one is a duplicate of https://bugs.mojang.com/browse/MC-36937 "Unavailable enchants are not greyed out when enchanting fishing rods, cost XP & Lapis when used" which has been in since Minecraft 1.7.1. It's still a problem, it still needs fixed.

https://bugs.mojang.com/browse/MC-132674 "Weird cryptic language overrides almost all language selections"
If the game text looks like a scrambled mess, go back to Default and wait for your texture pack to update.
THIS!? THIS is why we want to take our time and get the pre-releases right. Last pre-release it was "swim ALL THE TIME underwater." Before that? "Swim on land."
I'm not faulting Mojang for having problems in the details. Well, I kinda wish they'd check for these things BEFORE throwing out pre-releases... but THIS is why I really want Mojang to nail this stuff so we don't end up with, "Oh look! I figured out how to use my recipe book to duplicate EVERYTHING as much as I want!" (MC 1.12.0).
