posted a message on what is 1.7.10
The snapshots follow the (year)w(week)a format, not the 1.X.X format. 1.7.10 is the tenth patch for 1.7, which fixes some bugs and adds some improvements to Realms. It's not a major update or anything, and is unrelated to 1.8. The current snapshot is 14w26c.

FYI, podzol doesn't spread. It'd be a pretty useless one block of podzol. (Yes, I do think it should spread, but it sadly doesn't.)

If you knew that and just need one block of podzol for some reason, then ignore this post. ;P

posted a message on [Suggestions]Lava Sponge and Obsidian Sponge
A sponge for lava would be very useful. To those saying it'd be too easy, have you ever tried clearing a lava pool in the nether? I've never built anything in a lava pool for this reason... I still don't understand the obsidian sponge idea, though, especially since it apparently "not absorb." Half-support.

posted a message on The Slab Update (Snapshot Suggestion)
Honestly, I think Mojang should implement a limited form of Microblocks that allow only up to what slabs and stairs can do (i.e. no covers, strips, etc.) but allowing for vertical slabs, sideways stairs, etc. I made a suggestion on that a while ago. I don't know how the Microblocks mod handles the data values, but it clearly works, even in modpacks with tons of blocks, like FTB.

Vertical slabs/sideways stairs, though, are definitely a redundant suggestion, though they're a good one. Sadly, Mojang said they won't add them even though they're leaving the current ones in. :P Support regardless.

posted a message on They need to add cars!
First of all, to everyone else, Minecraft is not set in any specific time, nor is it supposed to have a "feel" of any era to it. What medieval castle ever had a simple computer in it? Automatic lighting systems? Rail lines?

Even aside from specific features, some of the new blocks allow for some pretty futuristic-looking builds (like EthoCorp on the Mindcrack server).

Even so, cars just don't fit Minecraft. They'd be complicated to add, and would seem out-of-place. Not to mention that they've been suggested many times before, and this idea is vague. So, inb4lock, and no support.

posted a message on [OP Updated] If you drink a bottle of water while on fire, you get extinguished. Also, an emergency lava defense.
Just make fire an actual status effect like the rest of potions, and let milk be this emergency defense. It would have a side bonus of letting map-makers burn players instantly with /effect, which I don't think is possible any other way.

    Half-support.

What's your in-game name? Go to this link and put it after user= in the URL. It tells if the account is premium. For instance, here you can see that I've paid.

    Sure, here you go.

Umm... that's not how it works. You have to upload the image to an image sharing site like Imgur, and then embed the image from that site. :P

posted a message on X-Ray machines no longer work?
    Quote from FireKit

Xray was a cheat mod and its op, why would they make it for everyone to have as a craft item?

He's not talking about the ore-finding hack, he's talking about getting your head into a block of glowstone/redstone/TNT to see through the ground, finding caves and sometimes people's bases on PvP servers. It should be patched.

The ore-finding mod X-ray can only be disabled by using Orebfuscator (which makes the client think that every block hidden behind another block is a mess of ores, making X-raying impossible. That often glitches out, though, causing the mess of ores to sometimes be visible. At one point, it even made chests/furnaces render as smooth stone. That might have been fixed, though. The Cubic Chunks suggestion/mod is also supposed to eliminate it entirely by not loading chunks that aren't visible.

posted a message on What May be the end of minecraft?
    Quote from UpDownGamer

UpDates make lag so if you need to update make if a bit faster also. Every time minecraft updates it gets harder to play. people need at-lest a 1000 dollar computer to play because of all the rendering every block (normal resorsepack) has to load 1536 pixels at a time and 393216 pixels minimal per chunk. if minecraft wants to stay popular then they need to stop adding more stuff to it. its simple really. More stuff= more lag(more money spent on computers) Less stuff = less lag

No. Less optimization = more lag. More optimization (i.e. now) = less lag. The game has been optimized a ton lately, and while it may not be obvious for some, it's definitely better than it would otherwise be. Remember all those huge bugs in multiplayer that everyone complained about in their singleplayer worlds back in 1.3 with the merge? How many of those are still there?

Not to say i dont like minecraft because i love minecarft i play it anytime i can

Dont hate me people i am just saying the truth

    Sorry, but it's not. :P

Java shoulda been ditched in Beta.

Awful coding for C++ or whatever is just as bad as awful coding for Java. Same for good coding. The only benefit a switch would have now is if they rewrote it from the ground up to make it well-coded to begin with. But that would take a ton of work, and be a waste of work too, considering how much they've rewrote just recently for 1.7/1.8 alone. Not to mention that it would cause a huge gap in the addition of content, and of course Plugin API work. Those two things get enough complaints for as-is.

posted a message on Steve: Beard, or Mouth? [ARGUMENT]
Pretty sure it was a beard. No way that was a smile.

Actually, it's neither. (Because if it were a smile, Steve would have no mouth now!) The beard was removed literally years ago when Beta came out. It's a bit crazy how much people still use old textures from years ago in their art/etc. Just look at the forums: bearded Steve for the default avatars, old block textures in the emoticons... :P

posted a message on Minecraft Classic might come back
    Quote from FrostyFlakez

Iv'e heard a person on Reddit is making a mod API for Classic Minecraft. I saw a big petition on twitter to bring back Classic Minecraft! So my suggestions are: Have Minecraft Classic Servers in the Minecraft Launcher. Because Mojang need more money from people buying the Premium Minecraft, people who already bought the Premium can play MC classic. My 2nd suggestion is Delete Every Classic Servers in Mc.net and start over again. BUT only the People who already bought Premium can find the Minecraft Classic link. Ok my Final Suggestion is maybe do both the suggestions I typed and make the developers on the www.classicube.net for Example: AndrewPH can Operate the Classic servers and keep them clean! One more thing is classicube is a replacement for minecraft classic

Classic is already in the launcher, and why should Classic get its own official server list while the actual, current (and not an old, dated, and buggy version from five years ago!) game not have one?

The only reason to play on a version that old is nostalgia, really, and there's no sense putting that much focus on that. Now, I can't even imagine sticking with Beta 1.7.3 (except FLoB, of course ;)) out of hatred for Beta 1.8's changes anymore when there have been so many great features and changes since. Sure, it was simpler back then, but had it stopped updating then it would get boring fast.

Now, do Classic servers no longer work with the current setup? I would go for a fix if you can't do multiplayer in Classic through the new launcher. What I wouldn't go for is so much support for an unsupported version. :P

posted a message on More Turtorial Achievments
I think we're forgetting the fact that the yellow text in the achievement bubble always says "Achievement get!" and the white text is the title of the achievement. The description is found in the Achievements menu. Aside from that, I support!

    Quote from daredevil28

Not sure if a typo or not, but it should be "Destroy a monster spawner," and it would undoubtedly be shortened to just "Destroy a spawner" so that it actually fits in the bubble. :P

A spawner achievement isn't that bad an idea, though.

Inb4lock (Joke threads are discouraged, if not flat out disallowed.)

I really do hope you're joking. If they are in this deal, then they're slowly betraying Dell (who owns Alienware) by continuing to optimize the game code further. :P

posted a message on Is this considered cheating?
While there is right and wrong in real life, Minecraft is clearly not real life. There is no "cheating" unless you don't like to do something. Personally, I use minimaps (unless a server won't allow them), branch mining, mob grinders, and soon I'll even be using "speed mining" with Haste II beacons and Efficiency V picks, and on my server I'm going full Nebris and setting up a Wither Killer in the Nether ceiling. (Push Wither up into bedrock while it's still "growing.") Cobble generators always seem too slow for me. I get cobble far faster from just digging stuff out, and have more cobble than I'll ever need now anyway on my favorite server. Any dupe glitches, x-ray, etc. are clearly cheating, though, in my book. I've never really needed to use Amidst, as I don't play singleplayer survival too often, but I may even start using that as a last resort if I ever do start and just can't find a particular biome. Eyes of Ender, though, make Stronghold finding easier, though.

If any of those things are cheating to you, or you feel like it's just not completely right one way or another, then just don't do them. It's a game, and a sandbox one at that. Play how you want!

Of course, if you're on a server, you have to either follow the rules or leave, so some of the above mentioned things might even be banned, lol.
