I also had another question. This is the build that I will be getting, but can it run shaders? I know that shaders are very poorly optimized and that the FPS is completely random; but could you give me sort of a rough estimate of how much I would be getting? If you cant tell me, that's fine, Ill just test it when I get the PC itself.

You kind of answered your question. But I think that on your build if shaders are capable of running well on any machine, then they will probably run acceptably on your machine, so like 30+. That's pretty much just a guess though.

Might check out webs. I had a pretty good server website with them a long time ago. www.webs.com The setup with webs is insanely basic, it's pretty much drag n' drop.

Read like half of it... But how about refine "Race!" Make it better? Make different tracks, different cars and all sorts of other things?

If you have played race!, you would probably agree that it doesn't have much potential. The game is tapping on the screen to make your car move, how do you add tracks? What would different cars do? Are people really going to download it just because it has 3 tracks and 5 cars?

As for graphics on it, almost all of the assets I stole from Race! for xbox live indie games, a project I was working on but never published. (I could port it to PC if anyone cared, along with a few other better unpublished games). Anyways, the graphics are optimized for xbox and ported for android. Even if they were optimized for android, I'm not much for graphic design. And I don't plan on putting money into a game that sucks anyways.

I will look into the music game idea. It sounds like it might have potential.

I have a strange habit with gaming. I'll find a new, interesting game, get totally addicted for a month or 2, then get bored and do something else.

I don't think that is a strange habit at all. I'm like that. I think most people are like that, but idk.

Anyways, Jak and Daxter has a place in my childhood that can never by changed. I have fond memories of playing that game and talking about it with my cousins, although I don't care much for it anymore. After gaming on a gtx 760, ps2 graphics that try to look good just hurt! Still was a great game...

posted a message on Android app ideas
Hello fellow people of the internet! I was looking at the statistics on an android app I made called Race!, and I have 3 installs. That is lame. I mean, I know the game isn't very fun, but really? I can literally name all 3; my dad, a good friend, and another friend. That is just sad.

I didn't spend $25 on a developer account for my friend to try a lame app out. I am considering writing another app, but I would prefer to write something that people actually want. The way I see it, the app should probably have the following:
    - Simple. I don't have much time anymore, and even less $. Let's keep this possible by keeping it simple.
    - Desirable. It would probably be a good idea to write something that people want.
    - Potential for $. I have this hole in my bathtub that i patch with bills. I find that $100 bills work the best, but I have to replace them everyday because they wear out. I'm running out of $100 bills so I was hoping to get some more. WHY DO YOU THINK I WANT $?

If you have any ideas that fit the above, or at least 2 of them, I would love to hear! If we are realistic, I'm probably not going to make the app you suggest. I am only too familiar with the burst of enthusiasm people have when they want to make a new server or something. But anything can happen. And I will take any ideas, game or app.

If you would rather, you could PM you idea if you think that is a better option. I don't care.

Oh, and while your reading this, maybe you can be the 4th install on my android game Race! It's 100% free and has very little potential for $. Hey maybe if I get like 10 installs I'll finish the update I've been too lazy to finish for it.

Hey thanks for reading all that up there. I am interested in hearing your idea!

I'm not very familiar with that CPU, but I think it can handle what you want. If you want to do a poll, why don't you set one up instead of a posting poll?

Also, building computers is fun and pretty easy (if you use google), might consider it?

    posted a message on FX-9590
So I was looking at stuff on newegg and I stumbled on these. FX-9 series processors. I guess they announced it at E3, maybe I should watch that. Have you guys seen these? They are crazy. There is the [email protected] base, and the [email protected] base. The slower one is a reasonable $350, and the faster one is a crazy $900. And the TDP, you ask? No less that 220W! That's just ridicules. Currently they are only available to system builders, but you can buy barbones kits on newegg with em.

So what do you think about these FX-9xxx CPU's? Think anyone in their right mind would get one of these? And overclocking. They already use 220W, think they can choke down any more power? And dissipating that heat...maybe it'll open up a new market of fx-9 optimized liquid coolers. And how many mobo vrm's can handle that kind of power.

    Here are a few links:

posted a message on Headphones: on ear or over ear?
I have a pair of these, and I think they are a great pair of headphones. They sound great, and they are very cheap. I once had an opportunity to compare my pair of headphones to a $300 pair of beat's over eat headphones that one of my friends had. I thought that the beats headphones sounded a little bit better, which I would hope so just due to the fact of how much larger they are. I thought my cheap pair was more comfortable, which is probably just because I am more used to them. Also the fact that I can easily put mine in my pocket, and the fact that his headphones used a battery that would need replaced occasionally, I liked my headphones more, even if at the same price. Then when I factored in the $290 price difference, I knew which headphones I was going to stick to.

I would stick to in-ear cause they are so cheap, and they still sound great. Oh and you can stick em in your pocket.

You have slow internet. Get a better internet plan.

He may have a slow internet connection or he may not. The fact that it has gotten especially slow lately probably means that something else is wrong.

Also, if you are using internet explorer as your internet browser, I would highly recommend Chrome or Firefox. Most web sites shouldn't take longer than 2 seconds to load on a modern internet connection.

posted a message on Need some help buying a new gaming computer.
That first one would do a very poor job gaming. The second one would do ok, but not very well. Of those 2 computers, the second one is much better for gaming.

I can't tell very well in you post, but it sounds like you would be interested in attempting to build a computer if you had the opportunity. You might consider spending your overstock credit on something else, and build your own. It might be cheaper, it'll prob be more fun, you'll love your computer more, and you'll get exactly what you want. If you watch youtube videos and read guides, and want to build your own computer, than I'm sure you can do it.

Edit: I was looking at Overstock's computer selection. They don't know how to put a gpu in a computer. Can you believe they put a gt610 in a computer and call it a gaming computer! Or an i7-3770K and a gtx650.

posted a message on Biotechnology and the future of the human race
I was thinking of starting a thread similar to this, but I would like to voice something very similar to biotech that i think sounds very cool.
Our eyes, right? Almost everything we do is based off of input from our eyes. I have been thinking how cool it would be in like 50 years when technology has grown to a point that we can grow new eyeballs with altered characteristics. The 4 things I think that could be altered that would be really cool are:
    1. Extreme Sensitivity. Don't bother with a flash light, you can now see in almost any lighting condition just fine.
    2. Extreme Detail. 20/20 vision? Ha! Howabout 20/200? Just imaging what we could do with so much detail! "You have to hold that book so close to read it? I can read my book across that football field! Helps me get my exercise when I need to turn the page."
    3. COLORS! Currently, we can only see 3 base colors (red, green, blue), which translates to 8 definitive shades of color.(red, green, blue, turquoise, magentaishpurpleish, yellow, white, black, all other colors are varying shades). Imagine if we could see 4 base colors? (red, green, blue, infared) That makes 15 definitive shades. I can't name the colors because they aren't named! Things would be so much more interesting. Look outside and see 7 colors you've never seen before! And more than 4 base colors, I won't go there but it grows exponentially.
    4. I can't remember what my 4th was! I know I had one, if I remember I'll update it here.
All of the above enhancements combined? Just imagine.

I think this could be considered biotech and I'm looking (ha) forward to seeing (haha) it happen.

I know the m5a97 isn't the nicest board you can get, but, based on it's amd 970 chipset, it's a great board if you don't want a crossfire or sli. And based on it's chipset it's high end compared to most boards in the price range it is in.

I don't know why you say that the board isn't good because of cpu power usage, I have mine overclocked and vcore @ 1.41 and it all does fine.

And when i say cheap psu, I mean a well priced one. The one I linked to should do it's job fine. I don't care how much you spend for something that does the exact same thing. Oh and I had a psu for a while that made that "cheap" one look expensive, lol.

I didn't bother to mention graphics, but the gtx 760 is great if your not concerned on price. It's what I'm planning on getting. But, for what your doing, the gtx 660 ($200) is still a bit overkill.

Oh and is the m5a97 R2.0 worth 40% more than the m5a97? If you're really cheap like me, then no.

If rebooting your router(s) and/or modem doesn't solve the problem, I would run a good antivirus scan. You might have a virus that is using all of your bandwidth for it's evil purposes.

Also, if you haven't already done so, reboot your computer now.

I personally love amd cause they are so cheap. You can get an 8 core cpu on a higher end mobo for about $200.

It's what I have. It can multitask practically anything without noticing it.

for hdd I'd go with this (1tb 7200)
and ram, I'd do something like this (which gives you the ability to easily upgrade to 16gb in the future because the mobo has 4 rams slots)
psu I'd do something cheap like this

That's most of a very high-end computer for about $380.
But I am a very cheap person.
